Chapter 42 Samuel is so cute

As soon as Evelyn got home, she headed to the shower. She applied a lot of shower gel, along with her homemade fragrance essential oil. She luxuriated in the tub for over an hour before emerging, clad in pajamas and content with the lingering aroma in her hair.

Samuel had already finished showering in another bathroom. When he saw her, he took a prepared big towel and walked towards her.

"Your hair isn't dry." He noticed that she didn't blow-dry her hair after showering.

Despite the presence of a hairdryer in the bathroom, her hair remained consistently wet whenever she emerged.

"I don't like the feeling of a hairdryer blowing on my scalp," Evelyn said, reaching out to take the towel from his hands.

Unexpectedly, he raised his hand and put the towel on her head. Then, he placed both hands on her shoulders. "Sit down."

"I..."

His touch was gentle and thoughtful, causing Evelyn to pause momentarily before allowing him to continue stroking her hair.

At first, she was not accustomed to it and felt uncomfortable, but slowly she got used to it and even began to enjoy his kindness towards her. Evelyn felt like she had fallen into a honey jar and closed her eyes in comfort.

Samuel glanced down at Evelyn, noticing her serene expression as she closed her eyes, her head tilted back in pure enjoyment. With a smile, he aimed for even greater gentleness, patting her hair from scalp to ends to dry it.

Evelyn should dry her hair before going to sleep. She didn't like using a hairdryer, so Samuel could only use a dry towel to absorb the moisture from her hair.

Evelyn was almost falling asleep and said in a drowsy state, "I don't smell, right?"

"Yes."

When Evelyn mentioned this, Samuel didn't know what to say to her. He had never encountered a perfumer who made herself smell so fragrant. She was amazing.

Unaware of Samuel's resentment, Evelyn persisted, her eyes half-closed. "With my exclusive essential oils, it's impossible for you to smell bad! The scent isn't too harsh to bear, but today I may have added a bit extra, making the mixture a tad strong, which is why..."

"Don't go tomorrow," he interrupted her.

"What?" Hearing this, Evelyn immediately opened her eyes and turned her head back. "No… Ah..."

She turned her head suddenly, and Samuel grabbed her hair. She screamed in pain, and Samuel immediately let go, unable to help but rebuke, "Don't be so reckless."

"That's my job. Since I have decided to do it, I won't give up halfway. Besides, I promised..."

"What?" Samuel asked sharply.

"I promised my boss to finish it within a day."

"One day? 48 varieties?"

"Yes, 48..." Evelyn paused, surprised. "How did you know?"

Without answering her question, Samuel asked her, "You need to analyze detailed data on 48 sources of odor. Who told you it had to be finished within a day?"

"I did!"

"You?"

"Yes, I volunteered."

"You're crazy!"

Samuel let go, and the large towel fell from Evelyn's shoulder onto the couch.

This was unusual. Samuel had instructed Kyle to reach out to Neogenito Fragrances. Nasir's reply indicated that they were currently experimenting on a new product. Simultaneously, they were conducting a deodorizing and fragrant experiment with a strict deadline of ten days. Additionally, three individuals were overseeing this experiment, and Evelyn was not among them.

Nasir was also surprised and said he would find out immediately.

Now, Evelyn told Samuel that she needed to come up with the data result within a day. And, she was the one who initiated it. Samuel thought she was crazy.

Evelyn didn't understand why Samuel was so agitated. She looked up at him and blinked. "I'm not crazy. It's not that difficult."

Samuel remained silent, uncertain whether to classify her as overly confident or simply arrogant.

The company's task assignments were based on reason and wouldn't give employees excessive pressure, but employees wouldn't feel relaxed either. Since this was a task to be completed within ten days, it indicated that this task required that much time to complete.

"Are you going to stay in that stinky place all day tomorrow?" Samuel took a deep breath and asked.

Evelyn felt he was worried that she would come back all smelly the next day.

After thinking for a moment, Evelyn said, "It's okay, I'll bring some essential oils and fragrances tomorrow. I'll clean up over there before I come back. You don't have to worry."

"It's in a remote area, and the working hours are too long. Don't go there tomorrow." For the first time, he felt that it was a foolish decision for the company to select that location for the experimental base. After eight o'clock, calling a taxi became a challenge, not to mention she had also sprained her foot.

And why work until past eight o'clock? The working hours were too long.

"I..." Evelyn intended to retort, but upon seeing Samuel's unhappy expression, she suddenly realized his concern for her. She felt both warm and amused.

Evelyn stood up, bent one knee on the couch, leaning forward. Samuel reached out and held her to prevent her from falling.

"Mr. Whitman, you decided on the workplace and working hours. Why are you complaining now? Everyone else can do it, why can't I? And the working hours are not long, we can leave at sixo'clock. I promised you to finish as soon as possible tomorrow and come back early."

Samuel frowned, not agreeing with Evelyn's words.

Evelyn found this kind of Samuel very cute.

She smiled and leaned in to kiss his cheek, then held his face and kissed his nose and the corner of his lips. "It'll be over tomorrow. You promised me enough work freedom."

Samuel had a straight face. After Evelyn kissed him like that, he couldn't help but give in. He sighed helplessly and hugged her waist, kissing her tenderly.

He had no way to resist her.

...

At half past eleven in the late night, Liam was awakened by a phone call from Tyler, the manager of the factory. Having his dream interrupted made him very unhappy, but what he heard next made him even more unhappy.

"What? Say it again."

His voice was too loud, which woke the sleeping Vivian. She rubbed her eyes and sat up. "What's wrong? You're too loud."

Liam pushed her aside and got out of bed barefoot. He shouted, "If we're out of raw materials, can't you go buy them? How useless is the procurement department? Find a supplier!"
