Chapter 209 I've Already Given Him Enough Face

"Why not just put your little company under Evelyn's name? The name doesn't really matter, right?" A clear male voice chimed in as he sat down next to Evelyn. He turned to her and said softly, "Sorry, I'm a bit late;Ihad some stuff to deal with."

Even though Samuel had said he was always ready to help, he showed up without any heads-up.

"Who are you, and why are you eavesdropping..." Liam frowned, trying to shoo the guy away. But when he got a good look at Samuel, his expression changed instantly. "You're Mr. Whitman..."

Being in the same industry, Liam knew of Samuel even if he didn't have direct access to him. He'd seen him from a distance at some events.

Liam's status wasn't high enough to chat with Samuel. He'd thought about getting an introduction, but the gap between them was huge. When it came to business, the Seraphian Group probably looked down on his small-time Liavian Perfumes.

Liam never expected to see Samuel here, and now Samuel was sitting right across from him, leaning back in Evelyn's chair like they were close.

Liam was stunned.

"You got feelings for my wife?" Samuel asked Liam calmly.

"You... I..." Liam stammered, struggling to process the shock.

What did Mr. Whitman just say? His wife? Was he talking about Evelyn? Evelyn was his wife?

Wasn't it Kyle who was supposed to be helping Evelyn? Liam was totally confused and at a loss for words. He started trembling uncontrollably.

"I caught a bit of your conversation, and you seem pretty confident in your business. By the way, I heard your company has two new products doing well. Your company's performance is impressive, right?" Samuel said casually, his expression calm like he had no hidden agenda.

"Not bad," Liam chuckled awkwardly, his mind racing to figure out how to handle the situation. Why was Samuel here now? Was he here for Evelyn?

Samuel switched topics, "But I heard both of your new perfumes are under Vivian's name, right?"

Liam quickly replied, "Yes, but that's..."

Samuel cut him off, "It doesn't matter who the original creator is; consumers care about the perfume itself, right?" He paused, then continued, "But if the designer is involved in kidnapping and suspected of harboring drug users, I wonder if the public will still tolerate it. However, one thing is certain: your company's two perfumes won't qualify for the annual competition. That's a real shame!"

Though Samuel's words sounded regretful, there was no sympathy in his tone, almost like he was gloating.

Evelyn looked at Samuel in shock, surprised by the information he just dropped.

Vivian was behind a kidnapping and harbored drug users?

How could Evelyn not know about this? If she didn't, then Liam was even more clueless.

Liam only knew that Vivian had gone to France with Rosen, but he had no idea what happened after that. Vivian stopped contacting him, and he didn't really care.

Vivian's actions had nothing to do with Liam, but both of the new products were under her name. Back then, they hadn't fallen out yet, and Liam thought Vivian's connection with Rosen might help in the annual competition. He never expected to hear this kind of news.

Liam was shocked. "What did you say? Vivian's behind a kidnapping? That's impossible!"

Even though Liam and Vivian had broken up, he still knew her well enough. Vivian was scheming, capricious, and vain, but she'd never do something as extreme as kidnapping, let alone harboring drug users.

"If you have time, pay more attention to international news and understand the industry overview. Don't focus on the wrong things," Samuel mocked. "Whether you believe it or not, it's none of my concern. I'm just giving you a heads-up out of goodwill."

"Shall we go?" Samuel said to Evelyn.

He turned his head, his gaze fixed on Evelyn.

With Samuel's words, Evelyn had no reason to stay any longer. His presence was more effective than any explanation or refusal. From the look on Liam's face, he was clearly dumbfounded.

"Alright," Evelyn nodded, standing up.

Samuel picked up a coat and draped it over Evelyn's shoulders, completely ignoring the stunned Liam. After taking a few steps, Samuel seemed to remember something, turned back, and said, "Oh, by the way, make sure to settle the bill. After all, there's got to be some sincerity in inviting someone to a meal, right?"

With that, Samuel left, arm in arm with Evelyn.

Initially, when Samuel paused, Evelyn thought he was going to do something, but she didn't expect him to say those words, almost bursting into laughter.

Evelyn held it in until they reached downstairs. Samuel glanced at her and said, "Laugh if you want to."

This made Evelyn double over with laughter.

"Does my presence make you this happy?" Samuel asked gently. "If I had known, I would have shown up earlier. Or maybe I should consider appearing in front of you more often."

Evelyn shook her head. "I thought you were going to settle the bill just now." After all, for someone like Samuel, this meal was nothing.

"He was the one inviting you for a meal, so why should I pay? Since I didn't order extra dishes or another bottle of wine, I've already given him quite a bit of dignity," Samuel mocked.

Samuel was right, but just the thought of Liam's expression while settling the bill made it impossible for Evelyn to hold back her laughter. Ultimately, Samuel proved to be the more astute one.

"By the way, what's the deal with Vivian? You said it had nothing to do with you, right?" Evelyn looked at Samuel with a knowing expression.
