Chapter 46 Let's Try Again?

Evelyn smiled but did not respond. Cathy didn't press further. "Alright then. You're being so mysterious! Since someone is picking you up, I won't play the role of your chauffeur. I'll head out first. Goodbye."

She nodded, and they parted at the entrance of the company.

Cathy went to get her car from the parking lot. As she drove past the entrance, she saw Evelyn still standing there. She was about to say something to Evelyn, but then she saw her running forward.

Out of curiosity, Cathy slowed down and watched as Evelyn dashed toward a black car. Its door swung open, Evelyn entered, and the engine revved to life.

Cathy couldn't see the person inside the car, so she didn't know what they looked like.

"I admire my curiosity." Cathy shook her head and laughed. She stepped on the accelerator, watching the black car drive far away from her.

The logo on the car was eye-catching. "Maybach?"

...

"You smell really good today." Samuel ruffled Evelyn's still-damp hair and said with satisfaction, "Did you take a shower?"

"Yes." Evelyn leaned closer to him and comfortably rested her head on his shoulder. "I washed my hair three times."

Samuel adjusted his posture to make her more comfortable. Then, he picked up her hair and placed it in front of his nose. He took a deep breath. "Indeed, it smells amazing!"

"I passed the evaluation and can officially be hired." Evelyn felt happy, thinking about Cathy's words.

Either way, Cathy's recognition came through her hard work.

Since Evelyn agreed to work behind the scenes with Liam, she hadn't had much contact with people outside for several years. The recent lawsuit and negative news had exhausted her, but luckily Samuel had been by her side.

Hearing Evelyn's words, Samuel frowned. "Weren't you already hired a long time ago? Is Nasir just now processing your employment?"

"I didn't mean that. This is the first step. I obtained preliminary recognition." It was a good first step. Evelyn decided that she would gradually gain more recognition with her abilities and stand by his side without feeling inferior.

Samuel pondered for a moment, not understanding why she was happy. Nevertheless, her happiness was the most important.

"There's some issue at the Liavian Perfumes factory. It might go bankrupt," Samuel said casually as he held her hand.

Evelyn's fingers were long and slender, and her skin wasn't very smooth.

Perhaps it was because she had been doing experiments for a long time, coming into contact with various chemical ingredients. Although her hands felt soft, they were a bit rough. Samuel's fingers felt her rough skin, and he liked the feeling.

While he held her hand, Evelyn continued to ponder his words. "There's an issue at the factory?"

"They say the most important essential oil has problems, so the finished products are not up to standard. They are working to fix it urgently. All the employees at the Liavian Perfumes laboratory had their vacations canceled," Samuel explained.

"That explains it," Evelyn said.

"What?" Samuel looked at her with curiosity.

"Nothing," Evelyn said as she sat up and looked at Samuel. He still held her hand.

"Liam and Vivian called me today, saying they wanted to meet and talk. I think it might be related to the essential oil incident," she said.

"Did you agree?" Samuel asked, staring at her.

"Of course not," Evelyn said disdainfully, rolling her eyes. "I'm the defendant now, and they are the plaintiffs. How can I just meet them casually? Besides, I'm not an employee of Liavian Perfumes, so their problems have nothing to do with me. Why should I meet them?"

She pouted slightly. Maybe it was because she had just taken a bath, but her lips looked tender. The corners of her mouth drooped slightly, giving her a proud and disdainful look.

Samuel liked her expression very much. He pinched her chin and kissed her.

Evelyn didn't expect Samuel to suddenly kiss her. She widened her eyes and stared at him as if she was saying, "Could you have at least given me a heads up?"

Samuel just had the urge to kiss Evelyn. However, once he touched her lips, he couldn't control himself.

The passionate kiss lasted for a long time. Evelyn leaned against his shoulder, gasping for breath. Samuel couldn't help but laugh.

While he was laughing, he gently patted her back and said, "You should learn to breathe while kissing."

Every time they kissed, Evelyn held her breath until she almost passed out from lack of oxygen. What a silly girl!

But it meant that she had no experience in kissing. This discovery surprised and delighted Samuel.

He thought, 'Liam must have a problem with his brain. He had such a treasure but didn't know how to cherish her. But that's why Liam is not as annoying as he could be.'

Evelyn was still adjusting her breathing, trying to take deep breaths. She was angry at Samuel's words.

"You took away all my oxygen. How am I supposed to breathe? Why don't you give me some space to breathe?"

Her heart was beating intensely, and she could even hear her heartbeat.

Samuel smiled and said, "Are you saying I was wrong? Let's try again, shall we?"

As he spoke, he leaned closer to her.

Evelyn was startled and instinctively moved back. "No, there's no need!"

She hadn't adjusted her breath yet. If Samuel kissed her again, she would faint.

Samuel just wanted to tease Evelyn. Seeing her expression, he held back his laughter and pretended to be sad as he said, "You're starting to reject me."

He lowered his head, his handsome face expressing sorrow.

Evelyn felt guilty for hurting Samuel. She immediately waved her hand and said, "No, I just... I just—"

Softly, Samuel gave her a peck on the lips. However, this gentle kiss made her heart skip a beat.

Evelyn covered her face with both hands, feeling that Samuel knew how to tease her.

At that moment, her phone rang, an untimely interruption that nonetheless tempered the excitement in the air. Evelyn glanced at the screen, recognizing the familiar number from before. She hesitated briefly.

"Liam?" Samuel glanced at her and guessed.

"Yeah." She nodded, thought for a moment, and answered the call. "I said—"

Before Evelyn could finish her sentence, she heard Liam say, "If I withdraw the lawsuit, can we meet?"

Evelyn remained silent.

"Evelyn, running away won't solve the problem. The three of us should have a good talk." Liam paused for a moment and added, "This will be the last time."

Evelyn looked at Samuel, thought for a moment, and said, "Okay."
