Chapter 76 A Person of Unkept Promises
After hanging up, Vivian refused to answer Liam's calls. She eventually grew tired of it and turned off her phone.
The situation made it impossible for her to sleep, so she got up and walked to the window.
It was a small square window that offered no grand view of the city, unlike the presidential suite. It felt like a frame, confining her entire life.
She could already see that her life was destined to be this way, forever.
Liam couldn't give her what she wanted. He was no longer reliable.
She realized that she had to rely on herself. Evelyn had once wholeheartedly trusted him, but he still betraryed her and spending all his time with Vivian.
Would he eventually find her old and unattractive and leave her for someone else? What would she be then?
The thought terrified her, and she felt a chill despite the closed window.
She wrapped herself with her arms, lifting her gaze to the ceiling with a determined bite on her lip.
After taking a shower, she meticulously applied her makeup, donning alluring and sensual lingerie, layering it with a coat before scrutinizing herself in the mirror. Thankfully, her figure remained exquisite enough, as she still exuded a captivating allure.
Having a bottle of red wine delivered, she grabbed it along with the room key, exiting the door and heading straight to the elevator.
She found Rosen's room easily. How could she possibly forget that dreamy room?
She had been unsure about Rosen's intentions and capabilities, but what happened tonight had put her at ease.
Specifically invited by the hoster, he was able to make her the center of attention or push her into an abyss with just a few words.
He had the power and ability to influence her future. She would be better off with him than with Liam.
Although he might not promise her marriage and love, he could help her become outstanding in this industry. The fame and fortune he could bring her would be beyond imagination.
At that time, she would be wealthy and powerful. She wouldn't long for love and marriage anymore. Instead, she could have her pick of any man she wanted.
Realizing this, she felt less conflicted and distressed.
She rang the doorbell, expecting a long wait, but the door opened quickly.
Rosen stood within the doorway, clad in an exceedingly loose-fitting robe with its belt carelessly undone which revealed his robust chest muscles. Beneath the robe, he wore only snug undergarments.
The desire in his eyes was so blunt, that prior to tonight, Vivian surely would have been unable to meet his gaze directly, managing only to evade his eyes. However, now that her decision had been made, there was no need for shyness anymore!
She raised the bottle of wine in her hand, her lips forming a confident smile. "Hi, Rosen, I've made up my mind!"
Curving his lips, Rosen smiled with utmost satisfaction.
She reached out and poked his chest, pushing him inside.
After bathing, Evelyn emerged to find Cathy already asleep, her breath deep and heavy, evidently exhausted.
Silently approaching, she gently adjusted the blanket for her before extinguishing the lights and cautiously exiting the bedroom.
This was a business suite, with an adjoining set of sofa, table and chairs. She tidied up the food wrappers piled on the table, yet at this moment, sleep eluded her.
The tasting event today proved quite rewarding, with several new releases that, while not vastly different, all resonated well with a unified theme. Interestingly, upon trying the samples provided by the host, Evelyn discovered that although Rosen's perfume contained hints of a chrysanthemum-like scent, those with a discerning nose could immediately tell the difference.
In fact, Rosen should have used a method to extract a chemical fragrance that was similar to chrysanthemums but not the same. The intention might have been to test the participants at the tasting. It was evident that he was a bit arrogant.
He thought no one could see through his methods, and those perfumers at the event couldn't compare to him. He was way too brash.
However, he didn't make things difficult for Vivian. Instead, he agreed with her and put her in the spotlight for praise. It was quite thought-provoking.
Her phone vibrated twice, and Evelyn picked it up to see a message from Samuel with only one sentence.
Samuel: [The wolf will eventually eat the shepherd child.]
Evelyn was at a loss for words.
She pondered for a moment before realizing that he was calling her a shepherd child. Because she had said she would come to see him but never did, this was deemed a lie, a lie akin to that of a shepherd child.
And he even conjured up the idea of her being eaten by a wolf! What an imagination!
When this man got sulky, it truly rendered her speechless. He couldn't communicate straightforwardly, always beating around the bush, expecting her to read his mind.
Nevertheless, such a Samuel was indeed quite adorable!
Glancing at the time, she found that it was quite late, but it was never too late for a rendezvous!
Carefully peering into the bedroom, Cathy was sound asleep, even turning over and mumbling a few words. Unable to contain her laughter, she retreated, picked up the garbage bag on the table, and quietly slipped out the door.
First, she went and threw away the garbage, then took the elevator upstairs. He was indeed on the upper floor. Taking advantage of the slightly dim light in the corridor, she found Room 1808 and was about to knock on the door when it opened from the inside.
Then, she was pulled in and pressed against the wall. Samuel closed the door with one hand, supported the wall with the other, and leaned in for a hot kiss.
It was so accurate and fierce that he didn't let go for a while, leaning against her, whispering, "Liar!"
"I kept my word. I've come to find you." She gasped, "Could you be any more childlike? The shepherd child? Why not mention Pinocchio's nose?"
Samuel chuckled softly, after a while he said, "Alright, next time it shall be so."
Evelyn, feeling helpless, lightly struck him with her fist, only to have it captured by him, placed near his lips, and kissed repeatedly. "I miss you."
Evelyn's heart instantly turned tender, sweet, as she lowered her head. "I miss you so much too!"
The distance gradually narrowed, the scale between their lips diminishing until they met. This time, it was so gentle, tenderly delicate yet incredibly cherished, as if she was the most precious treasure in the world, requiring the most intimate care.
