Chapter 27 Holding back the urge to vomit on him

Faced with such doubts, Nasir became gloomy. "Ms. White, watch your language."

"There's nothing wrong with my language; each word reflects my true thoughts. I don't know her background, but I absolutely refuse to allow a plagiarist onto my team!"

Cathy turned and left the office.

"Cathy! Cathy! Ah..." The HR manager failed to stop Cathy from leaving and sighed awkwardly. "Mr. Carter, Cathy is just that straightforward, but she is doing it for the good of the company. Please don't be mad at her."

"If I get mad at her, can she still be the project manager?"

Shaking her head, Nasir turned and looked at Evelyn. "Don't take her words to heart too much. You'll understand her better as you spend more time with her. Though she has a bad temper and speaks harshly, she is kind. I think you two will work well together in the future."

'Work well together?' Evelyn was doubtful.

But Evelyn nodded. "I understand Ms. White's and the others' doubts about me. Mr. Carter, I also appreciate the opportunity you've given me. I won't let you down."

Nasir was satisfied with her response.

Nasir seemed to remember something. "By the way, there hasn't been a final decision on the results of the recent new product competition. Liavian Perfumes is still after you. What do you think?"

In other words, Nasir wanted Evelyn to resolve this matter.

Evelyn understood his meaning and immediately answered, "Mr. Carter, don't worry. I will definitely resolve this matter as soon as possible. I believe the best evidence is my ability."

"Good luck!" Nasir said, patting her arm. "But Neogenito Fragrances won't get involved in this matter, and signing with our company won't have any impact on it. Do you understand?"

"Yes!"

Evelyn understood. If Neogenito Fragrances didn't intervene in this matter, it would still be a personal issue between her and Liavian Perfumes and Liam. Once someone from Neogenito Fragrances took a stance, people might speculate that it's the Seraphian Group's stance.

In fact, Evelyn wasn't avoiding defending herself. On the contrary, she was just waiting for an opportunity.

After returning to the company, Laura went straight to the CEO's office.

No one stopped her because Liam had asked her to return. She went directly to the door. As she was about to knock, she heard voices speaking inside.

"Organize these files and make a copy to give to the lawyer. Also, don't forget to blur the videos online. Spread the rumors online as soon as possible. Don't leave any traces behind."

The person speaking was clearly Liam.

Laura furrowed her brow and thought, 'Files? Are they the ones taken from the lab before?'

Laura had been worried about those files because they were the most important evidence proving that Evelyn had worked hard with her. But Liam had taken them all. Now, Liam wanted to use those files to smear Evelyn.

Most importantly, Evelyn didn't seem concerned about those files, but Laura was extremely worried.

Laura believed she had to warn Evelyn!

After taking out her phone, Laura tried to send a message. But just as she had typed a few words, someone tapped her shoulder from behind. "Why aren't you going in?"

"Ah? I just arrived too," Laura replied in haste.

The noise outside had obviously startled the people inside. Liam asked, "What's going on?"

The secretary pushed open the door and stuck her head in. "Mr. Scott, Laura is here."

Liam nodded. "Let her come in."

Laura forced a smile, tucked her phone away, and entered the room. She planned to hear Liam's side of the story before looping Evelyn in.

"Mr. Scott," Laura said hesitantly, taking a position to the side and waiting for him to address her.

Frankly, Laura disliked Liam.

They'd been lab partners with Evelyn for quite some time. Most days, the lab was their second home.

Laura prided herself on her work ethic; she'd been a dedicated student. Yet, working alongside Evelyn redefined diligence.

Laura had admittedly fallen asleep at her post on several occasions, only to wake and find Evelyn meticulously recording data or analyzing results. Laura couldn't help but admire her.

Most importantly, Evelyn worked hard but didn't care about fame and fortune. She gave up all the honors for Liam. But Liam, the jerk, now wanted to crush the woman who had worked so hard for him.

Laura showed her courtesy by not spitting on him.

"Laura, you're back from your vacation? Did you have a good time?"

Liam's greeting was too insincere, so Laura forced herself to smile. "My vacation hasn't ended yet. I was forced to cut it short. You wanted me to come back as soon as possible. According to the original plan, I still had half a day of vacation left."

Liam frowned after Laura's sarcastic remark but politely said, "Indeed. Thank you! Things escalated quickly, and I needed your assistance. Once everything calms down, I'll compensate you with triple the vacation time."

"Really?" Laura raised an eyebrow and seemed not to believe Liam. "You will really give me triple the vacation time?"

"Absolutely! Rest assured! But don't forget, the precondition is that you have to help me with something," Liam said politely.

Vivian scoffed, sprawled on the chaise longue beside the desk. She crossed her long legs and swung them idly, the luxurious chair swaying gently in rhythm.

Ignoring Vivian, Laura kept looking at Liam. As a result, Liam's words directly amused Laura.

"Mr. Scott, don't joke. I know you are my boss. How can I help you?" Laura sarcastically said.

Liam pressed on, oblivious to her sarcasm or perhaps misunderstanding it altogether. "No, you can help me! You can definitely help me! Only you can help me."

"Mr. Scott, are you implying..."

"Testify for me."

"Testify?"

Liam nodded forcefully. "Yes! You have devoted yourself to the perfumes sold by Liavian Perfumes in recent years. I know you've done a good job. After this is over, I will promote you."

"Thank you, Mr. Scott," Laura said but didn't believe Liam. Laura quickly asked again, "You didn't mention what testimony you want me to give?"

"I need you to testify that Vivian is the true creator of Liavian Perfumes' fragrances. You'll also claim that you two formulated and developed the company's best-selling products over the years.

Laura cursed Liam inwardly and pretended to be confused as she asked, "What about Evelyn?"
