Chapter 87 Vivian, May I?

After ordering meal, Liam sat back on the edge of the bed, holding her hand again. "Is there anything else you'd like to eat or drink?"

His voice was gentle, his gaze tender, warming Vivian's heart. She shook her head. "No, I'm only a few months pregnant, not that delicate."

"Nonsense! Pregnant women must take care of themselves. It’s fine to be delicate."

Seeing his serious expression, Vivian teased him, "So, you're only treating me this way because of the baby. If there were no baby, I wouldn't be delicate, right?"

"You cannot think like that. You know very well that I do not see you in that light," Liam hurriedly explained, but upon seeing her teasing gaze, he realized he had been duped. He gently patted her side with his hand and remarked, "Mischievous! Dare to play tricks on me!"
Amused by him, Vivian giggled and scooted to the side. "No, no! I was just teasing you. But Liam, perhaps this child might not be coming at the most opportune moment?"
"Why?" His smile disappeared upon hearing this, instantly feeling displeased.
"Don't be upset. What I meant was, with recent improvements in the company and things finally falling into place, there's so much to be done, and we aren't even married yet."
Liam suddenly enlightened. "Ah, you are blaming me for not having proposed to you yet, aren't you? Rest assured, all of this is within my plans. I will surely give you a grand and perfect wedding!"
With that, he leaned in and planted a gentle kiss on her forehead.
Previously, his indecision stemmed from Evelyn's significant role in his life, which made it hard for him to move on. However, now that Evelyn had departed, he should have made up his mind by now.

Ultimately, it was Vivian who had consistently stood by his side. Regardless of the challenges he faced or moments of anger directed at her, she remained steadfastly loyal and unwavering.

He should have treated her well. He wanted to treat her well!

Thinking this, he couldn't help but be moved, pulling her into his arms. "Vivian, you've been through a lot lately."

His words brought tears to Vivian's eyes. She felt she had been through a lot and said, "So, you do know! I thought you didn't!"

"I know, I do know. I'm sorry. It's all my fault! I promise I will make sure you're happy from now on, okay?" He swore earnestly.

"Since you said it, there is no turning back!"

Liam nodded firmly. "I won't go back on my word!"

Vivian smiled, feeling happy at the moment.

Seeing her radiant smile, Liam felt overwhelmed . Despite the recent troubles at the factory, he hadn't been intimate with her for a while, and the separation these days made him yearn for her.

Gently caressing her visage from cheek to lip, after a prolonged moment of intimacy, he pressed his lips against hers and whispered, "Vivian, may I?"
Before she could respond, he quickly added, "I will try to be as gentle as possible. If you feel any discomfort, I will stop immediately, alright?"
The desire in his eyes was crystal clear to Vivian, yet she was acutely aware of her current physical condition. Not only did she have no desire for this, even if she were to reluctantly acquiesce, she feared she wouldn't be able to bear it.
Despite his soft pleading, she mustered the resolve to turn her head and said firmly, "Are you unable to control yourself? Do you not care at all about my well-being? You just promised you wouldn't let me suffer again, but do you realize that this is the most unstable period? Are you so blinded by your own desires that you disregard me and our unborn child? Would you be able to live with yourself if something went wrong?"
With lowered eyes, a glance from the side revealed her profound distress, leaving Liam instantly crestfallen.

"I'm sorry, it's my fault! I couldn't control myself. I wasn't considerate enough." Apologizing repeatedly, he stood up after a moment. "You rest for a while. The meal will be here soon. I'll take a shower."

With that, he headed straight into the bathroom.

Soon, the sound of running water could be heard from inside. Vivian knew he must be taking a cold shower, using this rough and simple method to suppress his instincts.

She felt a pang of guilt in her heart.

After all, Liam had been quite good to her. He had come all this way to see her, which made her genuinely happy.

Once certain events had unfolded, there was no turning back. Since she had invested, she must receive returns in kind. Between her and Rosen, it was simply a transaction. Once each party obtained what they desired, they would inevitably part ways.
By proceeding with caution, she was confident she could strike a delicate balance in this situation. With a gentle caress on her abdomen, she had not truly decided on the fate of the child. Judging from Liam's reaction, he seemed keen on the unborn child. Perhaps it was best to retain the child for now. It may prove to be a valuable bargaining chip in due time.
When Cathy returned to the hotel at the end of the day, she was exhausted but didn't rush to shower and rest. Instead, she opened her laptop and dealt with emails and work.

During their time together, Evelyn increasingly realized that Cathy was quite capable. She had a passion for fragrance blending but needed more natural talent.

The world of fragrance blending was truly unfair. Some people were born with sensitive noses and discerning abilities, much like top perfumers, much like her.

Then there were those like Cathy and Vivian, who, despite their talent, still couldn't measure up, and the disparity compared to those gifted was considerable.

Vivian did have some talent, or else she couldn't have made her way in this industry. However, the difference between them was that Cathy worked much harder than she did.

Cathy not only had extensive experience but also exercised regularly. She read a lot of books and researched a lot of information, and many times, Evelyn saw Cathy alone comparing the differences between various perfumes, testing herself based on formulas and data.

On the contrary, Vivian focused all her attention on how to seduce Liam and take credit for others' work rather than putting effort into improving her technical skills. She was more engrossed in office politics.

Because of this, when Evelyn made slight changes to the formula data left at Liavian Perfumes, she left Vivian at a loss, completely unable to respond.

With nothing else to do at the moment, she didn't disturb Cathy. Instead, she leaned back on the sofa, playing with her phone. Opening a text message, she typed a line to Samuel.

Evelyn: [I'm back.]
