Chapter 100 Jealousy
Camilla's face went ice-cold. "Everyone's seen my interview video online. If you still question my score, go ahead and report it to the school. Just don't talk outta your ass."
"Spreading rumors is easy in this society. Like, whoever posted those pics of me and Sebastian online? Still a mystery."
As Camilla spoke, she locked eyes with Clara, watching every flicker of her expression.
At the mention of the recent event, Clara's eyes betrayed her, flickering with guilt. Camilla instantly grasped the situation—it was her. It was completely expected, and it all made sense.
Camilla said, "You're accusing me, but why do you sound so jealous?"
Clara's face screamed regret, like she was mad she didn't think of it first.
She shot back, "What are you so smug about? Amara's pregnant with Leopold's kid. Bet you didn't know that."
Camilla stayed cool. "Found out just half a day before you did."
Clara was floored.
"You came here to see Professor Garcia, right? She's not here. You can leave now," said Camilla.
Camilla's words hit Clara like a slap, making her bristle like a cat with its tail stepped on. "Who do you think you are! She's not here, and you can't tell me to leave! I'm going in today, no matter what. What are you gonna do about it?"
"She can't do anything, but as the host, I should be able to, right?" Aurora adjusted her glasses behind her, face like ice.
Clara's face went stiff. She didn't know when Aurora had shown up or if she heard everything.
She tried to explain. "Professor Garcia, I—"
"I remember you." Aurora's sharp eyes pinned her. "You came to see me last time too."
Clara didn't expect Aurora to remember her, but before she could feel pleased, Aurora cut her off sternly, "Wasn't I clear enough last time?"
"I'm a teacher. I want my students to get good grades through their own efforts, not by looking for shortcuts!"
Aurora had seen plenty of students like Clara. She was strict, especially about academics, and had zero tolerance for mistakes.
For someone like Clara, who tried to pull tricks right under her nose, the fact that she was still standing here and speaking kindly was already her last bit of patience.
"Take your stuff and leave. I don't want to see this happen a third time!" Aurora uttered sternly.
Clara walked out of the yard, feeling dejected after being rejected twice. But more than that, she felt frustrated and resentful.
She thought, 'Professor Garcia was harsh with me but kind to Camilla. Why? How am I any worse than Camilla?'
As Clara fumed, a gentle voice suddenly sounded in her ear. "Are you a student who interviewed for the graduate program this time?"
Clara looked up to see an elderly lady with a kind smile, dressed in a dark green long dress. Her silver hair was meticulously styled, and she exuded elegance and composure.
This area was home to teachers and professors, and the elderly lady in front of her was also a professor at Harmony College, teaching in the same Life Sciences Department as Aurora.
"Are you Professor Ross?" Clara was surprised and then felt a surge of joy.
She had come across some information about Calliope Ross online. Although Calliope's achievements in academic research were not as impressive as Aurora's, she had made some notable accomplishments in recent years. Her career was on a rapid rise.
More importantly, Aurora was extremely strict with her students, allowing no mistakes, while Calliope was known for her gentle demeanor and nurturing approach.
Being recognized by such a teacher made Clara feel like she wasn't entirely worthless.
Calliope smiled kindly. "I happened to be observing during your last interview, so I remember you. I heard you were the fourth candidate, just missing the third spot by a small margin."
She offered, "I happen to have one more spot for a graduate student. Would you like to be my student?"
