Chapter 60 I Might Be Pregnant
Liam smiled helplessly. "You know I cherish you like a treasure, so please don't be willful. In any case, I don't like the way he looks at you."
Upon hearing these jealous words, every woman would be delighted. Vivian narrowed her eyes and then nestled into Liam's arms. "Are you jealous? It's been a long time since I've seen you get angry because of another man. I'm really happy!
"Well then, I think I should go meet Mr. Rosen," Vivian jokingly said.
"You dare!" Liam opened his arms and embraced her neck, then angrily said, "If you dare to run away with him, I will break your legs, do you believe me?!"
"So violent!" Vivian stuck out her tongue. She seemed to have remembered something and shyly said, "Actually, you can rest assured. Even if Mr. Rosen has intentions towards me, nothing will happen between us, especially… not now."
"What do you mean?" Liam didn't understand.
Vivian looked affectionately at him, took his hand, and gently placed it on her lower abdomen, pressing lightly. "I might… be pregnant."
"Pregnant..."
At first, Liam didn't understand what she meant. When he regained his senses, the force in his hand involuntarily increased a bit, accompanied by his excited voice. "You're pregnant? You are pregnant?! Is it a child? Is it mine?!"
Liam's ecstatic appearance was like that of a child. Vivian playfully punched him. "Of course! If it's not yours, whose could it be?!"
"Yes, yes, yes! I'm going to be a dad, I have a son!" Liam was extremely happy. His palm kept rubbing Vivian's lower abdomen, as if he could touch the child.
"Don't touch randomly. I just said it's possible, it's not certain yet."
"Not certain?"
Vivian nodded. "Hmm. It has been half a month since my period, and recently I've been feeling a bit nauseous, so I bought a test strip to check. I might be pregnant."
"Pregnant is pregnant, not pregnant is not pregnant. What do you mean by 'might'?" For a man, this was difficult to understand. "Didn't you go to the hospital to check?"
"It's still early," Vivian said gently. "I've heard it might be too soon to head to the hospital. They may not be able to find anything yet. The test strip showed two lines, though not very clear. Still, I believe it should be positive. I'll schedule a check-up at the hospital in a few more days."
Liam nodded repeatedly. "Okay, okay! You're right. Also, you shouldn't be running around everywhere these days."
He changed the topic and circled back to this issue.
Vivian immediately became unhappy. She left Liam's embrace and pouted. "No! This is my chance! If I'm really pregnant, I won't be able to enjoy all these activities for at least a year or two. If I don't seize the moment now, I'll regret it later."
Facing her coquetry, Liam felt a bit powerless, especially considering she was pregnant. He didn't want to argue with her anymore.
"But..."
"Enough already. I've already done this, can't you accommodate me this once? From now on, I'll listen to you, okay?" Vivian coaxed Liam gently. They had been together for so long, and Vivian had long known what Liam's weaknesses were.
When Liam was still with Evelyn, Vivian already knew his personality well. It didn't take long before Vivian and Liam were together. Liam couldn't live without Vivian and always listened to her.
As expected, Liam surrendered as soon as Vivian started acting cute. "Fine, fine, fine, I promise you. But you have to promise that you won't get too close to Rosen. I'll have someone go with you."
"Don't you trust me?!" Initially, Vivian was quite happy, but upon hearing the rest of his words, she instantly became angry.
"It's not that I don't trust you. I'm protecting you. In case he has any intentions towards you, or if you encounter any danger outside, at least there will be someone to help you, right?"
Vivian twisted her waist. "You just don't trust me, no matter what!"
"It's not like that, if you want to go, then go, it's settled."
Liam no longer gave Vivian a chance to act cute or argue—this was his final bottom line.
In truth, Liam also wanted to go. He had heard that numerous professional perfumers would be present at the event, and he not only wished to take part but also intended to scout for talent to bring back with him.
Evelyn's incident caused him a lot of trouble, and he became especially aware of the importance of talent. He needed to find more talented individuals so that the company wouldn't be affected whenever someone went on strike. That would be too dreadful!
However, the essential oils were problematic at the moment. After all the trouble they had gone through, they couldn't afford any more problems. Liam had to personally oversee everything, so he couldn't leave.
Liam thought it would be good for Vivian to go and experience it. Maybe she could help him more in the future. Although Vivian's qualifications were not as good as Evelyn's, at least she was loyal to Liam. Now that she was carrying Liam's child, he felt even more at ease.
As Liam thought about the child, his gaze drifted to Vivian's belly. Though still flat, it was already nurturing a new life. Liam couldn't help but feel a surge of happiness.
In contrast to Liam's joyful mood, Vivian was not as happy. She thought to herself, 'I'm going out to have fun, so why is someone trailing behind me? And what will Mr. Rosen think?
'Oh well, I can't reason with Liam now, I'll figure something out after I go.'
…
On the day Evelyn went on a business trip, Samuel didn't accompany her. Considering the fear of being seen, she insisted on taking a taxi with her luggage and even refused to let the driver at home drive her.
Before leaving, Evelyn embraced Samuel warmly, seeking to comfort him. With a touch of self-conscious humor, she remarked, "Parting is for better reunions. I will be back soon, so don't fall in love with another woman!"
"You too." Samuel embraced Evelyn and, as revenge, gave her a squeeze on the waist.
'Tsk, this man, he really is!' Evelyn thought to herself.
She got in the car and headed to the airport.
Samuel stood in place, watching her car gradually move away.
Kyle, who had been silent like a statue, took two steps forward. "Mr. Whitman, do you really not want to tell Mrs. Whitman? Are you going too?"
"Do you think it would still be fun that way?" Samuel tilted his head and lazily asked Kyle.
Kyle said, "Uh..."
Fun? When did Samuel become so fond of fun?
"Did the seating get upgraded?" Samuel turned around and walked back, asking as he went.
"It did, along with Ms. White's. As per your instructions, I told them it's an important trip arranged by the company." Kyle said dutifully.
To make it seem reasonable, he even found Nasir to handle this matter.
"Hmm." Samuel grunted lightly, walking back into the empty and cold house.
