Chapter 171 She Was Your Sister

Sophia didn't get what she wanted as Samuel finished his breakfast quickly. She had pictured them eating and chatting together, but he only took a sandwich and coffee, sat at his desk, and opened his computer.

From the moment he started eating, his eyes never left the screen.

She couldn't take it anymore. She put down her breakfast and walked over, saying, "Samuel, can't you see me?"

He glanced at her, then back at the computer. "What's wrong?"

"Do you hate me?" she pouted.

"No."

"Then why are you ignoring me?"

"I'm working."

"Lies! You don't want to talk to me. I don't believe you're so busy you can't even have breakfast with me!" She angrily turned his computer away.

Samuel finally looked up, frowning. "Stop messing around!"

He showed her the last bite of his sandwich, stuffing it in his mouth and saying, "Breakfast is over, so you should go back. Let me see if Kyle is here; I'll have him take you."

He reached for the phone on his desk.

Sophia quickly stopped him. "No! You don't have to ask Kyle every time. I don't want him!"

She rolled her eyes. "I want you!"

Samuel, clearly busy, nodded. "Ok, then I'll take you back."

"Are you just trying to get rid of me?!" she snapped. She rushed over the moment she got off the plane and woke up early to bring him breakfast, but he was still so indifferent.

Though Samuel hadn't said anything rude, his polite yet cold attitude was hard to bear.

"Sophia, I have a lot of work, and you have your own things to do. Grow up stop being a child," he said, sounding like an older brother.

"I'm not a child, so don't talk to me like one. I have a brother, so I don't need you to be one! Since you're disgusted with me, I'll leave! Don't regret it!" She turned and ran off.

Samuel watched her go, sighing and dialing a number on his phone.

The phone rang for a while before a lazy voice answered, "Samuel, what time is it? Can't you let me sleep?"

Samuel chuckled coldly. "What time is it? Sophia already brought breakfast to my house and followed me to the office."

"Wow, how diligent of her! Anyway, enjoy your breakfast!" The person seemed ready to hang up.

"She has left," Samuel said after a pause. "She's not in a good mood, and her car isn't here."

Henry was surprised. "Didn't she drive over to bring breakfast to you? Where's her car? Also, what do you mean she's not in a good mood? Didn't you go look for her?"

"I'm really busy and I need to go on a business trip," Samuel said shortly.

"What are you saying? You're too busy to care about Sophia now?" Henry shouted.

Samuel snorted, "She's your sister!"

After a pause, he added, "She's not a kid anymore, so don't let her keep coming to me. It's not good for her reputation. Isn't she filming? Why is she so free lately?"

Henry got the hint. "Are you rejecting her? You know how she feels about you, and my parents are okay with it. What's the problem? Do you have someone else?"

Samuel went silent. "Sophia is your sister, and she's my sister, too. I have to go on a business trip, so I'll talk to you later. You call and find her."

He hung up and quickly dialed another number. "Book me the earliest ticket to Francis."

For the first time, Samuel found work so tedious. The days without Evelyn were hard to bear.

The testing competition was in the afternoon, so there was still time to rest in the morning.

Evelyn wasn't worried. Instead of nervously reviewing or training, she decided to take a break.

Olivia, on the other hand, was much more nervous. She made calls all morning, contacted the company, and paced around Evelyn's room with occasional glances at Evelyn.

Evelyn knew Olivia thought she wasn't nervous at all. She found it amusing, watching her panic.

Later on, Cathy called Evelyn. "The competition is in the afternoon, right?"

"What do you want to say?" she glanced at Olivia, who was nervously watching her, and smiled.

"I know you're not nervous, but please pretend to be for Olivia's sake. She's very serious and has been nagging me." Cathy yawned, sounding helpless.

"But I really..." Evelyn looked at Olivia. She then sat up straight and said to Cathy, "Okay, I'm a little nervous, but I think I can handle it. Don't worry about the competition; I'll win for the company!"

As Evelyn said this, Olivia's tense expression relaxed, and her clenched fist loosened a bit.

Evelyn stifled a smile. "Thanks for comforting me. I feel better now, not so nervous."

"I bet Olivia is with you. She's careful but timid, so don't scare her," Cathy laughed.

"Got it," Evelyn replied.

Just as she hung up, Olivia approached to comfort her. "Ms. Taylor, don't be nervous. You're great, so just do your best. Winning would be great, but if you don't..."

She paused, maybe realizing it wasn't the right thing to say. "It's fine, just don't stress out too much. Take it easy!"

Olivia patted both sides of Evelyn's shoulders, trying to relieve her stress.

Evelyn thought, 'Olivia must've been waiting to comfort me. If I wasn't nervous, she wouldn't have the chance.'

Knowing Olivia was kind-hearted, Evelyn nodded. "Well, I'm much better now. Thank you."
