Chapter 18 Moving in with Me

"It really isn't necessary. Laura, listen to me. You've been busy for so long, so take a good rest now. After these few days, you won't be able to rest anymore," Evelyn joked.

Sensing Evelyn's persistence, Laura stopped trying to persuade her. "Alright. You know my two phone numbers. The one for work is already turned off. If there's anything, just call the other one."

"Okay. I hope you have fun!"

After hanging up the phone, Evelyn saw Samuel looking at her affectionately. She looked down and didn't notice anything wrong.

"What's wrong?"

"Did you ask her to leave because you didn't want her to get involved?" he directly voiced Evelyn's thoughts.

Evelyn was stunned for a moment and smiled, "Not entirely.”

"Laura has always been my assistant." Evelyn continued, "One could say she's familiar with all of my achievements. This time, Liam is determined to push the responsibility onto me.”

"If they start digging into the past, they'll undoubtedly turn to Laura for information. If it does come to that, Laura is still working for them, whether she likes it or not. She cannot, and should not, stay silent.

"So it's actually better that she's not here."

While talking, she didn't delay her meal.

There's a reason why expensive things come with a high price tag. The dishes in this restaurant were very delicate, and the taste was first-class.

Evelyn seemed to have not eaten such fine cuisine in a long time. She didn't care that Samuel was sitting in front of her, eating heartily.

Samuel smiled lightly, just looking at her as if he could be full just by watching her eat.

"It seems like you're already very confident."

Originally, he was still a little worried. After listening to her explanation, he realized that she wasn't impulsive—she had indeed thought it through carefully.

Evelyn's fork stopped. She looked at him and said, "There's one more thing, I hope you can agree."

"What is it?"

He seemed full, put down his fork, and picked up a towel to gently wipe the corners of his mouth.

"I want to bring Laura to Neogenito Fragrances with me." She paused for a moment, then explained, "I have a purpose. But Laura is indeed very capable. And I'm already used to partnering with her. I promise, if we go to Neogenito Fragrances, I will definitely deliver results. Otherwise, I'll..."

She even raised her hand as if swearing an oath.

"What will you do?" he interrupted her.

"Six months. Within six months, I will definitely be able to develop a best-selling fragrance that brings huge profits to the company," she confidently guaranteed.

Samuel smiled and said, "I remember 'First Love' was developed by you in just three months. Why do you need half a year at my company?"

Slowly retracting her hand, Evelyn hesitated and said, "Actually..."

"What?"

"Actually, 'First Love' has flaws."

"Really?"

"A good perfume, from initial inspiration to practical implementation and repeated adjustments, takes time. Three months is really too rushed. But I had no choice." Evelyn shrugged and continued, "Liam has a lot of things to do. He has to finish before this new product competition, so..."

And so she completed it hastily.

"Otherwise, it wouldn't be possible to change the base tone just by changing a few ingredients." She gestured with her thumb and forefinger, her tone slightly mischievous.

In Samuel's eyes, Evelyn was adorable and lively. Her expression was imprinted in his eyes and remained in his heart.

Emotions filled Samuel's eyes, and he suddenly stood up. Before Evelyn could react, he was already wiping the corner of her lips with a towel in his hand.

"There is a bit of oil stain." His expression was plain, as if it was just an ordinary thing.

But Evelyn's face immediately flushed.

His movements were extremely gentle, the soft towel wiping her lips, and his gaze was focused and serious.

Evelyn vaguely felt that the towel still carried his body temperature.

"I'm full." She lowered her head, her face slightly red.

"Then let's go. Let's go back and rest. You're tired too. We can talk about other things tomorrow." Samuel seemed to know what she was going to ask. "I'll have Kyle prepare for what you said. Don't worry!"

Evelyn not only felt reassured but also at ease. 'It feels great when someone understands what you're thinking before you even say it and takes care of everything for you.'

As they sat in the car, Samuel suddenly asked Evelyn, "Are you renting the house you're currently living in?"

"Yes."

"You can terminate the lease and move in with me." Samuel gently held her hand.

Evelyn's heart pounded fiercely. She tightened her fingers and lowered her head, lost in thought.

He wasn't urging her impatiently, but patiently held her hand, looking straight ahead as if waiting for her answer.

In fact, Evelyn knew this day would come. She just didn't expect it to come so soon.

However, they were already legally married and had slept together. Moving in together as a married couple was completely reasonable.

Evelyn nodded and said, "Okay!"

"Should I help you move now?"

He was a man of action, making decisions and immediately putting them into action.

The car soon arrived downstairs in the community. Evelyn didn't let Samuel go up and instead went back to the room alone, quickly packing what she needed.

She only packed some clothes, leaving behind bedding and such. She put all her personal documents in a bag and then called the landlord to terminate the lease. After that, she looked around to see if there was anything she missed.

In that moment, Evelyn came to the stark realization that she had been alone for quite some time.

She had believed they were embarking on a joint venture, toiling side by side. Yet, it became apparent that this endeavor was solely her own.

Evelyn stood at the door of the room and took a deep look, bidding farewell to the past completely.

She thought, 'Goodbye, past!'

Samuel was surprised when he saw she only had one bag. "Is this all your stuff?"

"All my important things are here. I don't need anything else."

Luckily, Liam wasn't there, saving her the trouble of talking to him.

But he rarely came anyway.

On the way, Evelyn remained silent, and Samuel followed suit. He simply held her hand, gently stroking the back of it with his thumb.

The car drove into Emberwood Residence, the most expensive villa area in the city.

This area was renowned for its affluence, boasting detached villas adorned with exquisite gardens. The meticulous layout, crafted by top architects, further enhanced its appeal. Residing there signified not only wealth but also status.

Evelyn wasn't surprised that Samuel lived there.

But what she didn't expect was that there were no service staff in the huge villa. Everything was fully automated with high-tech home systems. It was really convenient.

After confirming that there was no one else in the house, she asked in surprise, "Do you live alone?"

Samuel put the key in her palm and said, "There will be two of us from now on."
