Chapter 165 Don't Trust Her
Evelyn squatted down to check, only to see Ethan's face and neck covered in sweat. When she reached out to touch him, his back was also drenched in sweat, and his hands and feet twitched and trembled. Moreover, many small red dots appeared on his face.
"It should be an allergy," Evelyn said, reaching out to unbutton Ethan's collar.
"What are you doing? Who are you? Don't touch him!" Avery, on the side, roared, pulling Evelyn's arm forcefully, refusing to let Evelyn touch Ethan.
"He is showing allergic symptoms. If not dealt with quickly, it could be very dangerous!" Evelyn completely ignored Avery's anger and turned to Lisa, who was still dazed.
Upon hearing Evelyn's words, Lisa finally came to her senses and bent down to stop Avery. "Avery, she is my friend. She is helping to save Ethan. Don't worry."
Perhaps too anxious, or Lisa's words had some effect, although Avery was still crying loudly, she no longer tried to stop them.
Evelyn quickly unbuttoned Ethan's collar and spread out his clothes, revealing red rashes on his chest. This confirmed that it was indeed an allergy.
Looking up at Avery, Evelyn asked, "What did he eat?"
Her tone was very serious, and her eyes were particularly sharp, momentarily startling Avery. She hesitated and said, "He just had some bread and orange juice. What's wrong? Is there a problem with the food?"
Then she looked at the waiters in the crowd and said, "There is something wrong with the food in your restaurant. If something happens to my child, I will not let you off the hook!"
The words caused panic among the other customers. Evelyn could only say loudly, "Please give him some space. He can't breathe with everyone crowding around! I need a large glass of water. Hurry up!"
The scene was chaotic, with waitstaff fetching drinking water and trying to calm the guests; the whole restaurant was in disarray.
Lisa was not sure if Evelyn could handle it, but seeing Evelyn's calm demeanor, she had no choice but to trust her for now.
Evelyn looked around, trying to find something to induce vomiting, but forks and knives seemed too dangerous. Without thinking too much, she rinsed her hands with water and directly put them into the child's mouth, pressing down on Ethan's tongue root.
"What are you doing?" Avery, who had been waiting anxiously, screamed when she saw Evelyn's actions, "Are you crazy? Get your dirty hands out of his mouth!"
But the next second, Ethan let out a vile retching sound, and then Evelyn quickly withdrew her hand. Finally, he vomited.
The remnants of food on the floor gave off a disgusting sour smell, and the crowd around them scattered with a whoosh.
Avery was stunned and almost vomited herself. She covered her mouth and turned her face away.
"Water!" Evelyn didn't care about the filth on her hands and called out.
Lisa quickly handed over the water, and Evelyn fed it to Ethan bit by bit along the edge of his lips. After all this, Ethan still hadn't woken up, but he seemed to be doing better, at least not convulsing as severely as before.
Only then did Evelyn take a breath and turn to look at Avery, who was covering her mouth and nose. "He is prone to be allergic and should always carry anti-allergic medicine. Where is the medicine?"
Avery looked at Evelyn in disbelief. "I don't know. Is he prone to allergy?"
Evelyn was speechless.
If Avery were the child's mother, it would be impossible for her not to know that Ethan has an allergic constitution. Evelyn looked at Lisa, puzzled, and Lisa just smiled helplessly.
Fortunately, the ambulance had arrived, and the medical staff rushed over quickly. After a simple check, Ethan was sent to the ambulance.
Evelyn breathed a sigh of relief. With the hospital handling the rest, it was much better. Evelyn wiped her hands and was ready to pay the bill and leave, but Avery grabbed Evelyn's clothes. "You can't leave! You have to go to the hospital with me!"
"Avery!" Lisa exclaimed, "You can't do this! Evelyn is my friend!"
"I'm sorry, Lisa," Avery said, looking at Lisa, "Even if she is your friend, I have to make her go to the hospital with me. I'm not sure if Ethan will be okay. Evelyn did all those things to Ethan just now. Who knows if it might have harmed him instead?"
"That won't happen. I trust Evelyn!" Lisa confidently guaranteed that she trusted Evelyn very much.
Avery smiled bitterly. "No, I don't trust her. If anything happens to Ethan, I can't justify myself to Jackson. I secretly brought Ethan out today. If something like this happens, I..."
"Avery, I understand your difficulties, but Evelyn won't..." Lisa said.
"I'll go with her," Evelyn said calmly.
From Avery and Lisa's argument, Evelyn understood that Avery didn't trust her, fearing that her actions just now might have harmed Ethan.
She was also pushed to do so.
Severe food allergies could lead to shock, especially in children. If the condition worsens, without timely emergency measures, it could be fatal. Evelyn couldn't just watch the child suffocate to death. She had to do something.
"Evelyn..." Lisa looked at Evelyn with some guilt, thinking it was really impolite of Avery to do this.
"It's okay. I can understand her worries." Evelyn smiled slightly.
However, while Evelyn could understand a mother's worries, she really couldn't understand Avery's lack of understanding of Ethan. Small things could be overlooked, but for a life-threatening matter, it was impossible not to know anything about it.
At Avery's insistence, Evelyn went to the hospital with her, and Lisa, out of concern, naturally followed.
The child was sent in for resuscitation, and Avery, Evelyn, and Lisa were waiting outside. Avery was so anxious that she was pacing back and forth, and even Lisa's comfort didn't help.
Looking at Avery's anxious look, Evelyn felt that maybe she was overthinking it. She said to herself inwardly, 'No mother doesn't care about her child. Maybe Avery didn't think it through, or maybe Ethan just happened to have his first food allergy attack, and I happened to encounter it.'
Thinking about it, Evelyn felt that raising a child was not easy. She had originally thought that having a child would be quite nice, but now that thought quietly disappeared.
All of a sudden, the corridor echoed with the sound of hurried footsteps. The noise of leather shoes against the floor tiles was strikingly loud. Before Evelyn could turn around to identify the source of the noise, she noticed Avery freeze in her tracks, her face a mask of terror.
