Chapter 24 You Want to Use Force?
Liam's concern and worried expression slowly faded away. His gaze became more sinister as he stared at the woman in front of him and cunningly said, "Are you threatening me?"
"I just want what I deserve." Evelyn's request was simple.
She was not greedy, but she wouldn't give away what belonged to her anymore.
"Hehe..." Liam casually tugged at his tie, feeling suffocated. He unbuttoned another button, then crossed his arms and cast a cold gaze at her, saying,"What do you think you deserve? These past few years, you've been spending my money. Even your rent was paid by me! Is that what you think you deserve?"
Looking at the familiar yet unfamiliar face in front of her, Evelyn suddenly found it ridiculous.
This man could actually be so shameless, and he could even put on a righteous appearance. Evelyn was almost amused by it.
She wasn't angry at Liam, but at herself.
Evelyn thought, 'How blind I was these past few years! Why did I fall in love with such a man and give everything for him? Why didn't I see through his true face in the beginning?'
Thinking that she realized her mistake, Liam continued to accuse her, "Don't think that you're impressive just because you made a few perfumes. Who provided the materials? Who rented the lab? Without my support, who do you think you are?"
Evelyn slowly lifted her head and said, "So, you admit that most of the perfumes before Liavian Perfumes were formulated and developed by me?"
"So what if it's true? Without a company running, without marketing and advertising, do you think those perfumes would sell easily?" he arrogantly said, sounding very righteous. It seemed like he had a point.
However, despite the various loopholes in his words, Evelyn didn't argue. She just calmly smiled and said, "As long as you admit it. Now that it has come to this, there's no need to argue anymore."
After saying that, Evelyn turned around and intended to leave. Her goal had been achieved, and there was no need to entangle with him any further.
But Liam wouldn't let her go so easily. "Wait!"
He quickly caught up to her and reached out to grab her, but only managed to snag a corner of her clothing. As he tugged, something fell out of her pocket.
Liam froze for a moment, instinctively moving to retrieve it. However, to his surprise, Evelyn was quicker. She had already picked it up and held it in her hand.
"You actually recorded it?!" Liam couldn't believe it as he looked at her. He never thought that the seemingly foolish and obedient Evelyn would do something like this.
"Give it to me!" he said sternly, wanting to snatch the recording device away from her.
Evelyn wouldn't let him snatch it, so she stepped back two steps after clutching the recorder tightly. "If you haven't done anything wrong, why are you afraid?"
Liam looked at her, realizing that he didn't grab anything with his outstretched hand. Instead of trying to snatch it again, he smiled and said, "Childish! Do you think this recording can change anything? I can easily say that you edited it or that it was planned to make me say those things. Besides, do you think I wasn't prepared?"
"Alright, then let's see each other in court!" Evelyn nodded and just turned around when someone blocked her way from behind.
She looked back again and saw Liam standing still, leisurely taking out a cigarette from his suit pocket and slowly lighting it before taking a drag. The reason he remained so calm must be that he was prepared not to let her leave.
Evelyn raised an eyebrow and asked, "Are you trying to force me?"
"I didn't intend to use any extreme methods on you. After all, we've been together for so many years, right?" Holding the cigarette, Liam tilted his head and scratched his scalp with his pinky finger, slowly approaching her. "But...
"I've said all the good things to you and emphasized their significance. Nevertheless, you persist in being stubborn and disobedient. In that case, I must help you calm down first. We can resume our discussion once you've sorted things out!
After speaking, Liam lifted his chin, cast a glance at the two bodyguards, and then turned around. The situation was simple enough that it didn't require him to personally intervene.
A gust of wind swept behind him, accompanied by the muffled sounds of fists and limbs colliding.
Liam frowned, about to turn around and tell them to keep the noise down. He thought, 'Do two bodyguards need to create such a loud noise to deal with one woman?'
But as soon as he slightly turned his body, he froze in place.
A sudden gust of cold wind brushed against Liam's cheek. Simultaneously, a sharp dagger was pressed against his neck. The blade gleamed with a chilling light, its coldness unmistakable, a clear sign of its razor-sharp edge.
Cold sweat ran down Liam's face, and his teeth trembled. "What are you doing?"
"Then I'll have to ask you what you're planning to do first," Evelyn said coldly.
At this moment, she showed no trace of weakness, appearing stern and strict.
"How could you..." Liam hesitated, growing more confused.
In recent days, he felt as though he had been trapped in a surreal nightmare. The woman hehad shared his life with for three years, someone he thought he knew inside and out after five years together, seemed increasingly distant, like a stranger.
He even began to suspect whether this Evelyn was truly the person he'd known. Was she simply a stranger with the same name? Did he mistake her for someone else?
"How could I become a boxer?" Evelyn directly voiced his doubts and then coldly smiled. "It's all because of you."
Liam didn't understand what she meant, but the chill on his neck was not fake. But he didn't have time to think about this question now. "Don't be impulsive! This thing is not fun. Put it down first."
"Liam, my request is simple. Give me back what belongs to me. Then, we'll be even!"
Looking at his shocked expression, Evelyn felt a wave of disdain.
"Okay, I promise you."
Just as he finished speaking, the pressure on his neck suddenly eased. When he looked again, all he could see was a figure that was already far away.
And the two bodyguards were lying on the ground groaning. They couldn't even fight against Evelyn.
"Damn it!" Liam muttered under his breath.
He not only felt impatient but also increasingly uneasy. His original plan was to coax Evelyn back, deeming it the simplest and most effective approach. However, he hadn't anticipated her newfound strength of will. The situation had grown more complicated.
…
After walking outside on the road, Evelyn shook her wrist. She planned to flag down a taxi and go home first.
She hadn't practiced boxing for a long time, so she was rusty. Earlier, when facing those two bodyguards, she actually felt sore in her hand. It seemed that she had given up a lot for Liam in these years.
But starting from today, Evelyn wanted to find back the person she used to be!
Looking around, she prepared to hail a taxi, but a car parked nearby suddenly flashed its headlights, momentarily blinding her with its bright lights.
Evelyn raised one hand to shield her eyes, squinting until she could make out the shape of the car. Instantly, she felt relief wash over her. He was there!
