Chapter 118 Was There A Problem With The Formula

Vivian thought that it was just a matter of arranging a time for the surgery, but she didn't expect the doctor to prescribe some medication for her.

Holding the prescription, she was puzzled. "Didn't you say no medical abortion? Why prescribe medication?"

"You have inflammation and need treatment before the surgery," the doctor paused and said cryptically, "Also, you really can't have sexual activity recently. Your condition is not good, and if you continue like this, it will affect your uterus."

Vivian couldn't quite remember what the doctor said afterward, just some reminders of how to take care of herself.

She knew that she couldn't handle the kind of excitement Rosen indulged in; her body wouldn't cope, but the consequences turned out to be more severe than she imagined.

No wonder there had been a persistent sensation of both pain and itchiness down below recently, coupled with a perpetual damp, unclean feeling. She thought she had overdone it and just needed some rest, but the inflammation was already quite serious.

Recalling the doctor's gaze, she felt a bit ashamed, but fortunately, not many people knew her well.

Taking the medications home, after boiling water and taking them, she carefully placed the medications deep inside her bag before lying down to rest.

Luckily, Liam had been quite busy lately and had been ignoring her a lot; otherwise, she wouldn't have had the time to meet Rosen.

Rosen...

Thinking of him, Vivian felt a sharp pain in her lower abdomen.

Turning uncomfortably in bed, she thought this was not good. If she could hand Evelyn over to Rosen, she would be relieved. But how could she sneakily get Evelyn to Rosen's bed without anyone noticing it was her doing?

Unable to sleep, she heard some movement outside, and Liam was probably coming back.

Afraid he would notice something was off, Vivian quickly closed her eyes, pretending to be asleep.

The bedroom door opened, and Liam walked in, sitting down slowly beside her bed.

Even with her eyes closed, Vivian could feel him pulling the blanket up for her, covering her, then letting out a soft sigh.

"Vivian, Vivian..." Liam softly called her name, hesitated after calling twice, as if unsure.

She pretended not to hear, ignoring him.

But he didn't give up, pausing for a moment before continuing. "Vivian, Vivian, are you asleep?"

His voice was gentle but persistent, showing he wouldn't stop until he woke her up.

Unable to continue the charade, Vivian pretended to be awakened by the noise, rubbing her eyes and yawning. "Hmm, you're back?"

"Yeah." Leaning down, Liam hugged her and kissed her cheek. "Did I wake you up? You must be tired."

"It's okay. I've slept for a while." Shaking her head, Vivian opened her eyes and noticed he didn't look too good, appearing tired and irritable. "What's wrong? You don't seem very happy."

With a forced smile, Liam asked, "Vivian, do we need to adjust the formula for the perfume you gave before?"

He asked cautiously, probably afraid she might get upset but also clearly unwilling to let it go unasked.

"The formula?" Frowning, Vivian was puzzled. "What's wrong with the formula? Wasn't it fine before? Didn't you say there was no problem?"

"It was supposed to be fine, and the samples were mostly successful, but in the final testing phase, it failed. The final product's effect was really subpar, and such a product wouldn't fare well in competitions."

Since this matter would eventually come to light, it was better to be straightforward.

"The effect was subpar? How is that possible? Do you know the formula? I get it from..."

With those words almost out of her mouth, Vivian abruptly stopped, realizing something and halting.

But Liam stared at her. "What?"

"From... from a long time ago, I've been thinking about it, making many adjustments. I feel the formula should be fine!"

Although she expressed it confidently, Vivian herself wasn't entirely sure.

After all, Rosen gave her the formula, and his status and abilities made her instinctively trust him. She believed that what he provided must be good and flawless. However, now that the lab was facing difficulties, Vivian also began to hesitate.

Regardless of her doubts, this matter must be kept secret from Liam. If she had to pretend the formula was fine, she had to appear confident.

"I believe the formula should be fine, but after many attempts and tests, maybe... "

The words stopped at his lips, as Liam couldn't find the right words.

Liam had forbidden Vivian from going to the lab a few days ago, and now he wanted her to go and see for herself.

Faced with Vivian, Liam found himself unable to articulate, exhibiting an inconsistent demeanor.

"Do you want me to go to the lab?" Having been together for so long, Vivian understood his implying even if he didn't say it.

Liam felt a bit embarrassed, sighed, and shook his head. "Forget it! There are so many people in the lab; I don't believe there is no one who can come up with a solution. I was just asking. If you're sure the formula is fine, then let's continue trying. We'll succeed eventually!"

"Liam, you don't need to act tough in front of me!"

Taking his hand, Vivian gently said, "As you said, we are now at a crucial stage, and logically, I should be in the lab to supervise. Since I wrote the formula, I understand it the best. I should personally oversee its progress, watching it become the final product step by step. Actually, even if you didn't say it, I wanted to go see it."

"But your health... with so many chemicals in the lab, it's better if you don't go."

Liam thought it over and still felt uneasy.

Recently, for the sake of the child, Vivian had pushed Liam away many times, claiming the fetus was not stable and needed proper care for its development. He had endured it, refraining from touching her, at most just kissing her.

Liam was ready to become a father and didn't want any unnecessary accidents.

"I'm fine. I can wear a mask!" Gesturing, Vivian half-jokingly said, "Or better yet, you can prepare a few gas masks for me!"

"That can be arranged!" Liam nodded seriously, showing his approval.

Vivian giggled and lay back on the bed. "Silly! I was kidding with you! Don't worry, I'll only go for a short while. I'll figure out what went wrong, and besides, I don't believe our child is so fragile, lacking any resilience."

"But..."

Liam was still a bit worried but couldn't resist her stubbornness.

"If you still have some 'buts,' I'll get angry!"

"...Fine!" Liam reluctantly agreed. "But you couldn't force yourself. If you feel uncomfortable or tired, leave immediately."
