Chapter 52 Those Two People, So Ridiculous!

Vivian glanced at her phone and saw that Liam was calling. She could only glare at Laura angrily and thrust the test tube back into her hands.

"Think about it yourself, don't be foolish!" she said, before turning and leaving.

"Where are you?" Liam asked directly.

"I'm in the lab," Vivian replied, feeling somewhat aggrieved. "I'm trying to figure out a solution. Evelyn won't help you, and I can't just ignore you. Liavian Perfumes is our hard work. I can't let it just end like this."

"Don't say such discouraging words. Get ready, I'll come pick you up right away." He seemed to be in a hurry and hung up the phone before Vivian could ask why.

Vivian looked at the disconnected call, then walked back and glanced into the lab.

'Forget it,' she thought.

The experiment probably wouldn't yield results for now. Instead of wasting time and getting angry here, she should think about what to do next. She had to plan a way out for herself.

Not long after, Liam's car arrived at the entrance of the lab. Vivian had already prepared and was waiting at the door.

She purposely made her hair messy and her eyes red, appearing as if she had been working hard and feeling exhausted. She looked weary and fatigued as she said, "Liam..."

Before she could say anything else, Liam stared at her in astonishment. "What did you do to yourself?! Didn't I tell you to get ready?"

"I..." Vivian pouted, closed the door on the passenger side, and tears started flowing down her face. "I'm just worried about the company. I know you're anxious, and I'm anxious too. So, I thought I would come back and try to see if we could get the experiment results earlier."

Although Liam could roughly guess the answer, he still held onto a sliver of hope as he asked, "And did you get any results?"

Vivian pursed her lips and shook her head. "I've tried many things, but as you know, the formula for essential oils is already quite complex. Even a small change in one ingredient can produce many different effects. And we don't even know if it's just one ingredient that is incorrect or..."

She appeared helpless as Liam seemed somewhat distracted. "Alright, Vivian, let's not dwell on this. If making perfume were easy, we wouldn't have been hindered by Evelyn for so long, and she wouldn't have grown so arrogant. Now, I'm taking you to meet someone who might have a solution."

Vivian was taken aback. "Who?"

"He is..." Liam glanced at her and shook his head. "We still have some time. Let me take you to freshen up. It's our first time meeting him, so we can't be impolite."

"Oh!" Vivian obediently replied and turned to fasten her seatbelt.

Liam watched her as she lowered her head, her gentle demeanor easing his agitation.

Vivian's undeniable beauty struck Liam immediately, her delicate and endearing features captivating him. The mere thought of her leaning against him and gazing up with reliance softened Liam's heart.

Compared to Vivian, Evelyn was too dominant.

Although she was also quite compliant, she always had her own ideas, just like this time when she betrayed him so decisively.

Just thinking about Evelyn made him feel irritated.

Fastening her seatbelt, Vivian noticed that the car hadn't started yet, so she looked up at him with confusion. "What's wrong?"

Liam looked at her and suddenly grabbed her chin, kissing her fiercely.

Because of Nicholas's sudden appearance, Evelyn changed her original plan and went straight back to Emberwood Residence.

She felt sore all over from just sparring, realizing she hadn't exercised properly in ages. Since leaving the Jones family, she'd grown too accustomed to leisure, indulging in her own desires.

But Nicholas's visit served as a reminder that despite her distance, she remained intertwined with the Jones family.

Evelyn was soaking in the bathtub when she noticed a bruise on her forearm. She must have bumped into something during the fight. She planned to apply some ointment later.

She sighed and thought about her meeting with those two people today; it was truly boring.

Evelyn had anticipated feeling anger and hatred toward them. However, as she sat down with them for a serious conversation, she realized that she simply couldn't find closure with her past self.

What prevented her from finding closure wasn't those two people, but her own past efforts.

For too long, she had sacrificed everything, pouring her heart into someone she believed would treat her kindly. She had hoped that having a confidant and friends would suffice in life. Yet, she hadn't anticipated being manipulated. She felt foolish.

Those two people... were truly laughable!

Evelyn couldn't help but laugh, shaking her head at her past naivety. The warm water made her feel relaxed, and she stretched out, closed her eyes, and gradually fell asleep.

When Samuel returned, he heard only the sound of water from the bathroom, with no response from Evelyn. Concerned, he pushed open the door and found her leaning in the bathtub, her body slowly sliding down.

It was happening slowly, but it was clear that her body was sinking little by little. Her neck was already submerged, and her chin touched the surface of the water, yet she hadn't woken up and continued to slide down.

"Evelyn!" Samuel urgently called her name, quickly walking over and bending down to grab her under the armpits.

His timely intervention stopped her from sliding further, and at the same time, Evelyn jolted awake!

Evelyn suddenly opened her eyes, still unaware of what had happened, staring in surprise at the face in front of her. "Samuel? Why is it you..."

Before she could finish her sentence, she immediately realized her current situation and reflexively crossed her arms in front of her chest.

"You can't stay in the water any longer," he said in a deep voice.

Samuel immediately lifted her out of the bathtub and held her in his arms, turning and striding out of the bathroom.

Evelyn was at a loss for words.

Now she was completely naked, and even though he didn't look at her, she felt embarrassed and nervous.

As they passed by the shelf, Samuel casually took a large towel and then entered the room, throwing the towel onto the bed and placing her on it.

"I..." As Evelyn's body made contact with the bed, she was about to sit up but he was faster.

Samuel pushed her down, his towering frame bearing down on her. The pressure forced her to lean back, driven by inertia. Instinctively, she reached out, her fingers clutching the buttons of his shirt as he pressed tightly against her.

Evelyn's mind went blank.

To be precise, from the moment she fell asleep to the sudden awakening until now, her mind hadn't gone through any digestion process. At this moment, it seemed even less suitable for her mind to be calm and clear.

Evelyn's eyes widened as she stared at Samuel's face without blinking. At such a close distance, his features appeared flawless, as if crafted by the hand of God. She had only caught glimpses of him from afar twice in the past, so all her impressions of him came from "rumors". But now, they were so close that she could hear his heartbeat!
