Chapter 105 Who Will Took Responsibility

Liam's reaction was quite quick, and he knew how to turn the tables.

The announcement from Liavian Perfumes actually boosted their company's favorability quite a bit.

Although some doubted whether their actions were just for show, whether the formula was genuine or an altered version, and whether Liavian Perfumes' actions indicated a bigger move ahead. Opinions were varied. However, it inadvertently brought them a wave of popularity.

"What's Liavian Perfumes up to? What are they trying to do? By openly revealing their formula in the industry, are they unintentionally digging their own grave? Are they planning to abandon their previous products?" Cathy pondered, resting her chin on her hand.

Her words reminded Evelyn that Liavian Perfumes' actions could indeed salvage their image to some extent. Still, it indicated a willingness to abandon their previous products at the same time. Of course, this decision was probably coerced out of them, but could they come up with replacement products in the short term?

Evelyn and Cathy exchanged glances, both silent, each lost in their thoughts.

A knock on the office door interrupted them. Cathy's secretary entered. "Cathy, there's a Laura outside who says she has an appointment with you."

"Laura?" Cathy furrowed her brow, momentarily unable to recall.

"Yes, I asked her to come," Evelyn turned and said, "Let her in."

"Wasn't she supposed to go back and rest? You know it's not possible for her to start working here now..." Cathy said, puzzled.

"She can't officially start yet, but Liavian Perfumes will soon revoke that non-compete agreement. We're at a critical stage now, so I thought it's best to have Laura come over and help out. I also hope that our new product can be released as soon as possible."

Initially, Evelyn had intended to let Laura go back and rest properly, but after thinking it over last night, she realized that further adjustments were needed in the formula. She was a bit overwhelmed handling it all by herself.

This was her first project after leaving Liavian Perfumes, and she wanted to avoid any mishap. She wasn't very familiar with other colleagues, and it's always easier to work with old friends than new colleagues.

After some consideration, she decided to call Laura to come over.

"Cathy, Evelyn." Laura greeted them as she entered the room. She hadn't quite figured out the details yet, as Evelyn had only informed her over the phone to report to the company today.

"I hope you can continue to help out in the lab. You don't need to worry about Liavian Perfumes; Liam will revoke that agreement," Evelyn affirmed.

"Really?" Laura's eyes lit up with surprise.

Cathy was skeptical. "Will he? But we received the official letter just yesterday. How could you have resolved the issue overnight?"

As she spoke, her gaze fell on the computer screen, and a sudden realization hit her, "Could it be that the formula post from last night was..."

"Evelyn, you shouldn't have done this for me. If they accuse you of leaking trade secrets, then you..." The incident was such explosive news in the industry that Laura couldn't possibly be unaware. She had already guessed that only one person could have done it and could do so.

But this matter was really a big deal!

If Liavian Perfumes chose not to make a fuss about it, then it would be fine. But if they decided to pursue the matter and accuse Evelyn of leaking trade secrets... with Liam's meticulous nature, how could he not pursue it?

"Don't worry, I dare to do this because I've thought of a countermeasure!" Evelyn reassured her, gently patting her hand. "In any case, Liavian Perfumes won't use this against you anymore, so you can rest assured and come over."

Her confident gaze was not just for show; it was filled with genuine assurance.

"Evelyn, did you make some deal with that despicable Liam for my sake? What did you promise him?" Laura suspected that Evelyn must have reached some deal or compromise to handle this thing. Otherwise, how could Liam be so accommodating?

Her concerns mirrored Cathy's worries. "Yeah, what did you do? Evelyn, don't do anything foolish! You have a bright future ahead; don't act recklessly."

Seeing how concerned they were, Evelyn couldn't help but smile, "Look at you, thinking I'm about to do something extraordinary. It's not as serious as you think. It's a kind of deal, but I'm definitely not the one who compromised. So, rest assured about that!"

"Really?" They asked.

Both of them were very doubtful, afraid that Evelyn was just trying to comfort them by telling lies.

"Of course, it's true. Anyway, Liavian Perfumes will definitely withdraw that agreement in the next couple of days." Evelyn then patted her on the shoulder. "So, you won't be able to rest for a while; you'll have to help me out!"

"Absolutely!" A weight lifted off Laura's heart, and she nodded in agreement.

The atmosphere at the Liavian Perfumes shareholders' meeting was as heavy as thick clouds pressing down, making it hard to breathe.

Liam toyed with his tie knot, considering giving it a tug, but upon a second thought, he just adjusted it slightly.

"Mr. Scott, aren't you going to explain the perfume formula leak to the board?" one of the major shareholders spoke up first, his voice cold and accusatory.

Liam had already anticipated this and was prepared to respond calmly. "I believe all of you shareholders have seen the released official statement by Liavian Perfumes. The online sentiment is currently in favor of Liavian Perfumes, and the response has been positive. In this matter, the benefits outweigh the drawbacks, and I don't think I need to explain much further."

With his hands spread out, Liam appeared calm, showing no hint of guilt or fear.

"The leakage of the formula will result in direct economic losses. Do you know How many competitors can now replicate our company's products? Have you considered the market impact in the future? Do the benefits truly outweigh the drawbacks? I ask you, who will take responsibility for these losses, and who will bear the consequences!"

Shareholders were profit-driven, and once it was clear that there would be financial losses, they woouldn't just sit by.

Facing the accusations, Liam leaned forward, clasping his hands on the table, and smiled faintly, "Please, don't be hasty. Let me explain all these economic losses to you."

"In fact, the perfume formulas leaked yesterday are all very mature products from Liavian Perfumes that have been on the market for a long time. They have indeed had good sales; consumers like them, and the market response has been positive. However... let's not forget that these are old products that have lost their novelty!"
