Chapter 151 Mansion With Garden
"Are you serious?"
It was not that Cathy doubted Evelyn's abilities; it was just that the current scent was too overpowering, like a gust of stinky air rushing through the nostrils straight to the back of the head.
The initial scent had already become so intense that it was hard to say what the middle and later scents would be like—it was hard to put into words.
But it was clear that Evelyn was in a bad mood now, and Cathy didn't want to suppress her, so she said, "Well, since it's already done, let's pack up and go back quickly. It's getting late."
"I'll take her back," Laura said to Cathy.
As usual, they took a taxi. However, as soon as Evelyn and Laura got in the car, the driver reflexively looked back. "Ladies, you've sprayed quite a lot of perfume!"
Laura smiled awkwardly. As a perfumer, it was normal to have some strange scents on her. Perfumers were not always fragrant on them. After all, the aromas of spices were complex, and various refining processes were involved.
Evelyn and Laura had already become accustomed to the different looks they might receive in public, but a scent as strong and unique as today's was indeed rare.
Even Laura, who had become accustomed to being immersed in a pile of spices for a long time, felt uncomfortable smelling them, let alone the people who were not accustomed to different spices.
Evelyn obviously had something on her mind. She didn't say anything and just looked out the window as soon as she got in the car, lost in thought.
The driver was quite talkative. He couldn't stop talking from the beginning. While driving, he casually opened the window and asked, "Would you mind opening the window for some fresh air?"
Laura awkwardly shook her head. The night breeze coming in was a bit better.
"What brand of perfume are you ladies wearing? The scent is really strong," the driver asked as he drove.
"An obscure brand." Laura chuckled.
The driver seemed to understand, "No wonder it's so intense! Let me tell you, perfume doesn't have to be particularly strong to be fragrant. Sometimes, when it's subtle, it's especially enticing. It's like you can smell it, but you can't. I've met a woman before; I didn't notice anything when she got in, but as she was about to get off, I suddenly felt that my car was filled with fragrance; even after she left, it was still fragrant everywhere."
"Although I don't know what brand of perfume that was, I think it must be a major brand."
"Why do you think it must be a major brand?" Evelyn, who had been silent all along, suddenly spoke up.
Laura was surprised, and even the driver turned his head slightly to glance at Evelyn. "It's obvious! Only famous brands of perfume have such long-lasting scents, and I think that scent is an internationally renowned one!"
"I was thinking of saving up to buy one for my wife, but I don't know what it is," the driver added.
Evelyn said nothing more. When she got out of the car, she looked at the driver and said slowly, "The best perfumes are not only from internationally renowned brands!"
The driver was puzzled.
Evelyn got out of the car and closed the door.
Blinking, the driver probably was busy, so he didn't argue with Evelyn and drove off.
"Why argue with him?" Laura sighed.
"It's not an argument. It's just reality. However, the perfume industry in our country has developed rapidly in recent years. The number of perfumers has been increasing year by year, but most people still have a fixed mindset and think that good perfumes, especially big-brand perfumes, are all from foreign brands. They don't recognize those from our country," Evelyn lamented.
Laura shrugged. "Indeed! But to some extent, it's also a fact. The overall level of perfumes in our country now really can't compare to international big brands."
"Maybe not now, but it will in the future!" This was also Evelyn's direction and goal.
One day, Evelyn would make the perfumes she created to reach the world stage so that everyone in the world could see that Vistalia could also produce top-notch perfumes.
"Evelyn, you're here. I'll head back first," Laura said, about to turn around.
"Wait!" Holding onto Laura, Evelyn said, "Since we're already here, come in and have a seat. Last time, I got drunk. Today, I can entertain you."
"No, it's late." Laura declined. "I'm afraid it's too late to catch a taxi."
Holding onto Laura's arm, Evelyn smiled, "Don't worry! I can have Kyle drive you back later."
When Evelyn mentioned Kyle, Laura blushed. "It's too much trouble to ask Kyle for help all the time."
"No, just have Samuel increase Kyle's overtime pay," Evelyn said, leading Laura into the community. This time, she brought her access card, swiped it, and they could enter it directly.
This was Laura's second visit to Emberwood Residence. The last time she came was in Samuel's car, following Evelyn in; she was nervous and worried and didn't pay much attention. Now, walking in, she realized that the reason why it was a mansion was not just because of its high price.
Not only was the house large and luxuriously decorated, but it was also reflected in the details.
The spacing between each villa was large, ensuring sufficient sunlight range and giving residents their private space. The green area of the entire community accounted for more than sixty percent, making the whole community a private park. The night view was already beautiful, and it would be even more stunning during the day.
After roughly admiring the beauty of the community with Evelyn, Laura entered the house that had once surprised Evelyn.
"Make yourself at home." Evelyn changed her shoes at the entrance. "What would you like to drink?"
"I'm fine with anything." Although it wasn't her first visit, and this time it was just Evelyn and Laura, in such a large and luxurious house, it was inevitable for Laura to feel a bit cramped, no matter how she sat.
Sitting down next to the sofa and looking around, Evelyn brought over two glasses of juice. Laura took them and voiced her question. "Is it just you and Samuel living in this house? No servants or anything?"
Laura remembered that there were usually many servants from novels or TV-not necessarily in overwhelming numbers but a discernible presence.
"Samuel likes peace, and so do I. Servants come to clean and tidy up the lawn and garden regularly, and there are also servants for housework. We feel that this way, we have more privacy." Evelyn's views on this matter were in line with Samuel's.
"The thoughts of the wealthy are indeed hard for ordinary people to understand," As they relaxed and chatted, Laura leaned back, "If it were me, I would hire around a hundred servants to clean, bake bread, do laundry, massage, and chat with me every day. It would be so blissful!"
Evelyn couldn't help but laugh. "Around a hundred strangers in the house every day? Are you sure you wouldn't be scared?"
