Chapter 123 I Didn't Drink Toasts With Drunk People
Laura experienced what a mansion was for the first time in her life.
Regardless of the size and decoration, the series of security measures before entering was quite surprising, not to mention the private garden, the stable luxury cars in the yard, and the meticulously trimmed flowers and plants.
There was no sound, but everywhere it exuded - very wealthy!
Kyle opened the door in front, and Samuel carried Evelyn; Samuel seemed quite thin but unexpectedly strong, lifting Evelyn without showing much effort.
Standing in the yard for a while, Laura regained her senses and followed inside.
Seeing that Samuel had already placed Evelyn on the sofa, Laura hurried over, trying to help pour a glass of water but couldn't find the cup. She wanted to cover Evelyn with a blanket or something, but she didn't know where the blanket was. Besides, with Samuel right in front, Laura's presence seemed unnecessary. She wanted to leave, but Samuel didn't speak, and Laura didn't dare to move.
Standing there like that, Laura instantly felt very awkward.
"Mr. Whitman, I..." Laura hesitated but took the initiative to speak.
Samuel glanced at Laura. "Kyle, take Laura back safely."
"No, I can actually manage!" Glancing at Kyle, who was silent, Laura quickly waved her hand.
Kyle pursed his lips. "Okay."
Laura fell silent.
In front of these two men with completely different styles, Laura seemed to have no right to refuse, but in the middle of the night, in this gathering place of the wealthy, trying to hail a cab would indeed be very difficult, so she didn't refuse further.
"I'll leave now." Laura glanced at Evelyn, whose cheeks were already red. "Evelyn drank quite a bit tonight. If possible, it's best to give her some soup. It will make her feel better."
"Alright." Samuel nodded; his gaze seemingly fixed on Evelyn. He completely ignored Kyle and Laura, who were leaving behind him.
"I'm so thirsty." Evelyn licked her dry lips, making a faint sound.
Samuel remained silent. Her tone was endearing, making him want to spank her.
"So thirsty," Evelyn said with a bit coy. Her mouth unconsciously pouted, looking a bit aggrieved and cute.
Samuel watched for a few seconds, and then got up to pour water.
Considering Evelyn's health, he brought a cup of warm water over, helped Evelyn up slightly, and brought the cup close to Evelyn's lips.
As soon as the water touched her lips, Evelyn greedily took two big sips, finishing half the cup.
However, after finishing the water, Evelyn lay back heavily and murmured, "It's not good, not good at all."
Samuel frowned and set down the cup. "Evelyn, don't be too much!"
Evelyn, in a daze, as if someone was calling her name, tried hard to open her eyelids, only to see a blurry figure. "Samuel."
Evelyn's lips moved, calling Samuel's name.
Samuel responded with a hum from his nostrils.
"What took you so long!" Evelyn stirred and sat up unsteadily. Samuel was afraid she might fall, so he quickly reached out to support her, sitting down beside her.
As soon as he sat down, Evelyn clung to him like a koala. "I missed you so much!"
Samuel, initially laden with a plethora of reproachful remarks, chose to swallow them whole. He thought, 'Forget it.'
Raising his hand, gently patting Evelyn's back as if to comfort her. ""If you can't handle your alcohol, you shouldn’t drink that much. Getting drunk in public places is not safe!""
Samuel pondered, 'Thank goodness you were safely escorted back, and fortunately, I returned just in time; otherwise, on this late evening, you might have found yourself contemplating an overnight stay outdoors.'
"I didn't drink much!" Moving away slightly, Evelyn looked at Samuel with a silly smile. "Just..."
She opened her palm, wiggling her fingers in front of Samuel's eyes, earnestly counting with her other hand. "One, two, three, four, five, just five cups! Not much at all! Let me tell you, Cathy drank a lot. Cathy got drunk just at the beginning!"
Samuel remained silent. He thought, 'What a drunken mess! Being in such a state oneself, yet she still poke fun at others.'
"When I'm not with you, you're not allowed to drink." Samuel decided to restrict Evelyn slightly. Otherwise, she would be out of control.
"So when you're here, can I drink?" Evelyn tilted her face up at Samuel, cheeks flushed, eyes curved, smiling foolishly, with a strong smell of alcohol, yet even so, Samuel found Evelyn particularly charming.
That smile made Samuel's heart flutter.
"Of course, I'm willing to drink with you!" Samuel said, "But not now!"
"Why?" Evelyn was unhappy, waving her hand.
"I don't drink toast with drunk people! If you want to drink, wait until you're sober!"
"I'm not drunk!" Grumbling and getting angry, Evelyn, still aware of herself, said.
"Yes, you're not; I am!" Samuel followed Evelyn's words. "But it's very late now. You need to rest first. Be obedient!"
After coaxing Evelyn to lie down, Samuel didn't argue with her.
Arguing with a drunk person was foolish, but after Evelyn sobered up tomorrow, she would definitely be taught a lesson.
Watching Evelyn lie down again, covering her with a thin blanket, just as he was about to get up, Evelyn grabbed his wrist. "Don't leave!"
"I won't leave. I'll go get some water."
"You're not allowed to drink water! You're not allowed to leave!" At this moment, Evelyn acted spoiled and willful, like a child.
Samuel, helpless, had to sit back down. "Okay, I won't drink water. I won't leave!"
Upon hearing this, Evelyn finally seemed satisfied, not only grabbing his hand and not letting go but also pulling his wrist over, resting her face on Samuel's hand. "Don't lie to me!"
Samuel sat for a while and felt the warmth in his palm. Evelyn's breath spraying on his hand tickled him a bit, making his mind wander.
Unfortunately, Evelyn slept soundly and innocently, completely unaware of her unintentional actions, which posed a great test for Samuel.
It was a tormenting night for Samuel!
After moving his hand slightly, feeling the force with which Evelyn was pulling even while asleep, he managed to pull his hand out bit by bit. Seeing Evelyn turn her face and reach out as if searching for hiss hand, Samuel casually placed a hand warmer in Evelyn's palm.
With something to hold onto, Evelyn finally calmed down, hummed a few times, and fell back into a deep sleep.
Standing up, Samuel felt his legs and arms were already numb!
He walked slowly to the table, poured a glass of water, moistened his dry throat, and then looked at the sleeping Evelyn. Thinking about the soup Laura mentioned, he felt it necessary to prepare one.
