Chapter 59 His Unusual Gaze Towards You
Although it was a new product, it was still the same formula with some minor adjustments in the proportions. Therefore, Evelyn felt it lacked originality and was quite disappointed.
Initially, she had thought there would be unexpected surprises. As expected, such things rely on luck.
"If it were that easy to find surprises and make discoveries, wouldn't everyone be an advanced perfumer?" Samuel grabbed Evelyn and pulled her into his embrace. "Have you eaten yet?"
"I've eaten already," Evelyn answered, seeing the look in Samuel's eyes. She quickly explained, "I didn't go into the kitchen. I got off work early today and grabbed something outside."
"You didn't wait for me?" Samuel squinted his eyes, his tone sounding somewhat resentful.
"I... I was just hungry at the time." Even though it was a small matter, why did Evelyn feel so guilty as if she had committed a grave mistake?
Evelyn glanced at Samuel. "You haven't eaten yet? How about I order takeout for you?"
"I don't want takeout. Come out and eat with me!"
"But I've already eaten!"
Samuel smiled triumphantly. "Then accompany me!"
Evelyn couldn't resist Samuel's persistence and ended up being dragged out to have a meal together.
Before coming out, Evelyn had thought, 'Since I've already eaten, I'll just watch him eat.'
But after coming out—hmm, it smelled so good!
This was already the third dish of steak, but Evelyn couldn't stop herself. It was just too delicious.
While watching her eat heartily, Samuel sipped his wine gracefully and elegantly. In comparison, he seemed like the one who had already eaten.
"Would you like more?" Samuel considerately asked.
"No... I'm good!" Evelyn waved her hand, took a deep breath, and said, "I can't eat anymore. If I eat more, I'll burst!'"
"That's not cruel enough, let's try some hawthorn cake to relieve the bloating," Samuel raised an eyebrow and asked "friendly".
"What did I do to offend you? You could just tell me, why use such a cruel method to suffocate me?"
Evelyn touched her belly, which was already round and bloated. She had really eaten too much today.
"It's like I said, you accompanied me to eat. But some people can't control their mouths, so who should be blamed? Me?" Samuel put down his fork and said meaningfully.
Evelyn was speechless.
True, she couldn't control her mouth, but if Samuel hadn't dragged her to this newly opened restaurant and if the smell of the food hadn't been so tempting, how could she have resisted the temptation and eaten so much?
"Of course, it's your fault!" Evelyn said confidently.
"Oh." Samuel nodded, thought for a moment, and then said, "Speaking of which, someone will go on a business trip without telling me. Should I also blame myself?"
"Blame..." Evelyn choked and looked at Samuel with wide eyes. "How did you know?"
As soon as the words left her mouth, Evelyn felt that she had asked a stupid question. How could Samuel not know?
Evelyn thought to herself, 'Ah, it's not good to work in the same company as my husband, especially when he is the big boss. He knows everything I do immediately.'
Evelyn sighed and then said, feeling wronged, "Since you know, you should understand that this is the company's arrangement. I'm just an employee, of course I have to comply with the arrangement."
"Why do I feel like you're a little resentful? If you don't want to go..."
Samuel hadn't finished his sentence when Evelyn quickly interrupted, "Who said I don't want to go? I just didn't have a chance to tell you, not that I didn't want to."
"It gets cold in Tedia in the morning and evening, remember to bring a coat," Samuel reminded, and then stopped talking.
Evelyn was actually surprised. She thought Samuel would have a different opinion, but it turned out to be so smooth.
But it made sense too. Since it's the company's arrangement, Samuel must have known about it earlier. Evelyn had been worried that Samuel would disagree—she was so naive!
Samuel didn't have any extra reaction to Evelyn going on a business trip, which relieved Evelyn. With such a good beginning, it would be easier for her to do things in the future.
After all, her job required occasional travel, collecting materials, seeking inspiration, and attending networking events outside to learn from others' experiences.
If Samuel were to forbid even simple business trips, it would make it even harder for her to engage in other activities. However, Samuel didn't limit her freedom, which significantly boosted Evelyn's positive opinion of him.
…
"I don't agree!" Liam stared ahead, strongly refusing.
Clutching her, Vivian frowned and coquettishly said, "Liam, don't be like this! I know you don't want me to go, but this is a great opportunity. Think about it, how long has it been since I attended this kind of tasting event? Moreover, Mr. Rosen is going with us this time. It's even more—"
"It's because of him that I am even more against it," Liam interrupted her. "In any case, you are not allowed to go this time."
"If I don't go, then who will? Will you go? What about the essential oil? What about the formula? What about the company? Besides me, who else is more suitable to go? Or, do you have someone new? You want to support the new person and not me?" she immediately threw a tantrum. "Who is it? Is it that girl Amy from the company? I've noticed that you look at her differently!"
Liam furrowed his brows deeply and reprimanded, "What nonsense are you talking about? Besides you, who else could it be? I don't know any other girls you're talking about."
"If it's not like that, then why won't you let me go?" Vivian pouted, shaking Liam's arm. "Liam, I want to go! And it's not just for myself, this time I am representing Liavian Perfumes. If we can open up the Tedia market, not only will it be convenient for supply, but it will also broaden our sales channels. Besides, the company is in need of talent. Maybe I can find talent for you this time?"
Vivian tilted her head and looked at Liam, fluttering her big eyes and showing a cute and soft expression that made Liam's heart soften.
Vivian had a keen understanding of Liam. She was well-versed in his preferences, causing him to instinctively adopt a gentler demeanor in her presence. "Vivian, it's not that I'm opposed to your plans. If I were available to join you, we'd go together. However, at the moment, my schedule doesn't permit it, and I'm concerned about you going alone."
"Who said I'm going alone? Didn't I say I'm going with Mr. Rosen? He was also invited, and he's a VIP. There must be benefits to following him!" Vivian said happily.
"It's because of him that I am even more against it!" Liam's voice suddenly became louder, and he said angrily, "Vivian, don't you think his gaze towards you is different?"
Vivian was speechless.
She paused briefly before asserting, "Oh, come on, that's not accurate! I didn't sense anything amiss about him! Moreover, he was introduced by your mother, and he's a skilled perfumer. How could he possibly be as you suspect? Not everyone regards me as highly as you do! You're overanalyzing."
