Chapter 31 Blocked

"Why do you want me to copy? Can't we print it? Or pay someone else to copy!" Vivian said discontentedly and pouted.

She turned around to hug his arm and said gently, "I'm really tired recently, and my mental state is not very good. You know Evelyn has been targeting me lately, so I have a lot of pressure!"

Vivian's voice was already gentle. And because she was shaking Liam's arm, Liam's heart softened instantly.

Reaching out to embrace her shoulders, Liam held her and comforted her softly, "You also work in this profession, so you should know that notes are mostly handwritten. Do you use a computer to record data when you do experiments? Even if you can use a computer to compile data, that's only the final step.

"Letting someone else copy? Who can you trust? What if the judge requires an examination of the notes? Do you think I haven't considered these things? Do you think I really don't feel sorry for you?

"Fool! We can't lose in this matter. If we lose, Liavian Perfumes is finished! So, hold on!"

Liam lowered his head and kissed Vivian's forehead.

Even so, Vivian was still angry.

She angrily said, "It's all Evelyn's fault. If she hadn't schemed against us, we would have won the award. The company's financing sponsorship would have been successful. Everything should have gone smoothly. It's all her fault!"

Vivian threw the notes on the table while saying this, as if those notes were Evelyn. She vented her anger in this way.

Although Liam agreed with Vivian's words and also felt angry, he believed that their most important task was to prepare everything and finalize the facts before Evelyn. Even if she had the support of the Seraphian Group, it wouldn't matter.

Liam continued to comfort Vivian for a while. Reluctant as Vivian was, she still went to transcribe the notes.

Seeing Vivian's emotions stabilize, Liam took out his phone and walked to the side. After dialing a number, he said, "Is everything arranged? Good. I've looked over the draft. It's fine. Send it. Right away! Immediately!"

After giving a few more instructions, Liam hung. He stood before the expansive floor-to-ceiling window, squinting as he gazed down at the city below.

This marked the 36th floor. Liam had chosen this level due to his fondness for the number, hoping it would bring him good fortune.

Until a few days ago, Liam had held onto that belief.

Initially, entrepreneurship posed some challenges, but they swiftly overcame them. Evelyn's works gained traction, each publication increasing in popularity. The sales of Liavian Perfumes' products steadily climbed as well.

Originally, Liam planned to secure sponsorship and expand production scale after winning the award this time. After multiplying his assets, he would rent the entire building. After the product was launched, he would buy this building. Finally, he would lead his company to go international...

Liam had an ambitious dream, but he never expected to be hindered halfway while realizing his dream.

Evelyn had always obediently followed Liam's orders and even refused to take a salary. She also didn't question his operations. But recently, Evelyn suddenly seemed different.

Even if Evelyn discovered his affair with Vivian, Liam believed she might still turn to him, seeking answers or solace. He imagined her coming to him, perhaps tearful, asking him to choose. Liam could continue supporting Evelyn indefinitely.

As a successful man, Liam felt entitled to engage in affairs with multiple women. Throughout history, affluent and powerful men maintained numerous mistresses.

Liam only had affairs with two women, so he couldn't understand why Evelyn was angry.

Liam exhaled, causing the glass window to fog up. He could barely see the city.

Suddenly, Liam raised his hand and forcefully wiped off the fog above. He was already standing so high, so he swore he would never fall down.

Liam wouldn't and didn't want to go back to those days in the past! No! Never!

Evelyn had anticipated that Cathy would be cold towards her, but she hadn't expected to find Cathy completely unavailable.

Cathy's office door remained closed, with her assistant refusing Evelyn entry. As Cathy was in a meeting and Evelyn hadn't formally commenced work, she couldn't go in.

Despite waiting outside for over half an hour, Cathy's meeting showed no signs of concluding.

After waiting outside for over half an hour, Cathy still hadn't finished the meeting. Evelyn pushed the door open and barged in.

Cathy's assistant hadn't expected Evelyn to barge in, so she didn't have time to stop her and followed her in. "Ms. White, she..."

"Who let you in?" Cathy looked up and arrogantly said, "We're in a meeting. Non-relevant people should leave!"

"I have completed the onboarding process, so I am now working in the project department. As a member of the project department, I have the right to participate in the meeting," Evelyn said and sat down on the nearest empty chair.

"So what?" Cathy glared at her. "You completed the onboarding process, but I haven't accepted you. As long as I don't approve of you, you'll never be a member of the project department."

The atmosphere became tense. No one else, spoke and they quietly watched Cathy and Evelyn.

Everyone was aware of Evelyn's situation and Cathy's discontent with her. However, the boss remained adamant about keeping Evelyn on board. The situation intrigued them.

Why would the boss choose someone without talent and qualifications who was also controversial over his competent subordinates? The only possibility was that this person had a sexual relationship with the boss.

Other employees didn't know if Evelyn had talent, but they believed she was good at seducing men. Otherwise, their boss wouldn't trust Evelyn so much.

"Ms. White, what do you want me to do for you to accept me? I'm willing to take any test," Evelyn said, spreading her hands.

Just as Jack had said, Cathy had a bad temper and was frank, but she was capable and kind. Since Evelyn would be working with Cathy in the future, she had to resolve the conflicts between them. Otherwise, Evelyn would never be able to get along peacefully with Cathy.

Actually, Evelyn didn't dislike Cathy. At the very least, Cathy was frank and directly expressed her true feelings. Cathy wouldn't pretend to be friendly with others on the surface but hurt them behind their backs.

Compared to Liam and Vivian's despicable behavior, Evelyn preferred "bad people" like Cathy who showed it on the surface.

Cathy sneered and looked down on Evelyn. Obviously, she didn't believe in Evelyn's abilities at all.

"It's easy to say. Are you really sure you're willing to take any test?" Cathy finally laughed, but it was a mocking laugh.

Evelyn nodded without hesitation. "I have no regrets about what I said. If I pass the test, will Ms. White be willing to work with me and let me join the project department?"

"Okay, but failing the test means you must leave Neogenito Fragrances immediately and submit your voluntary resignation to Mr. Carter," Cathy stated firmly. No one dared to speak.

Evelyn nodded without hesitation. "Deal!"
