Chapter 152 It Was Your Flavor

"Why be afraid? They are all my hired help." Laura thought for a moment, feeling there was nothing to fear, and felt even quite delightful.

Shaking her head, Evelyn sat cross-legged opposite Laura, sipping juice delicately.

"Evelyn, what have you mixed up? The smell is quite complex. Are you really creating a new product? This new product is truly unique." Since sitting in the taxi, Laura had been earnestly sniffing and analyzing, but the scent was so chaotic that she couldn't distinguish anything.

The scent may be too strong, making it hard to discern.

"I haven't decided, just trying it out." Evelyn shook her head, pondering.

In fact, Evelyn was venting, randomly mixing some spices and essential oils without a clear goal. Still, a few casual remarks from Cathy and Laura inadvertently stirred something in Evelyn.

It might be possible to create something unique.

Whether it was perfume or spice oils, all the scents in the world were inherently unique and special; each combination may yield different results—subtle or strong, fresh or captivating; for most people, it could be quite impactful, challenging to accept, and there was no guarantee everyone wouldlike it.

"I think you should probably take a shower first."

Regardless, it was best to freshen up first.

As they spoke, the sound of a car outside could be heard. Laura instinctively stood up from the sofa. "Mr. Whitman is back. I should leave."

"Samuel is not a wild beast. You don't need to be nervous." Evelyn gestured to Laura, setting down her juice and walking towards the door to greet Samuel.

"You're back early today." Samuel began to speak but paused, standing there looking at Evelyn while Kyle behind Samuel sneezed a few times.

The first two sneezes were uncontrollable. The last one was stifled.

Evelyn was curious, 'Was the scent really that strong? Was the smell on me bothering them much?'

"You..." Samuel glanced at Evelyn. "Were you in the lab again today? Another new creation?"

"A new experiment." Evelyn shrugged. "How does it feel?"

Samuel nodded. "Very impressive."

Laura stood by and admired him. She thought Samuel was indeed emotionally intelligent and spoke with skill.

Clearly, Samuel also noticed Laura's presence at home, giving her a nod as a greeting.

"Hello, Mr. Whitman!" For some reason, when Samuel looked over, Laura tensed up all over and stood up straight reflexively.

Evelyn couldn't help but laugh. "This isn't the office. Are you saluting your superior?"

"It's a habit," Laura replied.

Although Evelyn told Laura not to be too formal, facing Samuel always made her involuntarily nervous. Samuel wasn't harsh, but his inherent aura made people subconsciously tense up, unable to relax.

Thinking about it, Laura really admired Evelyn because not everyone could stay calm around Samuel.

"Evelyn, it's getting late. I should head back." Laura picked up her bag, preparing to say goodbye.

"It's late, you're just going to..." Evelyn hadn't finished speaking when Samuel interjected, "Kyle."

With just that call, Kyle immediately understood. "Laura, I'll drive you home."

"No, I've troubled you twice already; I'll just grab a cab; I can still find one now." Laura waved her hand to decline.

"Then I'll walk you down to get a cab," Kyle continued.

Laura fell silent.

Seeing Laura and Kyle, Evelyn smiled, walked over to Laura, and patted her shoulder. "Just accept it!"

On the side, Kyle couldn't help but sneeze.

Once Laura and Kyle left, Evelyn planned to go upstairs to take a shower. Initially, she didn't think much of it, but after Kyle sneezed several times, Evelyn finally realized how pungent the scent on her was.

Just now, Evelyn had only walked to Laura's side, still a distance from Kyle, yet Kyle couldn't stop sneezing from the stimulation. This indicated that if Evelyn got closer to Samuel, the scent would be incredibly strong.

"I'll go take a shower," Evelyn said.

As she turned, Samuel grabbed her wrist and pulled her into his arms.

"I don't smell good, so don't hug me!" Evelyn squirmed, softly protesting.

Unexpectedly, Samuel held Evelyn tighter, lowering his head to inhale the scent from Evelyn's shoulder deeply. "Who told you that? The scent on you is pleasant; it's your scent, and it's unique to you."

Evelyn fell silent.

Evelyn had to admit that those words were quite charming, and even if they were to comfort her, Evelyn felt happy.

"Consider it a compliment. I'll take it, but I still need to shower; otherwise, I won't be able to stand it." Evelyn lightly patted Samuel's cheek, smiling faintly.

After her bath, Evelyn's mind wandered to the wood carving shop. Although Alex had a bad temper, he didn't seem unreliable when it came to keeping promises. However, apart from phone calls, Evelyn didn't know much about Alex. If she couldn't reach Alex again, the matter concerning the next new product might have to be put on hold temporarily.

The small piece of leftover wood from last time wasn't enough for the new product experiment. Sometimes, the harder something was to obtain, the more one desired it, making it unforgettable.

After some thought, Evelyn quickly dried off in the bath, wrapped herself in a robe, and emerged.

Samuel had evidently already showered in the other bathroom, wearing pajamas and lying on the bed reading documents. Upon hearing Evelyn, he set aside the documents and looked at her.

However, Evelyn's attention was completely elsewhere. She briskly walked to her clothes, rummaging through them, then pulled open a drawer, finding nothing. After a moment of thought, she turned her head to glance at Samuel.

Seeing Evelyn look at him, Samuel raised an eyebrow but noticed that her gaze wasn't focused on him; she was lost in thought.

Samuel couldn't help but speak, "Are you looking for..."

Before he could finish the sentence, Evelyn had already walked over, opened the door, and headed downstairs.

She was gone.

For the first time, Samuel was completely ignored. He leaned against the wall for a few seconds, realizing that even he could be ignored, especially by Evelyn.

As Samuel hesitated between waiting here for Evelyn to return or going downstairs to see what she was up to, footsteps outside indicated Evelyn's return.
