Chapter 122 Were You An Invisible Heir To Wealth?

Evelyn went to the restroom and passed by other private rooms on the way. Just as people were coming and going, in the split second of the door opening and closing, Evelyn caught sight of a familiar figure.

Although it was just a glance, Evelyn was certain she hadn't made a mistake.

She went straight to the restroom, washed her hands, and patiently dried them. When she came out, she saw a tall figure leaning against the opposite wall.

"I knew I was right." Folding his long legs, Nicholas straightened his body.

"Your judgment has never been wrong," Evelyn smiled, "Please move aside."

Nicholas deliberately took up half the path, blocking Evelyn's way. "What are you doing here?"

Evelyn chuckled. "I'm here for the same reason you are. How about this? Has this hotel also fallen under your business empire? Can't I come here?"

"You still refuse to return to the Jones family?" Nicholas frowned, dissatisfied with Evelyn's attitude.

"I will go back to the Jones family," Evelyn said, "Now is not the right time."

"Then when is the right time?" Nicholas asked. Seeing Evelyn not answering, he continued, "I heard about your case. It wasn't handled perfectly, but at least it didn't cause any trouble for the Jones family. Since you refuse to come back, you need to be cautious in your actions outside. The reputation of the Jones family is not something you can afford to lose."

"Don't worry, I have no connection with the Jones family!" Evelyn's eyes were cold; she walked past Nicholas and waved her hand as a farewell.

Nicholas stood for a few seconds. When he turned around, Evelyn was already out of sight.

Nicholas squinted, his gaze serious.

Cathy and Laura never expected that Evelyn would be the one to get drunk in the end.

After returning from the restroom, Evelyn started drinking. She ordered two cases of beer and two bottles of wine, and even wanted to order vodka but was stopped by Cathy and Laura.

In Evelyn's words, this was her first work at Neogenito Fragrances, which was ofspecial significance, and it was enjoyable to work with Cathy and Laura, so they had to have a few drinks.

A few drinks—then turned into a few bottles, then a dozen bottles.

In the end, there was a problem when it was time to send Evelyn home.

Cathy patted Evelyn's face. "Evelyn, where do you live?"

Even if they called a taxi, they would still need to tell the taxi driver the address.

Moreover, with Evelyn in her current state, just putting her in a taxi without a specific address was worrying. They had to make sure Evelyn got home safely.

Evelyn mumbled something, but Cathy couldn't hear clearly. Furrowing her brows, she glanced at Laura and then leaned in closer to Evelyn. "What did you say?"

"Emberwood Residence."

This time, Cathy heard clearly but couldn't believe it.

"What? Emberwood Residence?!" Cathy was astonished. "Do you know what Emberwood Residence is? Do you live in Emberwood Residence?! Don't scare me."

Cathy couldn't believe it, but Laura realized.

Laura pondered, 'That address was probably where Mr. Whitman lived. It was a luxurious villa area where only wealthy or powerful people lived, not something ordinary working-class people could afford. Even renting there, the price was unimaginable. No wonder Cathy was so surprised. She didn't know who Evelyn's new boyfriend was.'

Because Laura had promised Evelyn, afraid that Evelyn might say something else, she quickly supported Evelyn and said, "Cathy, I know where Evelyn lives. I'll take Evelyn home. It's late; you have to work tomorrow, so you should go home first."

"But Evelyn said she lives..." Cathy was still in shock and hadn't recovered.

"I know. What Evelyn meant was Lakeview Garden Community next to Emberwood Residence, probably just across two streets," Without going into details, Laura said, "Evelyn used to joke about buying a house inside Emberwood Residence in the future. Evelyn is drunk and joking."

That explanation seemed plausible. Cathy relaxed. "She scared me!"

"That's right! Tomorrow, when Evelyn wakes up, we'll tease her."

"Forget it; I don't trust you alone; I'll go with you." Sighing, Cathy hailed a taxi, opened the door, and wanted to go with Evelyn and Laura.

After settling Evelyn in, Laura got into the car and blocked the door. "Don't bother, Cathy. I'll take Evelyn home. I'll take care of Evelyn. I won't leave tonight. You have to work tomorrow, so don't bother following us. If you are worried about us I'll send you a message when we get there."

"But..." Cathy hesitated but thought Laura's reasoning made sense, so she nodded. "Alright, take care, and message me if anything happens."

She still took a picture of the license plate just to be safe before saying goodbye.

As the car started and drove away, Laura breathed a sigh of relief and turned to look at Evelyn, who had already fallen asleep, feeling a bit helpless.

Having known Evelyn for so many years, she had never seen Evelyn drunk before. Evelyn was a bit unusual today.

When the taxi arrived at Emberwood Residence, they couldn't go any further, as the security guard stopped them.

Laura didn't know which building or unit Evelyn lived in, and she didn't know Samuel's number either. She had no way to contact him, so she had no choice but to wake Evelyn up.

"Evelyn, Evelyn, we're here! Which building do you live in?" Gently patting Evelyn's cheek, Laura asked.

Furrowing her brows, Evelyn opened her eyes groggily. "Don't disturb me!"

With that said, her eyes closed again.

Laura fell silent.

Should she check Evelyn's phone?

But the taxi driver wasn't willing to wait. He had already let Laura and Evelyn out of the car and driven off. Evelyn was leaning against Laura, making it a bit difficult for Laura to find her phone.

"Evelyn, wake up, let's go home and sleep!" Laura coaxed Evelyn while trying to find the phone.

At that moment, the headlights in the distance were dazzling, and soon, the car pulled up next to Laura and Evelyn.

Laura instinctively held onto Evelyn and took a few steps back, but to her surprise, the car slowed down in front of them.

The window rolled down, and Samuel, sitting inside, frowned at Laura and Evelyn. "What's going on?"

Seeing Samuel, Laura felt relieved. "Mr. Whitman! We were out celebrating, but Evelyn got drunk."

Looking at Samuel's expression, Laura was scared. She thought, 'Evelyn, wake up quickly. Don't leave me to deal with this alone!'

"Get in the car."

Fortunately, Samuel didn't say much. Instead, he opened the car door himself and took Evelyn from Laura's arms.

Feeling the weight suddenly lifted, Laura breathed a sigh of relief. "Mr. Whitman, now that Evelyn is home, I'll leave first."

"Stay here."

Unexpectedly, Samuel stopped Laura. "It's not safe to get a taxi here."

"It's alright. I'll just walk down to the main road and catch a cab." Laura shrugged off the minor inconvenience, but Samuel quickly interjected, "Let Kyle give you a ride back later."

Laura fell silent.
