Chapter 179 She Must Be Safe

Michael glanced at Evelyn and raised his voice on purpose. "How am I supposed to know how much is for one day or two? She's already tied up; why didn't you get her right away? Enough with the drama! What now?"

Rosen, probably just as mad, paused and asked, "Where's Nathan?"

"Nathan..." Michael thought for a second. "He's still checking if she can be saved. Get over here, quick!"

Evelyn then hung up decisively.

"Did I do the right thing?" Michael asked, trying to please Evelyn and avoid her anger.

Evelyn looked at Michael coldly, snorting before standing up and saying, "You three stay put. I'll deal with you all later!"

Samuel booked the next flight, eager to see Evelyn. But after landing, he couldn't reach her.

She was nowhere to be found, even at her hotel. He got anxious.

He used his contacts in Francis and called Neogenito Fragrances. Nasir, surprised by the personal call, quickly answered, "No, I haven't heard anything today."

"Alright, keep me posted. Let me know if you hear anything!" Nasir corrected himself, "Actually, let me know either way!"

Nasir then tried calling Evelyn but couldn't reach her. He asked Cathy to find Olivia's number, but no one answered. Now, he was nervous.

He started sweating. He didn't understand why Samuel called personally since Evelyn's visits were usually arranged by Kyle. He even thought she was important to Kyle.

"Mr. Whitman..." Nasir stammered, "No luck."

"Have you contacted the tasting competition organizers?" Samuel asked deeply.

His tone was unreadable, but it felt like a threat that terrified Nasir.

"I did. They said they left after the two rounds and didn't see Evelyn. Moreover, there's no record of her returning to the hotel, so something might've happened on the way," Nasir said softly.

"What happened on the way?"

"I don't know," he replied, "I'll send someone to find out right away..."

"No need!" Samuel cut him off. "Tell your people to report any info immediately."

"Got it!" he hung up, sweat dripping down his forehead.

Samuel looked calm, but his mind was racing.

From family training to company takeovers, risks, and assassination attempts, Samuel had faced it all. However, he'd never felt as panicked as he did now.

He was genuinely scared something might've happened to Evelyn.

He couldn't dwell on it; he had to act fast. He arranged for people to contact the police and used all his connections to investigate.

He kept thinking, 'Evelyn must be safe!'

On the other hand, Evelyn was bored while waiting. Thus, she wandered around the house looking for food. She checked on Olivia, who was still out cold from the heavy drug.

If she had been drugged, she'd be out like Olivia.

She couldn't find her phone or Olivia's, only a phone she took from Nathan, which had a weird interface and wasn't fully functional.

"Where's my phone?" Evelyn asked the thugs when she returned to the room.

Without a phone, she couldn't contact the office or call Samuel.

Michael said, "I don't know."

She looked at him coldly, making him nervous.

"I really don't know. I just drove. I didn't do anything!"

Evelyn believed him and turned to James, then crouched in front of Nathan. "You tell me, where's my phone?"

Nathan just stared at her, unable to move or speak. He thought, 'I heard about that mysterious judo from a family, but today I learnt it from a woman!'

"I forgot you can't talk!" she said, helping Nathan sit up. "Tell me about my phone! And where's my assistant's phone?"

Nathan grinned. "It was smashed!"

"Smashed?" she smiled too, but then Nathan howled in pain as she drove a dagger through his hand.

Blood poured from the wound.

"Did this hand do it?" she asked, still smiling. "Oh sorry, did I make a mistake? I'll do it again!"

She pulled the dagger out.

Nathan winced in pain. "I'll kill you!"

"Kill me? You have to move first." she sneered. "I'll ask you again; where's my phone?"

"It was really smashed," James suddenly said, maybe scared by her fierceness. "I smashed it to avoid tracking. I don't know where it is now."

Holding the bloody dagger, she walked over to James. "So you smashed it?" she asked, expressionless.

"I..." he paused. "I can buy you a new one."

"Buy me one?" she sneered. "How can you replace my data? Or should I take your hand..."

Before she could finish, they heard a car outside.

The thugs' faces changed. Evelyn stared at James. "You have company."

They all stayed silent.
