Chapter 144 You and Evelyn Shall Regret
Liam forcefully pulled his hand away, sighing. "Forget it."
"Vivian, we all know we can't go back to the past. Everything can't be redone." Liam lowered his gaze, looking at Vivian's abdomen. "The child, I think, we shouldn't have it."
Vivian really didn't expect that Liam would decisively not want the child anymore. She pondered, 'Liam really liked this child before and cared about the child a lot, but now, Liam actually said he didn't want the child. It meant that Liam really intended to separate from me! No way! Even if we were to separate, I should be the one who initiates the separation, not Liam. Why does Liam have the right? I have done so much for him; I spent so many years of my youth with him. What qualifications does he have to suggest ending it?'
"Of course, if you insist on wanting to give birth, I will take responsibility for the child's upbringing, but..." Liam paused, looking at Vivian. "I think you wouldn't want this child either, right?"
That gaze made Vivian tremble in her heart. Besides feeling exposed, she also felt resentment and embarrassment.
"Liam! You are so heartless!"
"Vivian, we have come to this point. I admit I also have a responsibility, but do you not have any? Do you think I really don't know the things you did to Evelyn?" Liam said.
Things had come to this point. There was no harm in laying some truths bare.
Previously, it was not that Liam didn't know, but at that time, Liam's heart was biased towards Vivian; his thoughts and emotions were all on Vivian. Naturally, he could tolerate whatever Vivian did, willing to look the other way. But now, looking at it calmly from a distance, he felt that what Ava said was not wrong; his judgment of women was indeed not very good.
Liam hoped it was not too late and that everything could still be salvaged.
"In the end, you regret it, regret choosing me, and regret giving up Evelyn, right?" Vivian was infuriated.
Liam raised his head, unusually calm and firm. "Yes!"
Liam didn't evade at all and very straightforwardly expressed, "I regret it. I'm sorry to Evelyn, and now, I'm sorry to you, too. Vivian, what you want, I can't give; we are fundamentally on different paths; let's just let each other go and fight for what we want for ourselves."
Looking at Liam, who seemed like a different person, Vivian was full of suspicion. "No, you weren't like this before. Did someone tell you something? Was it Evelyn? Did Evelyn come to see you?"
There was only Evelyn as a possibility; otherwise, why would Liam mention Evelyn?
Vivian thought, 'Evelyn is indeed cunning, first hitting on Rosen and then turning around to seduce Liam. Anyway, Evelyn wants to snatch everything from me. Whatever I want, Evelyn wants to take away!'
Liam didn't know Vivian's thoughts, only saying, "It's not her. Don't speculate randomly."
The more Liam said this, the more Vivian felt certain it was Evelyn. Because of her anger, her beautiful face also turned fierce. "Fine, Liam! Since you are heartless, please don't blame me for being unscrupulous! But remember, it's me who doesn't want you, not you who doesn't want me! You and Evelyn get ready to regret it! I will let you know who is the best!"
This time, Vivian really left.
Listening to the gradually fading footsteps, Liam breathed a sigh of relief, finding that apart from a little reluctance, there was a sense of relief as if a burden had been lifted.
Would Liam regret it? Regardless, he did give up Evelyn and indeed felt a bit of regret.
When Evelyn returned to the wood carving shop, Alex was not there. Only the owner was there.
"You're here. Have you decided what item and size you want?" The owner greeted her warmly.
Nodding, Evelyn took out the prepared drawings but didn't hand them over. "Where's Alex?"
"You mean Alex!" The owner smiled. "He hasn't been here lately. I don't know what's up, and he doesn't even answer the phone. I thought if he didn't come tomorrow, I wouldn't let Alex come anymore. Young people these days are really unreliable."
'He last came here two days ago?' Evelyn thought for a moment and said, "Wasn't Alex working here long-term?"
The owner shook his head. "No, he only came for a month or two. I saw he had some skills, and I've been busy lately and needed someone to watch the shop, so I let Alex stay. Unexpectedly, he's so unreliable. He just had a few days off work and didn't show up without saying anything."
At this point, it seemed like he remembered something. "Don't worry. Your work won't be delayed. Even if Alex doesn't come, I'll definitely find you a skilled craftsman to ensure your work is done well and properly!"
"Do you have Alex's phone number?" Evelyn seemed not to care about the owner's talk of finding a skilled artisan.
"I do, but even if you call, he doesn't answer." Looking troubled, the owner pulled out a phone number. "Here it is."
Glancing at it, Evelyn noted down the number.
Evelyn came to make this item because Mr. Jones' birthday was approaching. Even if Evelyn didn't go back, she should at least send a gift, but as for the piece of wood she wanted to develop a new product with, she still needed to find Alex.
Just as she left the wood carving shop, she received a call from Cathy. "Where are you?"
"I'm out shopping," Evelyn replied.
"Come back to the company quickly," Cathy said.
"Now?" Evelyn was surprised.
"Yes, right now, don't delay! Hurry and come over!" Ending the call, perhaps fearing Evelyn's worry, she added, "It's good news!"
Detecting the joy in Cathy's tone, Evelyn wondered what good news was. Evelyn had nothing else to do, so she quickly hailed a cab to the company. Upon arriving, Cathy was already waiting at the elevator, seemingly waiting for Evelyn.
"What's going on? What's the matter?" Evelyn looked puzzled. "Is the company giving out bonuses?"
"If it was just about bonuses, I could have credited it to your account! Look at you. You have some skills, but your vision is too short-sighted!" Pulling Evelyn along as they walked in, Cathy spoke quickly, "Let me tell you, the company has a project now, and only you can do it."
"What project is so important?" Evelyn asked.
Before Cathy could answer Evelyn's question, they had already reached the door of the general manager's office.
"Cathy." The general manager's secretary was already waiting outside, looking very serious.
Evelyn raised an eyebrow at her; Cathy nodded to Evelyn, made a gesture of encouragement, and then said no more, leading Evelyn into the office.
The general manager Nasir was already inside. Something like a document was on the table in front of him. He looked at it closely, lifting his head at the sound. He smiled, "You're here!"
