Chapter 17 Feel Free to Reach out to Me Anytime
The car was driving fast, and soon the car behind them was left behind and disappeared.
Evelyn turned her head and said clearly, "He sent someone to follow me just to see if I still have any connection with Neogenito Fragrances."
"What?" Samuel raised an eyebrow. "Did you promise him not to go to Neogenito Fragrances?"
"I didn't promise anything. But he might think he has convinced me."
In truth, she hadn't made any promises. Liam had simply assumed he had fooled her once more with a blatant lie.
This scenario was familiar. It wasn't their first rodeo; he had become adept at deception long ago.
Little did he realize, Evelyn had once placed significant trust in him. However, upon witnessing his betrayal and entanglement with Vivian, all that trust crumbled. How could she trust his words?
"What are you going to do then?" Samuel didn't intervene with Evelyn's decision and asked with interest. He was even a little curious about how she would strike back.
To be honest, after learning that that bastard Liam had hurt Evelyn, Samuel had originally planned to seek revenge for her. But now, it seemed that his wife didn't completely need his protection. She had her own ways.
Evelyn calmly looked ahead and said, "He wants to hold a press conference and wants me to take all the responsibility."
"Is that so?" Samuel's voice remained calm, but his gaze became cold. "When?"
"He didn't say. But I guess it won't be tomorrow, maybe tonight."
"Why?"
"Because he can't wait any longer."
Evelyn turned to him and said, "What occurred last night not only stripped him of his dignity but also tarnished Liavian Perfumes' reputation. He's growing impatient and the organizing committee is delving into the matter as well. We need a resolution promptly."
"Are you planning to confess?"
Although Samuel asked this question, he didn't think she would be obedient like that.
"Unless I'm crazy," Evelyn said firmly. "I will take back everything that belongs to me, including the interest."
The Evelyn in front of Samuel had the same serene face as in his memory. She was beautiful, but not the kind that would stun you at first sight. Instead, the more you looked at her, the more captivating she became, making you unable to take your eyes off her, tempting you to pamper her.
Gently brushing the hair by her ear, he murmured, "If you need anything, come find me at any time."
These simple words warmed Evelyn's heart deeply.
During her time with Liam, she grew accustomed to relying solely on herself for everything. Liam, engrossed in launching his business, networking, and expanding the market, scarcely had time to share meals, watch movies, or engage in meaningful conversations with her. Save for the occasional success in their product research, she seldom felt his warmth.
There were moments when she even doubted her worth compared to other employees.
Whenever Evelyn voiced her concerns, Liam urged her to be understanding and not to disturb him with complaints.
Slowly, she got used to it.
Now, as Samuel uttered those words, tears welled up in Evelyn's eyes instantly. Naturally, she leaned on his shoulder. "I will."
She didn't expect to take the initiative to move closer, and Samuel was stunned for a moment. When her gentle voice entered his ears again, he immediately smiled happily.
Evelyn nestled in his arms, unusually calm, and asked softly, "Where are we going now?"
"Let's go eat," he said. "You haven't eaten anything."
"How do you know?"
Evelyn was surprised and thought, 'Did he install a tracker on me?'
As if guessing what she was thinking, Samuel laughed and said, "I don't have the creepy hobby of surveillance tracking. I can see and hear without it!"
His fingers suddenly poked her stomach.
Evelyn felt itchy and dodged, only to realize that her stomach was growling with hunger.
...
Samuel took her to the Sky Garden Restaurant halfway up the mountain.
This restaurant was famous in the city for its unique design and first-class scenery.
The restaurant had hired senior chefs from three-star Michelin restaurants. With that said, regardless of your flavor preference, you could find one that suited you.
...
Naturally, the price was prohibitively high, making it unattainable for the average person. Nonetheless, securing a seat often proved to be a lengthy endeavor. Some seats were even designated for specific individuals. For instance...
Evelyn looked at the man sitting across from her as he elegantly took the menu and handed it to her. People had been greeting him since their car arrived. It seemed that he had already reserved a spot.
"You can order," he said.
"Miss, what type of cuisine do you like? We have a special menu for you to choose from," the waiter said attentively.
Evelyn thought for a moment and said, "Kintonese cuisine."
Then she looked up at Samuel. "What do you think?"
"I'm fine with it," he casually replied.
He wasn't very picky.
Evelyn looked at the menu, and the prices were shocking. She knew the restaurant was expensive, but she didn't expect it to be this expensive. Although she didn't have to pay, she couldn't help but feel shocked.
Seeing that she still hadn't ordered, Samuel asked in confusion, "What's wrong?"
"It's nothing. I just have a fear of making choices," she joked. But for a moment, she really didn't know what to order.
Samuel looked at her deeply and said to the waiter, "Bring a few of the signature Kintonesian dishes first, she will decide on the rest later."
"Okay!"
The waiter quickly left, and Evelyn was relieved.
She thought, 'Since he already ordered, I don't have to worry anymore.'
She closed the menu directly, put it aside, and didn't have to look at those terrifying numbers again.
Evelyn wasn't impoverished; she simply seldom indulged herself like this. During the startup phase, Liam frequently emphasized the importance of frugality to her, so she grew accustomed to it.
Habits were really a scary thing!
The food was quickly served; it didn't take long. But as soon as she took the first bite, Evelyn's phone rang.
Laura's name was flashing on the screen. She apologetically looked at Samuel and answered the call.
"Evelyn, I've been granted leave," Laura said directly.
"He approved it?" The tone on the other end of the phone sounded quite cheerful.
"He approved it! He approved it quickly! Evelyn, you guessed it right. He now wants to keep me far away from him. When he heard that I wanted to travel, he even asked me to stay a few more days. Evelyn, he must be planning something!"
"I know."
Laura's voice was loud, perhaps audible even to Samuel. Evelyn coughed awkwardly and said, "Then enjoy yourself a bit more."
"At a time like this, I don't feel like playing. Evelyn, do you really not need me to stay here to help you? What if he tries to shift the blame onto you? I would be a witness!"
