Chapter 196 Am I A Big Baby?

When Samuel blocked Sophia and was about to hit the road, he noticed Evelyn giving him this look, like she was reading his mind or something. It made him squirm a bit. "It's Sophia. Our families are kinda tight, so I see her like a sister."

Seeing Samuel all flustered and trying to explain himself, Evelyn chuckled. "Sister, huh?"

Samuel thought the word "sister" sounded off, so he cleared his throat. "She's like family, but not in the way you're thinking..."

"What way am I thinking?" Evelyn shot back quickly.

Evelyn wasn't trying to mess with Samuel on purpose, but it was the first time she'd seen him so worked up and animated. The more he squirmed, the more she wanted to tease him.

Honestly, Samuel didn't need to explain anything to Evelyn. With his looks and status, even if he didn't make a move, women would still be all over him.

"Evelyn..." Samuel sighed, feeling a bit helpless. He wanted to say more, but Evelyn waved it off. "It's cool. No need to get all worked up. Everyone's got a few exes!"

Evelyn's chill attitude made Samuel even more frustrated. "You're not jealous at all?"

"Since she's your 'sister,' why would I be jealous?" Evelyn blinked, all innocent-like.

Samuel was technically right, but did Evelyn really not feel a bit off about it?

Nodding, Samuel started the car, feeling annoyed. The source of his annoyance? Evelyn, who was chilling in the passenger seat, leaning back and dozing off like she didn't have a care in the world.

Evelyn genuinely wasn't jealous. Sure, she was a bit surprised hearing Sophia's voice, but Samuel was open with her, so there was nothing to worry about.

Still, if Samuel did cheat on Evelyn, breaking up or even divorcing her would just take a word. No need to hide it or make a big show in front of her.

She slept soundly, totally unaware that Samuel was brooding the whole time.

When they got to their destination, Evelyn woke up instinctively and glanced outside. They were at the hotel parking lot, and she woke up just in time.

"Your driving's pretty smooth. I didn't even notice we were here," Evelyn said, unbuckling her seatbelt and giving Samuel a compliment.

Samuel stayed silent. Evelyn really didn't care; she wasn't jealous at all.

Sighing, he didn't know whether to praise Evelyn's chill vibe or complain about her indifference.

From getting out of the car to taking the elevator and heading back to their room, Evelyn felt something was off. Why did Samuel seem like he had something on his mind and looked a bit unhappy? Was it because of that phone call earlier?

Evelyn was in the car at the time. Samuel blocked Sophia's contact to show Evelyn he didn't want any misunderstandings.

Samuel mentioned that the Bennett family and the Whitman family had some ties, and Sophia was like a sister to him, so blacklisting her felt a bit extreme.

Thinking about it, Evelyn figured she should step up and show her stance. She was pretty chill and not the jealous type.

"Honestly, I don't think you need to block Sophia. Maybe she really has something important to say. Blocking her would make things awkward when you see her again, right?" Evelyn said, carefully taking out the Marseille soap she brought back today.

Raising an eyebrow and looking at her back, Samuel asked coolly, "So, you want me to unblock her?"

"Yeah!" Evelyn nodded, not seeing any issue, and kept working. She added, "Since the Bennett and Whitman families are tight, you can't just cut her off like that, right? Blocking her means you'll never see her again? Never meet her family? It's best to talk it out. Blocking is just..."

"What is it?" Samuel's voice got even colder, and he was already standing behind Evelyn.

"Nothing!" Evelyn poked the Marseille soap with her finger, feeling its smooth texture. Looking at her finger, she smiled. "I just think you're being a big baby."

Sophia had just called Samuel crying, and he went ahead and blocked her. As Evelyn said, would they never meet again and completely cut off contact? That was impossible!

Having spent some years with the Jones family, Evelyn understood these family connections and relationships. Family ties often involved long-standing interests and couldn't be easily severed based on personal whims.

Evelyn shared her thoughts objectively, not noticing Samuel's sour expression. "Am I a big baby?"

Finally realizing something was off, Evelyn turned around to find Samuel standing there, looking very displeased.

Was he not happy?

"No, I was talking about..." Before she could finish, Samuel pulled her into his arms and kissed her fiercely, shutting her up.

At that moment, Evelyn was confused. Weren't they having a serious conversation? Why the sudden kiss? It seemed like Samuel was the one being forceful, radiating anger.

Blinking, Evelyn waited until Samuel let her go, giving her some breathing space. She guessed the reason for his anger. "You're embarrassed to add her back, aren't you?"

Indeed, if Samuel had blocked her and then actively added Sophia back, it would have been quite undignified.

Men!

Just as Samuel was about to "punish" the occasionally careless Evelyn again, the phone rang, this time a video call request, sounding urgent.

"Did you already unblock her?" Evelyn thought it was Sophia again, quite persistent!

Samuel frowned. He knew he hadn't unblocked her, but it was rare for someone to invite him for a video call, so he turned to pick up the phone.
