Chapter 176 Let's Play a Game

Evelyn was sweating buckets as she dragged Nathan, Michael, and James together. These guys were strong, and this kind of work wasn't her thing.

Afterward, she went downstairs to check out the cabin. It was in a quiet suburban area with hardly anyone around. Even if they yelled for help, no one would hear.

She grabbed some bread and milk from the fridge. She had a few bites before checking on Olivia, who was sleeping soundly, unaware of any danger. Better to let her sleep than wake her up and cause a scene. Evelyn covered her with a blanket and went back upstairs.

When she turned on the light, the room lit up, making Nathan and Michael squint.

"Wake up!" she kicked one of them in the chest, then sat in front of them while nibbling on bread. "Who told you to close your eyes?"

Michael stayed quiet. The bright light made him squint; he couldn't help it.

"Who are you?" Nathan asked, eyeing her carefully.

He finally took her seriously. She looked gentle and beautiful, so he thought this job was simple. Kidnapping a lady with no ransom, killing, bodyguards, or weapons; only waiting for the employer. He initially didn't get why the employer was so nervous. They'd handled way more dangerous tasks before, but he underestimated her; she could really flip the script.

"Don't you know who I am?" she smirked. "If you don't know, why kidnap me?"

"We just followed orders. Who you are doesn't matter," Nathan replied.

"Then who's the employer?" she pressed.

He went silent. She figured he was the leader, so getting info from him wouldn't be easy.

She turned to Michael, who was still quiet. "You tell me!"

Michael's mouth twitched, but he stayed silent.

Seeing his anxious look, she suddenly remembered. "Oh right, you're mute now!"

She squatted in front of Michael. He looked scared and nervous, unsure of what she'd do. Evelyn smiled, touching his throat lightly. Suddenly, Michael felt his voice return.

"What are you doing?" he yelled before realizing he could speak again.

Stunned for a moment, he started again. "I can talk! I can talk again!"

He was so excited he forgot the situation, lost in the joy of regaining his voice. "Nathan, look, I can talk! I'm not mute anymore!"

"Shut up!" Nathan snapped, his face darkening.

Michael fell silent, finally realizing the situation. He tried to move but couldn't, as if he were tied up, even though there were no ropes.

Nathan, seeing Evelyn's moves, thought of the mysterious judo techniques he'd heard about. He always thought it was just a myth, but now he saw it firsthand. She could immobilize them, mute them, and easily subdue them.

She smiled at Nathan. "You know one of my secrets now, so shouldn't you tell me one of yours? Who's your employer, why did they want you to kidnap me, and what do they plan to do with me?"

Nathan stayed silent, his expression cold. On the other hand, Michael went silent after getting yelled at.

"You're being dishonest," Evelyn said, shaking her head. "Judging by your skills, you're not just ordinary street thugs."

"Of course!" Michael said, a bit proud.

"Then you must not be afraid of death?" she smiled.

Nathan snorted. "We'd be ashamed if you defeated us today. If you want to kill us, go ahead. Stop talking so much! We've been in this business long enough to know this day would come. We can't reveal our employer."

He didn't believe she'd actually kill them. She might know some judo, but if any of them fought back, they might not lose.

She finished her bread a sipped her milk a bit, patting her stomach. "Now that I'm full, we should find some entertainment to pass the time."

She looked at the men and smiled. "How about we play a game?"

"What game?" Michael asked.

Nathan nudged Michael, who then said, "Who wants to play games with you? If you want to kill us, just do it. Stop playing tricks!"

Before he could finish, he felt a sharp pain in his mouth. Michael howled in pain, realizing there was now a bloody hole in his lower lip. She had pierced it with her small dagger.
