Chapter 177 Why So Terrifying

Despite his calm face, Nathan's eyes widened in clear shock.

Maybe he didn't expect Evelyn to be so fierce, being so ruthless and moving so fast he couldn't even see clearly.

"Now, tell me, who's your employer?" she asked, glancing at him.

Nathan snapped out of it and sneered, turning away in denial of cooperation.

Evelyn didn't care. She walked up to him, searched him, and pulled out a cell phone.

It had a fingerprint lock. She used his finger to unlock it, then wiped her hands with a tissue from the bedside table, looking a bit disgusted.

While grabbing the tissue, she noticed the tray James had left. She remembered it and brought it over.

Sitting back down with the tray on her lap, she scrolled through the call records. "This number contacted you a lot recently, but it's not a relative. This is probably your employer, right?" She showed Nathan the phone. He turned away.

She rummaged through the tray, finding syringes, needles, and a small bottle. She didn't know what it was, but figured it wasn't good.

She quickly filled the syringe, attached the needle, and went to kick Michael. "Are you dead?"

Michael groaned in pain, looking terrified.

"If not, make a call," Evelyn said, shaking the phone.

"What call?" he asked, scared.

"Call your employer. Say it's done here and ask when he's coming."

"He'll be here in two days," he said, frowning. "Two days."

"Michael!" Nathan shouted, meaning Michael had said too much.

Evelyn smirked. "I almost forgot about you. You're really annoying."

With a casual gesture, Nathan found himself unable to speak.

Michael was stunned, too shocked to even cry out. He stared at Evelyn like she was a demon.

"In two days? That'll mess up my plans," she thought. If it were in two days, it'd interfere with her final competition round. Did they want her disqualified?

Evelyn said, "Tell him something happened here. There was an overdose, so I died. Then, wait for him to come."

"Died?" Michael's eyes widened. He didn't get what Evelyn meant. "I-I can't."

"Can't?!" she sneered. "You didn't hesitate when you tied me up and drugged me! You've been up to no good for years, and now you can't make a call? How come?"

"I..." Michael was speechless.

"If you don't, I'll inject this into you!" she threatened, moving as if to inject him.

Michael's face went pale. "No! I'll do it."

Seeing him so scared, she got curious. "What is this stuff? What did you put in it?"

He didn't answer, so she pretended to inject him again. He flinched and said, "It's a drug."

Her expression changed instantly, stomping on him. "You're using drugs!"

Michael said in frustration, "It's not ours; it's from the employer. They said it's for you, to make you listen."

He coughed up blood.

"Listen?" Evelyn's face turned icy, her eyes full of hatred.

"I didn't know. We did it for the money. We hadn't even used it on you yet, just..." Michael wailed, fearing she'd break his neck.

He thought, 'She's terrifying! Why is she so terrifying? We can't resist; she's got us completely under control.'

Michael's cries woke up James, who furrowed his brows and moved, causing the blanket over his head to slip off.

James saw the scene and was stunned.

'What's going on?' he thought.

"You're awake," Evelyn said, furious. James was supposed to inject her.

Not only did he want to drug her, but he also wanted to rape her.

"Now that you're awake, this good stuff should be for you." She walked straight toward him.

He was stunned and shouted, "Michael! Nathan!"

"Nathan's silenced; he can't speak!" Michael snorted.

"What?" James couldn't figure out what had happened.

'In such a short time, how did she control all of us, even making Nathan mute and leaving Michael like this?' he thought.

James looked bewildered but saw the needle approaching.

"Ms. Taylor, let's talk." He leaned against the bed, taking a deep breath.

James knew the syringe contained drugs. If injected, he'd be in serious trouble.

The thugs avoided drugs, fearing it would ruin everything.

"Alright, I'd love to talk. However, your friends aren't cooperating. You're smart, so call your employer. Let's settle this once and for all. How about that?" Evelyn's voice was gentle, making her seem kind and not like a demon.

James might not know what she could do yet, but Michael already did!
