Chapter 54 Of course, I love you!

It couldn't be denied that due to their time spent together and everything he did for her, she definitely had feelings for Samuel. However, she was not completely sure if she "loved" him or if her feelings for him had reached the level of "love."

Samuel, handsome and wealthy, was considerate and caring. All of this made it hard for her not to be moved. She liked him, but… did she love him?

Samuel's response to her answer was expected. He smiled slightly, gently rubbing her lips with his thumb. "No need to rush, we have plenty of time. You will gradually fall in love with me."

"But..." She paused for a moment, and he continued, "I won't take the final step until you are certain of your feelings and truly desire to give yourself to me."

Seeing him let go of her and stand up as if to leave, Evelyn regained her senses and hurriedly asked, "Do you love me?"

He asked her if she loved him, but she couldn't be sure. What about him?

Samuel turned to look at her, a smile on his lips and love in his eyes. "Of course, I love you!"

Evelyn looked at him in shock, finding it difficult to digest these words.

She thought he would hesitate, deny, or be ambiguous about it, but she never expected him to be so certain and direct.

Love her? But they hadn't known each other for long, why did he love her?

Before she could speak to ask, Samuel said, "Alright, next time when you take a shower, you mustn't fall asleep again. I don't want you to get sick before you fall in love with me. If you're not too tired, get dressed and come down for dinner."

With Evelyn alone in the room, her fast heartbeat took a long time to calm down.

Evelyn got dressed and went downstairs. When she reached the stairs, she could already smell the food. Samuel was sitting at the head of the dining table, the food and utensils already arranged.

Today's dishes were especially abundant. Although each dish was not large in portion, there were many varieties.

Evelyn glanced over. "Did you order takeout?"

"Sort of."

If the chef from a five-star restaurant specially made the food and delivered it to the door, it could be considered takeout. Still, it was just another form of takeout.

Samuel carefully picked out the bones from the fish and placed the fish on her plate with natural ease.

Evelyn, however, was not used to it.

She looked at the fish in her plate, then at Samuel who was deboning the fish. "I can remove the bones from the fish myself, you don't have to do it for me."

"I'm not doing it for you," he said casually. "I just prefer picking out fish bones..."

Evelyn was rendered speechless

Samuel also put the peeled shrimp into her plate and continued, "And the shells, I peeled them."

The plate was not large, but it was packed full by him. There were fish, shrimp, vegetables, meat, and eggs, rich in nutrients and delicious in taste. She felt that her heart was filled just like this plate in front of her.

She hadn't experienced the feeling of being cherished for a long time. Since she could remember, she had to accept various strict education and training. When she grew up, she finally broke free from the constraints of her family and chose the profession she liked, doing what she loved. But later, she failed in a major competition, was mocked by others, and completely severed ties with her family because of Liam's incident.

Years of independence had made her develop a habit. She felt that she could rely on herself for everything, so it didn't matter that Liam couldn't accompany her because he was busy with his career. Every time they finished eating, Liam would always put down his utensils and leave, and she could understand. But over time, her heart would also grow tired.

By Samuel's side, however, she felt the sense of being cared for that she hadn't experienced for a long time.

Seeing her holding the fork without moving, Samuel asked, "What's wrong? Don't you like this food?"

He deliberately selected several different types, afraid that these dishes wouldn't suit her taste. "Which cuisine do you like?"

"It doesn't matter what cuisine; what matters is who I'm eating with." Evelyn took a deep breath, smiled, and took a bite of the dish. "It's delicious!"

Moreover, she took the initiative to bring a shrimp to Samuel's lips and said, "Try it."

He paused for a moment, looked at the shrimp in front of him, smiled, opened his mouth, and slowly chewed.

Watching him eat gracefully, Evelyn thought for a moment and said, "When you asked me the question earlier, I thought about it carefully. Indeed, I can't say I love you now, but that doesn't mean I don't love you. After all, we haven't spent a long time together, but I feel like I will fall in love with you."

If she weren't so serious, Samuel would almost think she was joking with him. She discussed the question of whether she loved him very seriously, true to her character!

Evelyn didn't wait for his response but saw him staring at her. Evelyn thought he wasn't satisfied with her answer.

"I don't want to deceive you. I'm telling you my true thoughts."

"I know." Samuel smiled and nodded. "I also said, there's no need to rush."

Staring into his eyes, Evelyn confirmed that he wasn't speaking insincerely. She finally felt relieved, but at the same time, that doubt also troubled her. "But earlier you said..."

After hesitating for a moment, she asked, "Why do you love me?"

For a long while, silence enveloped the air. It was as if the entire world had vanished, leaving only Evelyn and Samuel facing each other. Confusion clouded Evelyn's eyes, while Samuel's gaze was complex, as though it contained a multitude of unspoken words.

Samuel slowly raised a hand and caressed her cheek. His voice was low and magnetic as he slowly said, "Everything, anything."

Evelyn's heart was beating so fast it felt like it was going to burst out of her chest. She looked into his eyes and saw the unabashed expression in them. Although it felt absurd to her, she had no doubt that he meant it when he said he loved her.

But, this feeling was truly peculiar.
Evelyn covered the hand that was caressing her cheek and squeezed it slightly, saying, "I will also come to love everything about you."

Samuel smiled slightly.

After dinner, Evelyn habitually wanted to clean up the dishes, but Samuel was faster and directly took the utensils into the kitchen, placing them into the dishwasher and starting the program. He turned to look at her and said, "I told you, you're not allowed to enter the kitchen anymore."

"I told you, I'm not that fragile."

Samuel wrapped his arms around her waist and said, "To me, you are more precious than anything else."

He kissed her forehead and then let go, holding her wrist instead. "Come, I want to show you something."

Samuel led her to the living room and had her sit down, while he went to the study. After a while, he came out again, holding something that looked like a contract.

"Take a look," he said, confirming it once again before handing her the contract.
