Chapter 182 She Was Fine

The thugs really went through a lot!

"Behave yourself!" Before Evelyn could even glare at Michael, the police had already kicked him hard.

Michael felt helpless!

"Let's get out of here; this place is too scary," Evelyn whispered to Samuel.

"Alright, let's go!" Samuel said, arriving with the police. He couldn't find her at first, so he contacted the local police. When her distress call came in, he got the notification and rushed over.

Now that she was safe, they still needed to finish the procedures. Samuel informed the responsible officer, and after Evelyn calmed down, they'd take another statement and head back with the still-unconscious Olivia.

"How are you?" Samuel asked, still worried.

After capturing the thugs, the police discovered they were internationally wanted criminals. It was a big catch.

Evelyn must've felt so scared and helpless during the abduction.

Thinking about it, Samuel held her tighter.

"I'm just a bit tired," she said, resting in his arms.

She was exhausted from all the fighting and shooting.

However, Samuel had come too.

She thought he'd be worried if he knew she was missing, but she didn't expect him to fly over and join the rescue.

Feeling valued and cared for was wonderful.

"Let's go back and rest," he said softly, not wanting to upset her.

He noticed Olivia lying in the car's backseat.. She hadn't woken up despite all the commotion.

Frowning, he asked, "What's wrong with her?"

Evelyn glanced at Olivia, feeling both sympathetic and amused. "She seems to have been drugged and hasn't woken up."

"Drugged?" he was surprised.

He was so focused on Evelyn that he hadn't thought about much else. Only now did he remember the sleeping drug.

"Yeah," she nodded. "They pretended to be Lisa's people, telling me she had an urgent matter. Olivia didn't trust me to go alone, so she came with me and got taken too. Later in the car, I think it was the air freshener. They released the sleeping drug, so..."

"You didn't pass out?" Samuel was very surprised.

Seeing Olivia still out cold despite all the gunfire and police, it was surprising. Despite that, Evelyn seemed completely alert.

Evelyn replied, "Yeah, I was drugged too. But I guess I'm used to it, so I woke up earlier. We should get a doctor to check on her later."

Samuel agreed, "We should also get you checked out."

"Okay," she said.

Meanwhile, Vivian was still worried because Rosen hadn't given her the final exam topic yet.

The examiner himself would set the final questions. It was most likely Mr. Thompson, as the organizers hadn't revealed who the examiner was in advance. Thus, even if Rosen wanted to get the questions, it was impossible.

Without the questions, Vivian didn't feel confident about winning. She felt like the worst student about to be exposed in a national competition.

She wanted to talk to Rosen again. Even if she couldn't win, she didn't want Evelyn to take first place.

However, Rosen's room was empty. She knocked for a long time, but no one answered, and she didn't know where he was.

Calling him also failed, making her even more anxious.

She had a bad feeling but couldn't pinpoint why.

On the other side.

"Other than some minor injuries, she's fine," the doctor said, taking off his stethoscope.

Samuel was skeptical. "Really?"

"Yes, Mr. Whitman. I've thoroughly examined Ms. Taylor, and there's no problem. If she feels any discomfort later, I suggest a hospital visit for further tests, like a CT scan."

"Don't bother!" Evelyn quickly said, "I'm fine, really."

The doctor gave a look that said, "I told you so," and Samuel nodded. "Has the other lady been checked?"

"Yes. The drug in her system is almost metabolized, so she should wake up soon. We'll check again after she wakes up. If there's any concern, a comprehensive exam can be done." The doctor then looked at Evelyn with some doubt.

"What's wrong?" Samuel asked, his heart tensing up again.

"Nothing," the doctor said, but after a moment, he added, "It's just that if Ms. Taylor and the other lady were drugged with the same substance, I didn't find any traces of the drug in her system."

Evelyn smiled. "Maybe my body metabolizes things quickly. You said Olivia's drug is almost metabolized; I might just be faster."

After some hesitation, the doctor nodded. "It's possible. But if that's the case, Ms. Taylor's metabolism rate might be faster than an average adult male's."

"Probably," Evelyn said with a sweet, innocent smile.

The doctor pondered for a moment, then concluded it was possible. Thus, he said nothing more and left.

Samuel sat beside Evelyn, looking at her normal complexion. He asked again, "Are you really okay?"
