Chapter 183 Too Dirty! Not Worth It!

"I'm fine!" Evelyn said, exasperated. "Do you want me to get out of bed and spin around to prove it?"

She began lifting the covers, ready to get up.

Samuel quickly stopped her, saying, "Alright, alright!"

She shook her head. "You don't believe me. I'm really fine, trust me."

"I was fine, but now I'm worried!" he sighed. "How did you get mixed up with these people?"

She thought for a moment. "At first, I didn't know who they were. But when Rosen showed up, I realized he was the culprit."

"Rosen? That name rings a bell." Samuel had only heard her mention him a couple of times and hadn't paid much attention.

"He was brought in by Liam and Vivian, but he doesn't work for their company. I'm not sure what their relationship is. But yeah, he's targeting me."

"So, it's Rosen behind this?" Samuel's eyes narrowed with anger.

Sensing his anger, she cupped his face, looking into his eyes. "Maybe it's Vivian's plan, maybe it's Rosen's. He seems interested in me."

He tensed up. "What do you mean he's interested in you? Why didn't I know this?"

"It's nothing major. He once tried to rape me but failed, and I taught him a lesson. I don't know if this incident is related to that. It could also be about the tasting competition. Vivian made it to the finals, so she must've made some sort of deal with him. Maybe it's their affair." Evelyn paused, realizing these were just guesses. When she asked Rosen, he didn't give a clear answer.

That lunatic only mentioned wanting to rape her before the police arrived.

It didn't make sense!

On TV, didn't the police usually show up after everything was over? They arrived too quickly!

"Whatever it is, he deserves to die!" Samuel said, ready to tear Rosen apart.

Evelyn felt his anger and was taken aback.

Not out of fear, but because she was touched. He was furious because someone hurt her.

"Rosen's already been arrested for kidnapping, colluding with international fugitives, and drug dealing. He won't have a good ending, so don't take matters into your own hands!" she gently held his hand. "He's too dirty. It's not worth it!"

His fingers were slender with thin calluses but perfectly proportioned. Such hands could dominate the business world, but getting Rosen's blood on them wasn't worth it!

"Drugs?" Samuel was shocked. "How do you know?"

If Evelyn told him Rosen had tried to inject her, he might actually kill Rosen.

She thought for a moment. "When I woke up, I heard the kidnappers talking about it. They might still have some samples. The police should take them as evidence."

He listened quietly, his grip on her hand tightening in anxiety.

What if those samples were still with the thugs? What if Evelyn had touched them or they used them on her?

It was terrifying!

"Let's go back!" he said firmly.

He wanted to take her away from this dangerous place. Just thinking about what could've happened if he hadn't arrived in time made him shudder.

Evelyn, who had been leaning on his shoulder, sat up straight. "No! I still have the final round of the competition. It's the finals."

"You're not going!" he said without hesitation.

No competition or prize mattered as long as she was safe.

"You..." she felt helpless.

However, she understood Samuel's worry.

Sighing, she didn't argue but looked down, disappointed. "Fine, I won't go. Even though I've prepared a lot and I'm sure I can win. The company and Olivia might be disappointed, but nothing is more important than you."

"You can just say anything, and nobody at the company will dare say stuff, anyway. How my colleagues look at me doesn't matter. I'll just go home, be a housewife, do beauty treatments, go shopping, and live comfortably!"

Despite her words, her face showed her reluctance.

Samuel knew she was being deliberate but also understood her dreams and aspirations. He had always supported her until now.

He sighed, finally relenting. "Alright, if you want to do it, go ahead. Just promise me you'll prioritize your safety. Nothing is more important than you."

"I knew you were the best," Evelyn said, quickly kissing his cheek with a smile.

He shook his head. "Is that enough?"

With one hand on the back of her head, he kissed her deeply. "I want it this way!"

With their lips pressed together and the sweet scent of Evelyn between them, he felt a bit more at ease. Even though she hadn't been hurt, he wanted to make sure she never would be.

Closing his eyes, he held her even tighter.
