Chapter 92 Were You Admitting It?

Evelyn sat up straight, looking at him with a smile, "Mr. Scott, if I remember correctly, you have always claimed publicly that all the perfumes and essential oil formulas of your company are from the hands of Ms. Reed. She wrote the formulas, so how could I have possibily tampered with them? Even if I had the intention, with Ms. Reed as the original author, it's fine. May I ask, what grudge do I have against you?"

She calmly countered him in his own words.

Liam guessed she would say these things, lowering his voice. "Evelyn, there's no one else here now. Don't talk like this. We both know in our hearts what the deal is with those formulas. Yes, I concede that I have taken advantage of you; I apologize for that. However, you almost brought me to the brink of bankruptcy and closure. Now that you have moved on to Neogenito Fragrances for a better opportunity, I won't hold onto you. In the future, let us refrain from interfering with each other and pursue our own paths. Is that acceptable?"

He felt this was his biggest concession.

The past grievances had now come to an end, as he chose not to investigate her actions, and she, in turn, should not to dwell on past matters. This should be the best outcome.

Evelyn remained silent, gazing at the person before her, feeling profoundly estranged.

He actually had the audacity to utter such shameless words, and it seemed completely natural to him. There was not a trace of shame in him, evidently portraying a sense of victimhood as if he was making a compromise. She was truly appalled when he said such things!

"So, you are admitting then, that the fragrances and essential oils from Liavian Perfumes were crafted by my hands?" She did not respond to his words, calmly inquiring.

"I..." Liam was about to speak when he heard someone behind him calling out Evelyn's name. "Evelyn, I'm back!"
He halted abruptly and then witnessed a person approaching Evelyn, bending down with a hand resting on her shoulder. "Caught you! Introduce me to your boyf—"
Turning with a smile, Cathy's expression froze instantaneously upon her face, gazing at Liam with a profound sense of astonishment. "You?" she uttered in surprise.
Well aware of who Liam was, she immediately realized that he was not Evelyn's current boyfriend but rather her legitimate ex-boyfriend upon seeing him.
Instantly, Cathy's beaming countenance transformed into one of disdain. "What brings you here?"
Liam was speechless. He was surprised by this woman's rapid change of demeanor, wondering if he had somehow offended her. Why did she look at him as if they had some score to settle?
Could it be because of Evelyn?
No way! How long had Evelyn been at Neogenito Fragrances? How could she have made friends so quickly? She should have friends!
"Hello, I'm Liam. And you are?" He felt a bit unfamiliar with Cathy.
Of course, Cathy didn't mind his lack of recognition, giving him a perfunctory smile before turning towards Evelyn. "Let me tell you, I have some juicy news to share."
"What?" though Cathy's arrival had interrupted her plan, Evelyn was happy to temporarily avoid Liam's clamor.
"I forgot!" with a moment of mental blankness, Cathy suddenly forgot what she wanted to share.
Initially, she had something to say. However, upon seeing a man sitting across from Evelyn, she suddenly perked up. She assumed he was Evelyn's boyfriend and they had planned a secret rendezvous, seizing the opportunity while she was in the restroom.
Expecting to catch him red-handed, she found it was all a misunderstanding. Failing to spot the real boyfriend, she forgot what she intended to say. Instantly, her bossy demeanor resurfaced, casting an unsympathetic glance at Liam. "It's all your fault!"
Liam was puzzled.
"Why aren't you with your girlfriend? Why harass Evelyn here? Evelyn is now part of our Neogenito Fragrances team, and individuals from Neogenito Fragrances are not easily pushed around. Mr. Scott, I advise you to be more responsible as a man. If you neglect your own household and constantly meddle in others', you will face consequences sooner or later."
Evelyn rarely witnessed Cathy speak in such a peculiar manner. Liam was left perplexed, unsure of how to respond.
"I remember what I wanted to tell you now." She launched into a tirade against Liam, who was taken aback, and suddenly recalled her initial intent.
Evelyn, intrigued, asked, "What is it?"
Cathy was about to speak when she suddenly felt something amiss and halted.
Turning to the side, she found Liam, who had been watching and listening intently, asking, "Mr. Scott, do you have any further business to attend to?"
"If not, would you kindly excuse yourself? We have matters to discuss."
Before Liam could respond, she continued, "If there are pressing matters, I would suggest we defer to another occasion, perhaps during an official meeting. After all, we are not affiliated with the same company; rather, we are competitors. It is inappropriate to probe into the trade secrets of other companies in this manner."
Liam was utterly speechless. When had he ever engaged in prying into another company's trade secrets?
Couldn't he catch up with an old friend in peace? Nonetheless, he had his pride. With Cathy's words, he couldn't just sit there shamelessly. There would be other opportunities to chat with Evelyn in the future!
"Since you ladies have private matters to discuss, I won't disturb you further. Evelyn, we'll chat another time." He bid farewell before standing up.
Evelyn was speechless. Just as he was about to leave, Liam suddenly remembered that Vivian hadn't come out yet and felt a tinge of worry as he headed toward the restroom. After just a few steps, he saw her coming out.
Although Vivian was walking a bit slowly, she looked much better than earlier when she seemed on the verge of vomiting, except for her very pale complexion, which indicated a lack of vitality.
"Vivian!" He called out to her, quickly approaching to support her. "Are you feeling very uncomfortable? You've been through a lot. Let's go back to the room and rest!"
He believed her discomfort was due to morning sickness, feeling a surge of sympathy.
Vivian didn't object, nodding in agreement as they walked out of the restaurant together.
"You can tell me now, right?" Returning her gaze, Evelyn spoke to Cathy.
While she had intended to speak, the presence of the two individuals had diverted her attention. It wasn't until they left that she shook her head meaningfully.
Cathy chuckled softly, taking a sip of her lemon water. "Guess what I saw in the restroom just now?"
Evelyn was speechless.

Poor Cathy, indeed! The usually serious and efficient Cathy, with a touch of dominance in her actions, now gossiping like any ordinary woman!
