Chapter 155 Truly Smart

Even though Evelyn was very curious about the source of the wood, she lost contact with Alex since the day he rejected her. Alex seemed to have changed his phone number, and the owner of the wood carving shop said he hadn't seen him either. Alex seemed to have disappeared out of thin air.

Samuel said he would help Evelyn find Alex, but Samuel had never even met Alex, so finding Alex wasn't easy. Evelyn didn't hold out much hope.

There were more urgent matters at hand. Before Evelyn could find the person she was looking for, she had to attend a perfume-tasting event in France.

This time, Evelyn was representing Neogenito Fragrances for the first time at such a grand event, and the key point was that she didn't have anyone familiar by her side.

Cathy couldn't make it due to work commitments, and Laura couldn't come along either, so the company sent an assistant named Olivia Davis. She was said to be very experienced as an assistant, and most importantly, she was very proficient in French so that she would be with Evelyn.

The journey was smooth, but since they weren't familiar with each other, there was still a sense of distance.

The long flight left Evelyn exhausted. Upon arriving at the hotel arranged in France, Evelyn went straight to bed.

Little did Evelyn know that just two hours after her checking in, Vivian and Rosen also checked into the same hotel.

"Why didn't we book a suite? I don't like such a small room," Rosen said unhappily, looking around.

Vivian pointed to the ceiling. "Don't you want revenge? The room upstairs is Evelyn's. There are plenty of opportunities to harm her."

Rosen looked up and laughed. "Are you suggesting I drill through the ceiling and have Evelyn fall into my arms?"

Rolling her eyes, Vivian couldn't help but be speechless at times regarding his intellect. "Of course not! But if something happens later, you can always say that Evelyn entered the wrong room and came to yours!"

Rosen understood and playfully pinched Vivian's chin. "You're really smart!"

"So, is that why you didn't want to book the same room with me?" Rosen had previously said they didn't need to book two rooms, as he was lacking a female companion lately, so they might as well live together.

However, Vivian insisted on Rosen having two rooms, and they were quite far apart, which displeased Rosen.

"Yes, how could you have fun if I were around?" Vivian smiled meaningfully, patting Rosen's shoulder and feeling confident that the plan would work.

Of course, Vivian had other reasons for booking two rooms.

Firstly, Vivian didn't want to stay in the same room as the eccentric Rosen, as it would be torture for her. Vivian needed to take care of herself; her body was crucial, and she had to make bigger deals and gain more benefits. She couldn't afford to be worn down by Rosen.

Secondly, Vivian wanted Evelyn to suffer a serious loss of reputation during this trip to France.

Evelyn was awakened by a knock on the door, grabbing her hair, and slightly annoyed as she opened it. "Who is it?"

"Ms. Taylor, we need to go over today's schedule." Olivia's voice came from outside.

"Isn't it supposed to start tomorrow afternoon?" Evelyn complained, still feeling sleepy.

She thought, 'Olivia is too serious.'

Since meeting Olivia, Evelyn had found her to be capable but excessively rule-abiding, making their interactions challenging.

"Yes, but the organizers in France have arranged an exhibition for tomorrow morning, where all participants can visit. Additionally, there's a welcome dinner tonight, so to avoid any rudeness, you should start preparing for a bath, change of clothes, and makeup now," Olivia said, checking the schedule in her hand.

"Can I skip it?" Evelyn, who just wanted to sleep, found the lack of rest very unpleasant.

"Yes," Olivia continued before Evelyn could cheer, "but it is impolite."

"I'm rude; I just want to sleep." Evelyn turned back to her room and stretched out on the big bed, feeling comfortable!

Following Evelyn into the room, Olivia stood there. "Ms. Taylor, even disregarding etiquette, from a person's physical functions and self-regulation perspective, you shouldn't go back to sleep. If you do, you won't be able to sleep at night, leading to insomnia and affecting your performance tomorrow morning."

"According to scientific research, a lack of energy in the morning will affect your entire day, directly impacting the tasting competition in the afternoon. You are representing our company in the preliminary rounds. If a poor performance results from sleeping, even if the company doesn't penalize you, you will feel guilty, won't you?" Olivia said.

Evelyn remained silent.

Evelyn was almost falling asleep again, but Olivia's continuous talking was driving her to the edge.

For the first time, Evelyn realized that being nagged could be overwhelming. However, Olivia was acting in the company's best interests, and Evelyn couldn't find a reason to be angry.

She sat up cross-legged on the bed, feeling drained. "Alright, I understand. I'll go take a bath, change clothes, and get ready, okay?"

Olivia nodded. "You are very reasonable."

Evelyn fell silent.

"I'll go back to my room now and come to get you in an hour," Olivia added.

Evelyn remained silent.

She thought, 'This trip to France is unpleasant from the outset!'

Regardless, Evelyn couldn't continue sleeping. After getting up and taking a shower, she felt a bit refreshedand then changed her clothes.

Laura had specially come to help Evelyn select her outfits before the trip. She insisted on formal attire for such occasions, bringing seven or eight pieces. Evelyn found it excessive, so she threw out half of them, settling on about four sets along with some casual wear.

Thinking about Olivia's mention of an evening reception, Evelyn chose a long gown and added a white shawl to be appropriately dressed.

Before Olivia could come to find her, Evelyn took the initiative to knock on the door of the neighboring room. Olivia was dressed in a very normal professional suit, and from her eyes, it was evident that she was quite satisfied with Evelyn's attire.

"Olivia, where are we going now?" Evelyn asked with a smile.

"The organizers have arranged for a car to pick us up downstairs. We should head down now; we're right on time," Olivia replied after checking the time.

"Alright, then, thank you, Olivia!"

Evelyn was just being playful, but Olivia responded seriously, "This is my job, and I hope you can fulfill your duties, Ms. Taylor. I hope this business trip lives up to the company's expectations and brings back honor."

Evelyn remained silent.

She pondered, 'She is strictly following the rules! How come the company let such a person come along with me?'
