Chapter 210 Look at Your Lack of Ambition
Samuel said, "In fact, it has nothing to do with me."
When facing Evelyn's incredulous eyes, Samuel changed his tune again. "Well, I admit it does have a tiny bit to do with me."
Evelyn didn't believe Samuel
Evelyn asked, "A tiny bit?"
Previously, he adamantly insisted it had absolutely nothing to do with him. Now, he conceded there was a slight connection.
"Truly, just a tiny bit!" Samuel affirmed, gripping Evelyn's shoulders as if such a gesture could somehow bolster her trust in him.
"I just leaked some information to the French police, suggesting the possibility of the mastermind behind the scenes, and threw in some small pieces of evidence. The rest was done by the police. The person was caught by the police, they are the ones who detained Vivian, and they are the ones who determined the charges. Really, I have no connection at all, really!"
"So, is it really Vivian who instructed someone to kidnap me behind the scenes?" Evelyn thought for a moment, finding it quite hard to believe. Never did she expect that the seemingly gentle Vivian would do such a malicious thing.
But Samuel just shrugged. "I'm not sure."
"You were uncertain, and yet you tipped off the police?" she asked, eyes wide open, staring at him in disbelief.
Samuel said, "But I am sure that Vivian does have ill intentions towards you. I have let her go twice before in the country, there won't be a third time.”
Alright, in any case, Samuel was doing this for Evelyn. Even if Samuel informed the police, without solid evidence, they probably wouldn't easily convict her. Perhaps Vivian did something, but Evelyn was unaware of it.
"How was my performance today, impressive or not?" Samuel proudly asked, putting his arm around her shoulder.
Rolling her eyes helplessly, Evelyn said, "Impressive! Not just impressive, but really amazing!"
If this were a TV drama, there should definitely be a soundtrack playing when Samuel appeared, incredibly impressive!
"So, should I get a reward?" Samuel leaned in.
Evelyn lightly kissed his cheek. "Enough, right?"
"You're so stingy!" Samuel expressed dissatisfaction and proactively sought his reward. "I want this..."
With that, he kissed Evelyn on the lips.
After settling the bill, a dejected Liam stepped out of the hotel, only to be confronted with such an astonishing scene that left him utterly shocked.
The Evelyn who should have been following Liam and listening to him, was now happily nestling on Samuel's embrace, passionately kissing Samuel, while Liam no longer had a chance. What Liam missed out on was not just Evelyn, but also the Jones family behind Evelyn, as well as immeasurable wealth and value, which made him deeply regretful. However, Liam could only clench his fists and stand there, with no other way to act.
Deep down, Liam bitterly thought of Evelyn, filled with regret.
As night deepened, the bar street was just coming alive, awash with neon lights and a vibrant atmosphere. Each patron wandered through the maze of revelry. Liam had lost count of how many bottles he had drunk. He felt utterly defeated, as if his life had never been as bleak as it was now. It felt like everything was over!
"Hey handsome, it's no fun drinking alone; care to join me for a drink?" a hot woman approached, teasingly close to Liam.
Lifting his head, Liam couldn't even see clearly who was in front of him, raising his glass in a daze. "Sure! Come, drink with me!"
At that moment, someone strode up to them, grabbed the woman, disregarding her screams, and tossed her aside. Liam, hiccupping from the alcohol, turned fierce, "Who are you, how dare you interfere with my..."
Before he could finish his sentence, he was already grabbed by the collar and dragged out of the bar.
"Who are you, what do you want?" Liam asked.
Liam was dragged out of the bar, and the sharp gust of cold wind outside sent a shiver down his spine, sobering him up a little.
He was thrown directly into the back seat of a car, the door shut behind him. He fell awkwardly onto the seat, half-lying there, the impact almost making him vomit.
Liam said, "You dare to mess with me..."
A splash of cold water hit Liam's face, instantly waking him up in this weather.
Ava said, "Are you awake now?"
Upon hearing this familiar yet cold voice, Liam immediately recognized who it was. AS the car lights came on, Ava's exquisite and proud face was revealed.
Liam called, "Mom."
All the pent-up frustration and grievances seemed to be released at that moment, as Liam rushed over, burying his head in Ava's lap, crying loudly.
This time, Ava did not reproach Liam for failing to address her as Ms. Mitchell. Instead, she merely sighed softly, placed a hand on the back of his head, and let him cry.
After crying for a while, Liam was probably tired of crying, sitting up straight, wiping his face with his arm covered in tears and snot. Ava frowned, grabbed a towel from the side, and handed it to him. "What a sight!"
Wiping his face, Liam gradually regained his composure. " Sorry, I lost control."
"You know you lost control?" Ava snorted disdainfully, "Look at yourself!"
Liam said, "Mom, I'm done for, my company is completely finished! What should I do? I've disappointed you!" After wiping away his tears and sensing the possibility of breaking down once more, Liam reclined against the seat, determined not to succumb to his emotions as he had before.
Ava said, "Where are you going with this? What do you mean it's over! If you give up now, that's when you truly disappoint me!"
Liam hesitated to speak, "But I..."
Ignoring Liam, Ava continued, "Your father died at the casino, trying to sell me and you. I've endured so much hardship with you. Do you think it was easy for me to marry into the Redwood family? Over these years, what conspiracies and tricks haven't I seen? What you're facing now is nothing. Is it worth you crying like this?"
Liam felt somewhat ashamed after Ava's words, momentarily at a loss for words.
