Chapter 181 Damn Hostage!

Nathan screamed.

Not far from him, James saw the dagger pierce Nathan's uninjured hand, making him drop his gun and turn pale.

James felt a sting on his ear where the dagger had grazed him, making him realize how close he came to getting seriously hurt.

Nathan, now with both hands injured, screamed in pain and fury. "I'm going to kill you!" he yelled, glaring at James. "James, kill her!"

James was stunned, his mind blank. He had never seen such a strong woman before.

"What are you waiting for? Move!" Nathan shouted. Sirens blared outside, and flashing lights filled the room. "Did they call the cops?" He asked.

"Run!" The thugs were all wanted and would have to face life sentences if caught.

Nathan and James bolted for the door, while Evelyn dashed upstairs. Rosen tried to tackle her but tripped and grabbed Nathan instead.

"Let go!" Nathan yelled, desperate to escape. Rosen clung on, not wanting to be left behind.

"You can't leave me!" Rosen pleaded. He didn't want to go to jail either.

"Nathan, it's too late!" James shouted.

The house was surrounded by police, and a loudspeaker blared, "You're surrounded! Release the hostage!"

Nathan and James went silent.

Upstairs, Michael heard gunfire but didn't know what was happening. He hoped Nathan and James would succeed so he could get revenge on Evelyn.

As the sirens grew louder, he grew anxious. What should he do? He couldn't run now!

Suddenly, the door burst open, and Evelyn rushed in. Michael felt his body relax and realized he could move again. He looked at her, confused.

'What's going on?' He thought. 'If Nathan and James failed, why did shefree me?'

He heard the police downstairs shouting, "You..."

"Shut up!" She snapped.

He clammed up, fearing she'd kick his ass if he said another word.

He didn't understand the situation downstairs, but he knew he had to run now or never. He peeked out the window and saw a swarm of people, making his legs weak.

'Why are there so many people here?!' he thought.

He found a gap with fewer people and thought about escaping, but a cold voice stopped him. "If you dare to run, I'll break your leg."

His legs gave out, sliding down the window.

'I believe it! That devil Evelyn can do anything!' he thought.

However, she didn't kill him or let him leave. What did she want?

"What do you want?" He asked, almost begging.

"Stay here and watch me," She said coldly, her eyes like knives.

He stood up straight. "Yes!"

However, something felt off.

Soon, he knew why.

Hearing no movement inside, the police planned to break in. James tried resisting, but was sniped. When the police rushed in, they found Nathan bleeding and Rosen barely alive.

Rosen was quickly handcuffed, and the group rushed upstairs.

"Hostage found!" one team shouted. Samuel, following the police, saw a strange woman. "It's not her!"

The search continued, and Michael heard the commotion outside. He cursed his luck, 'Running is bad, staying is worse. So many cops outside, and Evelyn's still here. How unlucky can I get?'

"Hands up!" Guns pointed at Michael. "Release the hostage!"

He raised his hands, thinking it was better than facing Evelyn. However, who was the hostage? He was the victim here!

"Ms. Taylor?" a cop asked. Evelyn replied tearfully, "It's me."

Michael was puzzled. 'Why is she crying? I should be the one crying.'

"Ms. Taylor, don't be afraid, you're safe now. We..."

A tall figure pushed to the front. "Evelyn!"

Evelyn, eyes wide, forgot to wipe her tears. She stared at Samuel, dumbfounded. "How did you get here?"

'Isn't he supposed to be in the country? When did he arrive?' she thought.

Samuel strode over and hugged her. "It's okay! Don't be afraid, I'm here!"

Evelyn and Michael fell silent.

He took off his coat and draped it over her, protecting her. "I'm sorry I'm late. You've suffered."

Seeing her tear-streaked face made him uncomfortable.

Thinking of her being kidnapped by ruthless criminals, he wanted to kill them.

"Why do you think she suffered?" Michael exclaimed.
