Chapter 198 All Time Management Experts
Evelyn had never seen Samuel this ticked off before. It had been a whole night, and the dude hadn't said a peep.
If she wasn't jealous, Samuel was pissed; if she was jealous, he was still pissed.
Evelyn was a total rookie in the love game. When she was with Liam, she didn't even know what jealousy felt like. To her, she and Liam were just grinding for the future together. Back then, Vivian was just another buddy in their crew. Evelyn never thought there'd be anything shady between her and Liam.
But then, when the whole mess blew up, Evelyn felt totally betrayed, used, and straight-up deceived. She was mad and heartbroken.
Looking back now, the anger was way stronger than the sadness, and jealousy? Not so much.
So, did he want her to be jealous or not? But he had nothing going on with Sophia, so why should she be jealous?
Before Evelyn could untangle all this, she got a call from Lisa, "Evelyn, you back in Vistalia yet?"
"Not yet. My flight's tomorrow." Evelyn had just finished washing up and saw Samuel still knocked out, so she threw on her PJs and went to the living room to take the call.
"Great. Are you free today? Wanna grab a bite?" Lisa sounded all apologetic, "Last time, you got kidnapped because of me. I feel terrible and want to make it right. Give me a chance this time."
Evelyn tried to calm Lisa down. "That wasn't on you. The kidnappers just pretended to be sent by you. Not your fault. About the meal..."
She glanced towards the bedroom, unsure of Samuel's plans.
"You gotta come. I'll be waiting for you." Lisa quickly added, "Oh, Mr. Parker will be there too."
"Mr. Parker? You know Mr. Parker too?" Evelyn's mind jumped to the guy who sold Marseille soap yesterday. Did Lisa know him too? What a small world!
Lisa was confused. "What are you talking about? We met him at the hospital together. You met him through me! You saved his kid, and now Mr. Parker wants to thank you properly, so you gotta come today!"
With Lisa's reminder, Evelyn remembered meeting Jackson at the hospital.
They'd only met once, so she didn't remember his full name.
"I don't really need..." Evelyn started to say it wasn't necessary to make a big deal out of it, but Lisa had already hung up, not giving her a chance to refuse.
"What's up?" a voice came from behind, making Evelyn jump. She turned around and saw the handsome Samuel!
He had probably just finished washing up, wearing loose pajamas, but the belt around his waist wasn't fastened, showing off his chiseled chest. Leaning against the door frame, his lazy eyes swept over Evelyn, and just one look was enough to make her heart race.
Evelyn was momentarily stunned!
Even though it wasn't the first time she'd seen Samuel's body, she still couldn't resist his looks.
"When?" Samuel asked again, then straightened up and walked towards Evelyn.
Evelyn snapped back to reality, giving her cheeks a little slap to wake up. "I thought you were planning to keep giving me the silent treatment!"
Samuel pulled her into his arms and said softly, "Why would I do that?"
Evelyn rolled her eyes at him, feeling a bit exasperated. "Yeah, why wouldn't you talk to me?"
She had no clue!
Her eye roll was so cute that it made Samuel chuckle.
"Alright, let's just forget about it," Samuel said, ruffling her hair. "Who was on the phone?"
Pouting, Evelyn touched her head, still puzzled about why they were suddenly moving on as if she was the one who had been mad yesterday.
But since Samuel seemed back to his usual self, Evelyn decided not to argue. "It was Lisa. She wants to grab a meal today."
"Got it."
"Do you have any plans today? If not, I'll go meet her."
"Nope, you go ahead." Samuel smiled.
He had a couple of clients to meet, which wasn't a big deal, but since he was here, he might as well handle it.
"Oh, I heard you mention Mr. Parker just now?" he asked.
Evelyn grinned. "Did you also think it was the Mr. Parker from yesterday? When Lisa mentioned it, I thought she meant him too. But no, it's just a coincidence. This Mr. Parker's kid had a food allergy, and I happened to help out, so he wants to thank me."
"Isn't that a coincidence? Did the whole Parker family from Vistalia move here?" Evelyn said casually, but Samuel seemed deep in thought.
Was it just a coincidence, or was he overthinking it?
"When did you save Mr. Parker's kid?" Samuel was more curious about what Evelyn had been up to. He'd only been away for a few days, and she was already surprising him.
"It was just a fluke. I was at a restaurant, and the kid had a food allergy. I knew a bit about it, so I helped out. Didn't think much of it." Evelyn shrugged it off.
Samuel bent down to kiss her hair. "You're amazing! Is there anything you can't do?"
"You should ask, what can I do?" Evelyn ducked her head to avoid more kisses and laughed. "I need to set a time with Lisa and change my clothes."
As she walked towards the bedroom, she turned back. "But today, I'm not hanging out with you!"
Samuel put a hand on his chest, pretending to be hurt. "You wound me."
Evelyn burst out laughing.
She and Lisa agreed to meet at noon. Jackson was really busy. He was willing to meet at both noon and evening, but preferred noon because he had business to attend to in the evening.
Business folks were all about time management. Like Samuel, who came to see Evelyn but also managed to close a deal and had other stuff lined up for the day.
In comparison, Evelyn wasn't into all that socializing. She preferred dealing with spices and essences.
