Chapter 71 How Could It Be Him!

At this point, she had no other choice.

Under the watchful eyes of the crowd, Vivian forced herself to remember the process, constantly reassuring herself. Wasn't it simply about appraisal, exchanging a few words, and roughly analyzing the components and ingredients? Even if she misspoke, it wouldn't be anything serious. Nonetheless, even with that understanding, she couldn't escape the inevitable unease, trembling slightly while she reached for the test paper.

After a series of procedures, a faint lingering fragrance enveloped the tip of her nose. She endeavored to recollect, analyzing the components first, offering some general insights rather than maintaining total silence.

"Ms. Reed?"

This time, as soon as the host spoke, she quickly responded, "I personally like this perfume. I usually prefer a light and elegant fragrance, and this one truly captivates me. I don't know what kind of person the creator is. However, I imagine they must be as serene and detached as a poet."

"By the way, this type of perfume contains the delicate fragrance of chrysanthemums. I suppose it's made from the essential oil extracted from dried chrysanthemums?"

Despite her confident tone earlier, she now sounded unsure, her words tinged with a hint of uncertainty.

She wasn't entirely certain, but she couldn't remain silent. So, based on her experience, she began to improvise.

She just needed to get through this.

The host hesitated, and her heart skipped a beat. Was she wrong?

"I'm not sure about the ingredients either. However, based on Ms. Reed's description, it sounds wonderful! Why don't we invite the creator of this perfume to explain it in person and see how accurate Ms. Reed's remarks are?"

The somewhat relaxed mood that had settled within her was once again gripped tightly by his words.
All she could hope for was that she might have guessed correctly in part, or that the part where she praised the other party might elicit some mercy from them towards her.

Amid the applause, a man walked up from the audience, seemingly unperturbed. V

ivian didn't dare to look. She just stood there with a stiff smile and clapped her hands.

Her cheeks flushed, yet she endeavored to maintain composure, exuding an air of unruffled demeanor. She was determined to possess a sense of assurance, capable of standing tall and speaking with conviction, regardless of the words spoken by the other party.

"A warm welcome to the creator of the fragrance. Now, let's have Mr. Rosen personally introduce this perfume to us."

Vivian was shocked by what the host had said.

She turned her head and saw the familiar face. With a gentlemanly smile, he took the microphone from the host.

How could it be him?

Rosen held the microphone, his gaze shifting between Vivian and the audience.

"First and foremost, I express my heartfelt gratitude to the organizers for the invitation, and personally, I feel immensely honored. Despite growing up in France since childhood and being steeped in the essence of fragrant oils for many years, I have developed a profound fondness for Vistalia's culture and heritage," he conveyed in a rather fluent English accent. "The inspiration behind this fragrance also stems from a poet of Vistalia."

He paused, smiled, then turned to Vivian and said, "Yes, just as Ms. Reed mentioned, it was indeed that poet. I admire his attitude towards life, and I love that poem. It's great to have someone who understands me!"

He walked over, took Vivian's hand, and looked at her with his blue eyes. "Thank you, Ms. Reed!"

He raised her hand and gently kissed the back of it.

There was a wave of applause from the audience, and Vivian instinctively pulled her hand back.

To onlookers, Rosen just kissed the back of her hand, but only she could feel his tongue darting out to lightly lick her hand.

In a swift motion, so brief, he promptly withdrew and released her hand, almost too quickly for notice.

Yet, his lick carried a sensation akin to tiny thorns on a cat's tongue, pricking at the heart, leaving it in a state of unease, a tangled mess of emotions.

Vivian blushed, yet in the presence of so many onlookers, she remained speechless, bowing her head and offering a faint smile that gave the impression of bashfulness stemming from praise.

Evelyn, however, narrowed her eyes slightly, observing Vivian with a hint of amusement.

Only Evelyn, with a slight squint of her eyes, glanced playfully at Vivian.
Though at a distance that obscured her view of what exactly Rosen was up to, the expression on Vivian's face signaled something beyond mere praise-induced shyness. For someone who shamelessly claimed credit for others' achievements without a hint of embarrassment, eagerly anticipating praise and acclaim, how could she suddenly turn bashful and blush?

Interesting!

On the stage, the host continued to praise. "It seems that Mr. Rosen and Ms. Reed have a great connection. We are delighted about this! The purpose of this fragrance evaluation event is to show that not only are there many outstanding perfumers abroad, but we also have them domestically. We have every reason to believe that the perfume industry in our country will soon develop and grow, and we will see more and more talented individuals. We also hope that all of you here will have a bright future!"

"Let's go!" Evelyn nudged Cathy with her elbow.

"Don't you think there's something odd about Ms. Reed and Mr. Rosen?" Cathy tilted her head, observing them.

Evelyn instinctively looked up at the stage, only to see the two people standing apart, their gazes not meeting, seemingly nothing amiss.

However, had Cathy also discerned it?

"What's odd about them?" She said nonchalantly.

"Pretending to be strangers!" Cathy gestured with her chin. "Do you forget that when we met Rosen on the plane, they were together at the time. However, now, they seem not to recognize each other, even flattering each other."

Clicking her tongue twice, she sighed. "I really didn't expect that masters coming from abroad are so hypocritical."

Evelyn was speechless.

After a moment of contemplation, Cathy remarked, "However, who knows what kind of master he is. Nowadays, it's all too common for individuals to adopt titles merely for the sake of reputation. It's trivial, truly trivial!"
Rising to her feet, she had no intention of lingering any longer. "Let's go. Let's head back and rest. Tomorrow, we shall go on an excursion."

Taking another look at the two people, prompted by Cathy's words, she remembered that the foreign man was indeed the one who sat next to Vivian on the plane. It was that Liam didn't accompany her. Besides, both of them, who clearly knew each other, were pretending to be strangers. Was this a deliberate show to flatter Vivian, or...

As she walked out, she couldn't help but feel that something was off. So, she subconsciously looked upstairs.

Upstairs was empty, with nothing but a few tables.
