Chapter86 Was He Just Being Overly Suspicious?
"Where did you go?" His voice was cold and chilling.
Vivian felt uneasy and casually played with the strands of hair near her ear. "I went out for a stroll! I visited the garden base today, learned a lot, and I really have to thank Rosen."
She was smart, thinking it was better to take the initiative rather than hide.
She frankly stated what she had done. At least outwardly, she must avoid appearing guilty.
"You seem quite close to him,"Liam sneered, his tone decidedly unpleasant.
In fact, she didn't know how much he knew or saw earlier, but as long as she didn't admit anything, he probably wouldn't have any leverage.
She was well aware that it was just a transaction between her and Rosen. Rosen couldn't offer her love and marriage, so they were meeting each other's needs. If possible, she was neither willing to relinquish the fame and richness that Rosen could offer, nor did she want to let go of Liam, a dependable and trustworthy partner.
Upon thinking this, she took the initiative, holding Liam's arm and leaning against him, softly asking, "Are you jealous?"
Glancing at her, Liam remained silent.
"Alright, I know you care about me, but I'm aware of what not to do. Moreover, my business trip with him is strictly professional. You are well aware of this. You couldn't accompany me before, so it's just poetic justice if you feel jealous now." She playfully pinched his nose and said, "However, now that you are here, diligently watching over everything day by day, you can rest assured."
Seeing her act sweet and submissive, Liam's anger subsided slightly. He asked in a hoarse voice, "Really?"
"No!" She stuck out her tongue. "I have affairs with him, and then it will make you mad!"
With that, she let go of his hand and ran towards the elevator.
Her words left Liam unable to stay angry, and his doubts were mostly dispelled.
After wrapping up matters in Lindwood City, he hurried over, only to find they were not at the hotel. The company personnel here mentioned that she and Rosen had left together for lunch, without taking the company car, which instantly ignited him.
He had been waiting at the hotel entrance, wanting to see when they would return.
Indeed, they were together, but thankfully not too close. Considering Vivian's behavior, could it be that he was just being overly suspicious?
Following behind, he entered Vivian's room her.
As Vivian closed the door and was about to turn around, he grabbed her and pressed her against the door.
"Vivian," he murmured her name, poised to lower his head for a kiss.
Vivian instinctively raised her hand to block his lips, stopping him from kissing her.
Liam paused, furrowing his brow. "Vivian?"
"Don't be hasty! I just got back from outside, covered in dust and dirt from the flower fields. I need to take a shower first!" Vivian realized her behavior was inappropriate and hurriedly explained.
"Since you're here now, we have plenty of time." She tiptoed to lightly kiss his lips before bypassing him and heading to the bathroom.
As the sound of running water came from inside, Liam released his hand from the door, feeling somewhat uncomfortable.
He still felt something was off, but Vivian seemed fine.
His gaze shifted to the large bed where her handbag lay atop it, which tumbled down due to inertia, revealing her phone nestled inside.
Glancing at the closed bathroom door, Liam strode over quickly and picked up her phone.
The password hadn't been changed. He swiftly clicked WhatsApp, found Rosen's chat, only to discover it empty, devoid of a single word. Even the photo album appeared mundane, containing no anomalies. Texts, calls...
Every avenue he could think of was meticulously examined, yet it was immaculate, exceptionally so, devoid of any trace.
Was he just being overly suspicious?
Liam found himself a bit disoriented, but at that moment, the sound of running water inside ceased. Hastily locking her phone and tucking it back into her bag, he turned around to find her already emerging in her pajamas.
"Why the rush in changing?" he feigned nonchalance, rising to pull her into his embrace, lowering his head to inhale the scent of bath gel lingering on her skin. "You seem ready to shed your clothes right away."
Vivian trembled slightly. During her shower, she had already thought about it.
Coming all this way, and having been separated from her for some time, Liam would definitely want to...
However, she couldn't, at least not today.
From last night until now, she had hardly rested, feeling pain. She not only couldn't but also dared not, fearing that Liam might notice something amiss.
Of course, if she flatly refused, he would definitely become suspicious. So, she had a plan in mind.
She let him kiss her neck, giving him a sweet taste. When he tried to go further and his hand reached her pajamas, she suddenly stopped him.
Liam looked up, evidently displeased, his eyes full of unfulfilled desire.
"Vivian! You've never been like this before!" His voice carried a tone of warning and reminder.
Understanding his implication, Vivian pouted, looking aggrieved, "I wasn't pregnant before!"
Upon hearing those words, Liam suddenly realized. " Are you sure you are pregnant now?"
She lowered her head, shyly nodding and placing a hand on her abdomen. "My period hasn't come in these days, and I checked again. There shouldn't be any mistake."
Upon hearing her words, Liam's agitation dissipated, and he no longer harbored any suspicions. Hastily, he supported her arm, drew her waist close, guiding her to sit by the edge of the bed, then gently assisting her to recline.
"Why are you still running around everywhere and not resting properly?" he chided, though his concern was evident. "How are you feeling? Are you feeling uncomfortable, hungry, or craving something to eat?"
Giving him a playful glare, Vivian retorted, "Now you remember to ask if I'm hungry? I bet a moment ago, you were thinking about making love to me!"
Liam chuckled, "Of course, I want to make love to you! But..."
"Let it go. Your health is paramount now, and as for everything else, there is plenty of time ahead." Holding her hand, Liam softly said, "I will order some food for you. Let's not go out to eat. After you eat, take a good rest, alright?"
Vivian nodded shyly, watching him get up to make the call for food delivery, meticulously advising on preferences and dislikes, things to be mindful of and those she adores.
