Chapter 57 So Arrogant
"Oh?" Rosen raised an eyebrow, not quite believing.
"As you know, even a slight difference in ingredients and their quantities can produce different results in perfume making. Evelyn not only added something to the formula but also had her assistant secretly change it.
"And recently, I haven't been feeling well—just a bit under the weather—so they managed to deceive me. I'm truly sorry for the inconvenience, Mr. Rosen."
As Vivian spoke, her eyes lowered as if tears were imminent. She looked pitiful, and it truly stirred empathy.
Rosen looked at her face and lightly tapped his fingers on the table, lost in thought. It was unclear what he was thinking or whether he believed Vivian's words.
Liam snapped back to reality and quickly said, "That's right, Mr. Rosen! You don't know, but Vivian has been working so hard lately because of the company's affairs, which is why she fell ill. Evelyn took advantage of this opportunity to change the formula. The factory has a lot of orders lately, and if we can't deliver because of this, our company will be in big trouble!"
Rosen wiped his mouth and finally spoke, "Alright, let's go to the lab and take a look!"
Liam and Vivian both breathed a sigh of relief at his response. Now that Rosen had agreed, there was hope. They were afraid he might suddenly refuse to help.
Liam immediately settled the bill and drove Rosen straight to the lab.
For the past two days, the lab staff practically lived there. It wasn't due to incompetence, but because the formula proved too tricky. Even if they identified ingredient differences, precise quantities were crucial for consistent results.
The subtle differences in taste, which may go unnoticed by outsiders, were very important to those who used perfume regularly, especially the loyal customers. Once a mistake was made, it could ruin the brand.
Liavian Perfumes was not easy to make, and if something went wrong, it would be difficult to succeed again.
Rosen, Liam, and Vivian took turns visiting the laboratory, but unsurprisingly, there was no progress made.
However, when they entered the next laboratory, it was empty, with no one inside.
"Where is Laura?!" Vivian pointed at the laboratory and immediately recognized who should be there.
"Laura... she said she was too tired and went home to rest," another employee answered cautiously.
"What time is it?! She has time to go home and rest. Does she really not care about her work or the company?" Vivian scolded angrily.
Liam calmly said, "Don't be too upset. Since she is so irresponsible, it's meaningless to force her to stay. Let's just fire her. It's a minor issue. We'll talk about it later!"
After speaking, he turned to Rosen. "Mr. Rosen, in that case, we can use this laboratory. How about that?"
Rosen didn't answer but walked straight in, glanced around, and then asked, "Where are the essential oils?"
Liam quickly gestured at the assistant. "Quick, the essential oils!"
The assistant quickly brought the essential oils and placed them in front of Rosen.
He asked again, "And the formula?"
This time, the assistant quickly handed over the formula, along with some results that they had achieved.
Rosen's expression remained unchanged. He leaned closer and sniffed the scent of the essential oil, furrowing his eyebrows slightly. He then glanced at the formula and smiled. "Just a trick!"
Liam heard Rosen's voice, though it wasn't loud, and he asked excitedly, "So, Mr. Rosen, do you know how to adjust it?"
"Adjust? No, there's no need to adjust. Because... this is not the right formula at all." Rosen waved his hand, and as he did, the formula slipped out of his fingers and fell to the ground.
"Not the right formula?!"
Not only Liam, but everyone present was shocked.
"It's impossible! We have tried many times, and the taste is very similar, with only subtle differences. If it's not this formula, how can the taste be so close?" someone questioned.
Rosen was brought by Liam, but no one knew who he was, and his statement made everyone doubt him.
Rosen sneered. "I said it's not, so it's not!"
He didn't bother to explain, and he was so confident—even arrogant!
"Mr. Scott, it's impossible. We have been trying for so long with so many people. Although we haven't figured it out yet, this formula definitely only changed one ingredient. Let's try again, and we will quickly get results."
The two sides were saying completely different things, and Liam was also confused.
Did Rosen make a mistake?
"Hasn't it been long enough? Do we really need to try again for results? Trash is trash. No matter how much time you give, it won't change the fact that it's trash," Rosen taunted, dripping with sarcasm and arrogance.
His words successfully angered everyone, and they glared at him in anger. "What did you say?!"
"Ah," Liam interjected, "let's not be angry. The key now is to find the problem. Whether it's Mr. Rosen or any of you, whoever can replicate the essential oil blend exactly as before will be the hero of the company. I will definitely reward you greatly!"
Liam's words were both an attempt to mediate and also an implication to Rosen that he must achieve this in order to receive the appropriate reward.
"Mr. Scott, I think the few perfumes we have experimented with are already very close. Just give us a little more time, and they will definitely be like what they were before—"
Before he could finish his sentence, Rosen casually handed over a piece of paper that he had quickly written on while they were talking. "Use this new formula to blend."
Liam took it, feeling incredulous.
The other staff members around him also leaned in curiously, wanting to see who this confident person was!
However, they stared dumbfoundedly after taking a glance. "What kind of alphabet is this?"
"Piacion," Rosen put down his pen and clapped his hands as if it was only natural. "I'm used to writing in Piacion, and I'm not used to or capable of writing in your language. You can find a Piacion translator to translate it."
After speaking, he walked up to Liam. "Can we go back to the hotel now? I'm tired."
"Sure, but..." Liam held the paper, feeling doubtful. He had some understanding of Piacion and could somewhat understand it, but could this formula really work?
The people in the laboratory had been debugging for so long, and yet Rosen confidently claimed it could work without even trying.
Despite his doubts, Liam couldn't question the person he had brought in front of so many people. Thus, he folded the formula and put it in his pocket.
"Alright, if Mr. Rosen says there's no problem, then there must be no problem. You've all worked hard these past few days, go rest. Also, find me a professional Piacion translator as soon as possible!"
