Chapter 174 Rosen Was Ruthless

After Olivia and Evelyn were locked up, Nathan made a call. "Yeah, she's here. When's the money coming?"

"Is she tied up properly?" Rosen asked anxiously.

"Of course. We always meet the client's needs," Nathan paused. "Even if she wasn't tied up, she couldn't escape."

"Don't be careless," Rosen insisted. He knew it'd be tough for Evelyn to escape from the thugs, but he wanted no mistakes.

Nathan shrugged. "When are you coming over?"

"I need two more days. In the meantime, give her some water, but not too much food," Rosen said. "And don't forget the injection."

Nathan was silent for a moment before chuckling. "Shouldn't you handle this yourself?"

"I'm busy. Just take care of the money, and you'll get your share," Rosen's voice was low. "If you give her the injection on time, I'll pay extra."

"Okay!" Nathan agreed and hung up, feeling pleased.

Nathan was just after the money. Interpol was watching them closely, and they needed cash fast. This deal was easy and would be done soon.

"Michael, go give them some water and see if they're awake," Nathan said.

Michael grumbled, "With that much sedative, even a giant wouldn't wake up, let alone two women."

"Just go. Stop whining!" Nathan snapped. Though reluctant, Michael took two bottles of water to check on them.

He opened Olivia's room first and saw her lying there, motionless.

"She's out cold!" Then, he checked Evelyn's room and found her lying peacefully. Feeling annoyed, he closed the door and said, "Nathan, when's he coming? This job is boring. Let's finish and get out."

"Relax! We've got the initial payment, so no rush. Are all the supplies ready?" Nathan asked, chewing on a piece of jerky.

Michael and James exchanged looks. Michael said, "Nathan, we don't mess with that stuff."

They were into murder, robbery, and kidnapping, but they avoided drugs to avoid extra risks.

"Who said you had to use it! Just get it in the syringe and inject her," Nathan said, glancing at Evelyn's room.

Michael sighed, "That guy's ruthless!"

With the heavy sedatives, the tying up, and now injecting Evelyn with drugs; Rosen must really hate her!

The plan wasn't to kill Evelyn outright but to break her spirit with drugs, making her completely collapse and be controlled—a torturous process. The thugs thought they were tough, but they'd never considered killing someone this way.

"Enough talking! James, you go later!" Nathan said to James, worried Michael might hesitate.

Michael turned to James, grinning. "James, you should do it now. When she wakes up, she'll beg for mercy. Don't chicken out. She's really beautiful!"

Nathan glared at Michael. "Don't get any ideas! If the buyer didn't ask for it, don't mess around!"

Michael grumbled, "I wasn't. Just saying it's a waste."

"Yeah, you're right," James suddenly spoke up.

Nathan and Michael looked at him, surprised.

After a moment, James prepared the drugs and syringe, placing them on a tray before standing up. "I'll go give her the injection."

"James," Nathan stopped him. "Don't overdo it. We don't want her dead before delivery."

James nodded and headed to Evelyn's room.

He opened the door and saw her lying on the bed, still asleep with her arms exposed.

He turned on the bedside lamp, staring at her a bit before putting the tray on the bedside table. He sat down beside her.

James reached out, gently sliding his hand up her leg. His Adam's apple bobbed as his gaze moved upward.

Just as he was about to touch a sensitive area, he froze. A sharp knife was pressed against his waist, piercing through his clothes.

Evelyn opened her eyes. The ropes binding her were untied.

"Who are you?" she asked coldly, sitting up.

James smirked but didn't answer. He suddenly lunged, aiming for her neck and ignoring her threat.

He didn't know how she had woken up and freed herself, but he thought he had the upper hand.

However, she dodged his grab, circling around him and now aiming the dagger to his throat.

His expression finally changed.

Even with his sunglasses on, his confidence crumbled. He couldn't believe it. After all his time in the underworld, Evelyn had easily subdued him.

If carelessness was the issue earlier, his counterattack should've been foolproof.

"Tell me!" Evelyn demanded coldly, the dagger stabbig into his skin.

"Who are you..." James swallowed hard. "Who are you really?"

Now, he understood why Rosen had insisted on extra sedatives and tight bindings for her.

However, it was too late.
