Chapter 30 Making Him Fall in Love
Evelyn laughed casually. "I'm not afraid of him suing me, but I'm afraid he won't."
"Oh?" Samuel thought and replied, "Do you have backups of those documents?"
As a perfumer, Evelyn analyzed and made adjustments to the data every year. It was normal to not only record the data but also have a habit of making backups. It made it easier to find any errors that might occur.
"I did have backups, but he took them all too," she said.
Previously, Evelyn hadn't been cautious of Liam because she trusted him. Therefore, she hadn't thought about transferring or hiding the documents. Everything was in the lab, and Liam had sent people to take them all away that day.
Hearing her words, Samuel squinted and observed her. He said, "I don't understand. Since you don't have any evidence, why are you so confident?"
Originally, Evelyn hadn't planned on revealing her plan. But since he asked, she didn't want to hide it because there was no need.
"I was completely unprepared for Liam before, so the documents and other data and samples were all left in the lab. He had people take them all away a few days ago. Laura couldn't stop him at that time."
Remembering that day, Evelyn considered Liam cunning and cruel. He'd taken all the evidence, leaving her, the victim, unable to accuse him without risking the label of "thief."
Liam had seemingly forgotten their past: not only were they once classmates, but they'd even been a couple.
Evelyn paused. Samuel didn't interrupt her. On the contrary, he waited for her to continue.
"I have to thank one of my habits," she said.
Samuel was curious. "What habit?"
Evelyn smiled mysteriously and said, "When I take notes, I have a habit. Because I'm afraid I'll get confused with too many records, I always write the time in each experiment log. And in the daily summary report, I also write the date and my initials. I don't think Liam would notice these details."
Liam's strength wasn't perfume development. He thrived in investing, production, marketing, and sales—a perfect fit for managerial roles. He neither excelled nor had any interest in perfume development.
"Good idea," Samuel nodded, finally understanding why Evelyn was so confident.
In fact, everyone had unique habits when it came to note-taking. Even the smallest detail could reflect one's personality. However, others may not necessarily perceive such details.
"But..." Samuel didn't want to discourage Evelyn, but since it was important, he had to consider everything. "Have you ever thought that he may not need your original copy? He can simply find someone to copy it. If the handwriting is not yours, then the marks you made might not exist either. What will you do then?"
Evelyn thought for a moment and nodded. "You're right. However, I have a solution. Since I dared to let him sue me, I will never lose!"
Evelyn's confident expression showed no signs of fear.
Samuel really liked her confidence and pride.
Samuel thought, 'She is indeed the person I love. I am willing to trust her words.'
The next day…
Evelyn arrived at the company only to be met with a barrage of strange looks. It made her wonder if there was something amiss with her appearance.
It wasn't until she saw Jack White, the manager of the human resources department, that Evelyn understood.
As soon as he saw Evelyn, Jack let her into his office directly. It seemed like he was waiting for her.
"Close the curtains."
Jack pointed to the blinds on the opposite side as he walked towards the office desk.
Glancing curiously outside, Evelyn turned around to pull the curtains. She felt very confused.
Returning after closing the curtains, Evelyn noticed that Jack had already placed an envelope in front of her. "Take a look at this," he said.
Hesitantly, Evelyn opened the envelope and discovered a lawyer's letter inside. Liam had really sued her. Despite a cold smile, Evelyn casually glanced at the content of the lawyer's letter and folded it back up. She didn't care about it.
Jack had been watching her reaction the whole time. Seeing her overly calm expression, Jack said, "The other party has sent the lawyer's letter to the company. How do you see this matter?"
"Sorry, I caused some trouble for the company, but I will handle this matter well," Evelyn said, putting the letter away. "Don't worry; this will absolutely not affect my work."
Jack was in a difficult position.
As the manager of the human resources department, Jack actually wouldn't hire someone like Evelyn. Cathy was a bit aggressive that day, but what she said was not wrong.
Evelyn had no qualifications, no reputation, and was involved in an accusation. No company should hire someone like Evelyn.
But Nasir had said he had received orders to hire and take care of Evelyn. Therefore, Jack couldn't reject Evelyn.
"Currently, the other party has only sent you a lawyer's letter, but we don't know if they will also sue Neogenito Fragrances.
"Of course, Neogenito Fragrances is not afraid of these because we also have a professional legal team. But it is best to resolve this matter as soon as possible as it will affect our company's reputation. Do you understand?"
Evelyn nodded. "I know. I know I have caused trouble for you. I'm sorry."
Looking at her, Jack relaxed and said, "You go see Ms. White. She has something to tell you."
"Okay." Evelyn stood up and prepared to leave.
Jack said behind her, "Ms. White has a bad temper, but she is very capable and talented. If she blames you, don't take it too seriously."
"I know."
As Evelyn opened the door, she sensed the people outside subtly averting their gazes. Glancing around, she tightened her grip on the envelope and hastened toward the project department.
In the CEO's office of Liavian Perfumes…
Vivian slammed her pen on the ground and shouted angrily, "I won't write it! Crazy! I graduated so many years ago. Why do I still have to copy someone else's work? I'm still copying her work!"
Vivian angrily stared at the notebook on the desk with her beautiful eyes.
Copying the content from the notebook in front of her wasn't a significant issue, actually. Piles of thick notebooks cluttered the desktop and even the floor beside the desk. The mere thought of them overwhelmed Vivian, as if there was no end in sight, and she was on the brink of collapse.
Faced with her tantrum, Liam remained calm and took out a pen again. He looked at her and said, "I know you're tired and working hard. But for our future, you have to work hard this time!"
