Chapter 163 Love Without Knowing It

Pausing for a moment, Sophia smiled at Samuel. "Alright."

Walking back to the desk, she opened her bag, revealing a large lunch box. "I knew you'd forget everything when you're working. You haven't had anything, right?"

Glancing at the coffee in front of Samuel, she took it and poured it out. "It's not good for your stomach to skip dinner and keep drinking coffee. You don't know how to take care of yourself!"

As she said, she took Mexican dishes, which were not only beautiful in color but also very enticing to the nose.

"I specially made your favorite Mexican fried corncakes and tacos. Try them." Full of enthusiasm, she placed a fork and spoon in front of Samuel, hands supporting her chin, looking at Samuel with anticipation.

Samuel glanced over, coldly saying, "You made this?"

"Yes, have a taste," Sophia smiled, her eyes squinting, and urged Samuel to eat.

"You made this?" Samuel repeated, not inquiring. His eyes looked at Sophia very indifferently, as if he could see through all of Sophia's thoughts.

Pouting, Sophia stood up straight and stomped her foot. "Alright, I admit I got it from La Fiesta Sabrosa. I just got off the plane not long ago, very tired. Even if I wanted to cook, I wouldn't have had time to prepare the ingredients!"

"I didn't say you had to make it." Samuel took all food away, saying, "Since you're tired, you should go home and rest properly, not come running to me."

"But I wanted to see you!" Watching Samuel put the food aside without taking a bite, Sophia got angry. "Even if I didn't make it myself, I went to buy it for you! Just take a bite. You used to love La Fiesta Sabrosa's dishes, didn't you?"

"I'm not hungry," Samuel coldly replied, "It's late. I'll have Kyle take you back."

"I don't want to go back!" Sophia frowned, feeling very unhappy. "If you don't like takeout, then let's go out to eat. I'll accompany you!"

With that, she reached out to grab Samuel's wrist. "It's the perfect time to go out for supper. Let's go!"

Speaking softly and coquettishly, Sophia hurried to buy supper as soon as she got off the plane so she could see Samuel sooner. She didn't want to leave but to spend more time with Samuel.

"Stop it, Sophia!" Samuel forcefully pulled his hand away. "It's late, and since you just got off the plane, you must be tired. Go back and rest."

"No!" Sophia replied.

Seeing Samuel's persistence, Sophia finally couldn't hold back her temper. "Do you see how unhappy I am? We haven't seen each other in half a year! I came back and went out of my way to buy supper for you. If you don't want it, fine, but why do you have to drive me away?"

"It's not good for a girl to be outside at this hour." Samuel frowned. "Don't come over here so late anymore; it's not good."

"What's wrong with that? I like you, and everyone knows it. I came to see you," Sophia said loudly. If it weren't for the fact that everyone in the company had left for the day, people outside would have heard her confession.

Samuel looked at Sophia. "But I don't like you, Sophia. I've told you I see you as a sister. If you don't want that, then don't see me anymore."

The Bennett family and the Whitman family had always been close. The older generations of both families had had good relationships, and it was said that the Whitman family's patriarch was once helped by the Bennett family. This was why the two families were close and even considered marriage between their members.

Sophia's uncle married Samuel's aunt, so in a way, the two families were related.

Sophia's affection for Samuel was no secret. No matter how many times Samuel rejected her, she didn't give up. In Sophia's eyes, although Samuel had rejected her, there had been no other women around him. So she believed that perhaps Samuel also liked her, but due to the close relationship between the Bennett and Whitman families, Samuel thought of her only as a sister, not realizing that he had actually fallen in love with her.

This understanding kept Sophia persisting. She believed that one day, she would be able to move Samuel, to touch his heart, and that eventually, Samuel would be hers.

Seeing Samuel's expression change, Sophia was a little scared. Biting her lip, she tugged at his sleeve. "Alright, I just haven't seen you in so long. I miss you. Can't you be a bit less harsh? I went out of my way to buy supper for you. If you don't want it, fine, but don't scold me."

Tears were already welling up in Sophia's eyes, ready to fall at any moment.

Samuel glanced at Sophia, sighed, and said, "You're not a child anymore; you shouldn't be so willful. It's been over half a year; your parents and your brother must miss you. You should go home."

"They won't miss me; they only care about business. Now, even you are like this. All of you only care about business, not about me!" Sophia said this, taking the food again. "If you want me to go back, fine. You eat this first. Once you've eaten it, I'll leave."

Taking the food towards Samuel, she seemed determined to leave when he finished eating.

"Sophia, don't be willful!" Samuel understood Sophia's intentions. He found that the absence of hopeful outcomes was more injurious than not providing any at the onset.

Standing up and grabbing his coat, he said, "Kyle."

"Mr. Whitman." Kyle, who had been waiting outside for Samuel's command, immediately entered upon hearing his name.

"Take Sophia back," Samuel said.

"You..." Sophia didn't expect that Samuel wouldn't even agree to such a small request.

"Samuel, I hate you! Fine, if you don't eat it, I'll throw it in the trash." Angry, Sophia stormed out with all the food in her arms.

Kyle glanced outside, seeing Sophia rushing out quickly. He didn't react in time, not knowing what to do.

Samuel raised his chin. "Go check, then take Sophia home."

Although Sophia was willful, they had family ties. If something happened at night, Samuel would have an undeniable responsibility.

"Then you..." Kyle hesitated.

"I'll drive back in another car," Samuel said. "After you take her, go home and rest."

"Yes," Kyle replied and quickly followed after Sophia.

There was still a faint smell of dishes in the air. Samuel touched his stomach; he was a bit hungry.

Before taking the car keys and heading out, he checked the time, thinking about Evelyn in France, 'It is time for Evelyn to have dinner.'
