Chapter 190 Samuel Was Jealous

"You've been in there a while," Samuel said.

Evelyn came out after everyone else had left.

"Mr. Thompson wanted to chat. It took a bit of time," she nodded.

"What did he say?" he asked.

She recalled Matthew's words. "He invited me to join his team."

"Did you agree?" he asked.

"No, I turned him down." she shook her head, looking out the car window at the flickering streetlights. Pareleson at night was stunning. Despite the opportunity, she refused.

"Why'd you refuse? Can't bear to leave me?" Samuel joked.

She glared at him. 'What a narcissist!'

"I want to create my own brand; something unique. I want Vistalia to be known in the perfume world," Evelyn said, her eyes shining brighter than the city lights.

He admired her determination, softly saying, "I believe you can do it."

She leaned into his embrace, feeling content. Having someone who supported her was a blessing.

"Oh, right!" she suddenly remembered. "Vivian didn't show up today. It's odd."

"Maybe she thought she couldn't win and backed out," he shrugged.

"No, she wouldn't give up. She worked hard to get here. Something must've happened," Evelyn insisted.

She wondered, 'Was she kidnapped? No, it can't be.'

She eyed Samuel suspiciously. "Did you..."

They had suspected Vivian might've done some things, but had no proof. Given Samuel's personality, he might've done something.

He raised his hands. "I didn't do anything! Vivian's not worth my time."

Evelyn considered his words. Vivian really wasn't worth the trouble.

Frowning, she felt uneasy.

After the competition, everyone went home. Samuel had called Olivia back to the company for an urgent task, leaving just him and Evelyn in Francis.

"Aren't we going back?" she asked, curious about where he was taking her. With everyone else gone, it was just the two of them.

"I promised you a trip before, but the competition delayed it. We're making up for that now!" he said excitedly.

He somehow got a convertible sports car, and they drove down a wide road. It felt like a scene from an art film.

"But I had plans with Laura and Cathy!" Evelyn sighed, feeling a bit regretful.

"Am I not as good as them?" Samuel glanced at her, clearly jealous.

"Alright, you're the best! Now focus on driving!" she said, turning his face forward with both hands. Safety came first.

He smiled, pleased. "You're with me for now; next time, you can go with Laura and Cathy."

"Where can I get so many vacations? Do you think I'm a free person?" she muttered. Samuel was the boss, but she was still just an employee.

"Don't forget I'm here!" he said with a slightly prideful smile.

Evelyn suddenly remembered Samuel had been calling Nasir directly about things related to her. It was obvious to anyone about their relationship.

"Did you make our relationship public?" she asked nervously.

"No," he said casually. Then, seeing her expression, he held her hand. "Nasir might know. I didn't tell him, but he definitely understands you're mine. It's not a bad thing. When you need something, it's easier with people and resources available. If anything, just tell Nasir."

Evelyn pursed her lips, staying silent.

"I know you want to be independent, but you haven't relied on me at all! For example, in this competition, even if the company recommended you because of me, you still won first place on your own. I didn't manipulate anything. It's all your ability!" Samuel kissed her hand, looking serious.

Amused, she said, "I'm not blaming you!"

"Good. You know we can't hide this forever, so..." he slowed the car and looked at her with deep affection. "When will you give me the title of husband?"

Her heart was touched. With his status, he could've made things public without consulting her. However, he always respected her wishes.

She held his hand while smiling. "Soon!"

When she was stronger in the future, she'd have the confidence to stand by his side and announce that he was hers.
