Chapter 68 Why Not Be Angry?
She was dressed in beautiful clothes and exquisite makeup, presenting herself in the best possible way, but she didn't dare to walk in alone.
In the grand venue filled with top brands, Liavian Perfumes seemed insignificant.
Being by Rosen's side would have surely boosted her image, but now she was on her own, and no one would give her a second glance.
The thought of being ignored and overlooked as soon as she arrived at the hotel entrance was unbearable.
She had been calling Rosen repeatedly since she got in the car, but he clearly had no intention of answering.
"Ms. Reed, we're running out of time," the driver reminded her.
"Don't rush me! I'm not ready!" she snapped in frustration.
Just as she was about to try calling Rosen again, she looked up and saw the Rolls-Royce she had been eyeing approaching.
With a quick thought, she tapped the front seat and said, "Hurry, follow them, but don't get too close!"
Since they were already across from the hotel, the driver turned the wheel and drove up the ramp.
Vivian got out of the car and closed the door while watching as Evelyn was getting out of her ride.
Evelyn was wearing a strapless black dress, her hair loosely pinned at the back of her head, exuding an air of elegance and grace. The dress accentuated her square shoulders and swan-like neck, making her look magnificent and refined.
Vivian quickly caught up and called out, "Evelyn!"
Evelyn and Cathy were posing for photos on the red carpet when they heard someone calling Evelyn's name and instinctively looked in that direction.
Vivian wore a deep red dress, the length of which only reached the top of her thighs, showcasing her long and slender legs. It was clear that she had put a lot of thought into her outfit.
Evelyn didn't really want to acknowledge her, but with so many people around, especially the reporters, she stood still and watched as Vivian ran towards her.
"Evelyn, so you're here for the event too. What a coincidence! It seems that your move to Neogenito Fragrances has paid off. They treat you well, don't they?" Vivian remarked, nonchalantly.
"Your job hopping isn't in vain," she said with a hidden meaning.
Evelyn sneered inwardly. She knew Vivian must have had an ulterior motive for approaching her, but her approach was really below the belt. She still harped on the same old things.
Did she really think she could trip her up with that and try to climb up by stepping on her like she did in the past?
Evelyn chuckled and nodded slightly.
"Yes! Neogenito Fragrances does treat me well. After all, it has great long-term prospects, and its vision and breadth of mind are extraordinary," Evelyn replied.
"As for job-hopping, Ms. Reed, you seem to have forgotten that I never signed with any company before, so what job-hopping are you talking about?" Evelyn remarked.
"Oh, right!" Before Vivian could speak, Evelyn continued with a snide remark, "You mean the few years I helped Liavian Perfumes. It was just a small matter, a few bottles of essential oil perfumes. We've been classmates for so many years, and I definitely won't hold it against you."
Then she implied Vivian's dress was indecent.
Vivian's face turned red with anger.
She was about to say something, but then she heard Evelyn's words and quickly looked down.
Her dress was already somewhat loose, and with the few steps she had just taken, the hemline was sliding down, almost revealing the edge of her bra.
Her face flushed. She quickly raised her hand and used her handbag to cover her chest, then walked quickly towards the venue.
After a quick tour of the venue and some greetings, Cathy introduced Evelyn to a few acquaintances, and she finally had a chance to catch her breath.
But even so, Evelyn felt exhausted.
The tasting event hadn't even officially started, and she was already feeling a bit overwhelmed.
In this world, socializing was more tiring than delving into products.
She found a quiet corner and held a small tray of assorted snacks, waiting for the event to begin so she could enjoy the new products from the masters and then leave.
Cathy was no stranger to such occasions, and she adeptly interacted with her familiar colleagues, but when she turned her head, she couldn't see Evelyn anymore.
After searching for a while, she finally found her in a corner, where she was enjoying the food.
Cathy couldn't help but feel a mix of amusement and exasperation.
"So, I brought you all the way here just to eat," she said, casually taking a glass of juice from a waiter's tray and handing it to Evelyn.
Cathy added, "Don't just eat; have a drink, too, so you don't get too thirsty."
"The food here is good; it would be a waste not to eat," Evelyn remarked as she took a sip of the juice and smiled. "Cathy, you should try it too."
"I'm not as greedy as you!" Cathy teased.
Maybe she had grown fond of Evelyn, but now Cathy felt a sense of camaraderie with her. She was genuine and unpretentious, with strength but not arrogance. This talented perfumer almost misunderstood her.
"That Ms. Reed just now, is she the Vivian who had a lawsuit with you at Liavian Perfumes?" Cathy asked as she sat down next to Evelyn.
Evelyn nodded and replied, "I thought you knew her."
"I should have met her, but I don't have much of an impression," Cathy said. She tilted her head and thought.
In fact, Neogenito Fragrances and Liavian Perfumes had participated in several competitions and events together, and she knew Liam. Vivian was always by Liam's side, and she had seen her many times, but she never left a deep impression.
Of course, what left a deeper impression were the works of Liavian Perfumes. She thought they were really amazing. It could be seen that the perfumer was also very talented, but she did not have that kind of admiration for Vivian. Could it be that Cathy had an intuition about it at the time?
"She stole your hard work, took credit for it, and even tried to smear your name. Aren't you angry at all?" Cathy asked, curious.
Thinking about how Vivian was trying to tarnish someone's reputation at the door just now, Cathy felt disgusted and annoyed.
How could she be so proud of herself for stealing someone else's achievements and distorting the truth?
"Of course, I'm very angry!" Evelyn, who had already finished a small piece of cake, looked at her and said seriously.
