Chapter 250 Sent into His Arms
The event was being held on the third floor of the bookstore.
It wasn't even time to enter yet, and there was already a large crowd of readers waiting outside.
A dozen security guards were maintaining order.
On one side near the door, there's a large display rack neatly stacked with Bella's new book, "Seven Days' Discourse."
In addition, there's a large standee featuring the book cover and cartoon images of several key characters.
"So many people?" A young girl exclaimed as she stepped in, startled.
Her boyfriend followed closely behind and, seeing the scene, blurted out a curse.
"It's just a book signing, why does it look like a celebrity fan event?"
The girl was a fan of celebrities, having followed many over the years, but she had never chased after a novel.
Last week, she suddenly noticed her dad reading a suspense novel with a rather creepy cover.
Coincidentally, her phone broke that day and was sent to the repair shop, which wouldn't be fixed until the afternoon. Bored, she picked up the novel.
And then she couldn't put it down!
When her phone was fixed and returned in the afternoon, she didn't even touch it.
She stayed up all night to finish the entire book, then started frantically searching online for information about the author, finding very little.
She messaged her boyfriend to complain: The author doesn't even have a social media account!
The girl was extremely curious about the person who could write such an amazing book, but after searching for a long time and finding nothing, she reluctantly read the author's other two suspense novels.
She didn't have high expectations, thinking they would be outdated and bad since they were written ten years ago.
Unexpectedly, she couldn't put those down either!
She spent a week reading all of Bella's novels. Except for one terrible teen romance, the other suspense and mystery novels were increasingly brilliant.
In fact, the two works from ten years ago still felt relevant today, even reflecting the dark sides of society in a realistic way.
Such content would definitely not be published today, but it was written ten years ago!
It was truly amazing!
Everything that could and couldn't be written was written, and it was done so profoundly, depicting the complexities of human nature vividly.
Recently, she learned that the author was holding a book signing, but the timing clashed with a celebrity meet-and-greet she was planning to attend.
After two days of indecision, she decided to go to the book signing.
But as soon as she reached downstairs, she regretted it.
Her boyfriend said, "We're already here."
Alright, they planned to take a look and then head to the celebrity meet-and-greet.
"So many people! Hahaha! Where's my support sign? Take it out! Hurry!"
Her boyfriend said, "Didn't you throw it downstairs just now?"
"What are you standing there for? Go pick it up for me!"
"We agreed to just take a look and then go to your idol's meet-and-greet, didn't we?"
"Oh, forget it, forget it. The celebrity meet-and-greet can't compare to this. I just love squeezing in with everyone."
Women were so fickle.
"What are you standing there for? Go pick up the support sign!"
"Okay."
Soon, the boyfriend picked up the support sign and returned, just in time for the entry.
The girl held her boyfriend's hand in one hand and the sign in the other, rushing to the front!
Only to find that the front row was filled with people her parents' age.
She asked, "What's going on?"
Her boyfriend was also confused and blurted out, "Why are there so many older people?"
This angered the crowd.
"What's wrong with older people?! You got a problem with that?"
The boy tried to explain, "You guys still follow celebrities at your age?"
"We don't follow celebrities, we follow novels! What's it to you?"
"Exactly!"
The boy was dumbfounded, "Bella has a such wide audience?"
"We've been Bella's fans for ten years. In between getting married, having kids, and working, we might not be active online like you young folks with your rankings and data, but we spend real money to buy books."
"Yeah, we're just busy, not dead!"
The girl looked around and saw that the fans were indeed of all ages.
Soon, the host took the stage, gave a brief opening speech, and Bella was invited up amidst a round of applause.
"Bella is so beautiful!"
"Oh my God! She's stunning!"
"Who would've thought the author of the novel that scared me to death is such a beauty? The contrast is unreal!"
Bella wore a black dress she bought yesterday, with a white scarf tied around her waist. With each step, the scarf fluttered lightly with the dress, exuding elegance.
"Hello everyone, I'm Bella. I'm very happy to meet you all here today." Bella said, bowing deeply.
The crowd erupted in thunderous applause.
Camilla stood in the crowd, watching Bella shine on stage, and smiled along.
After the Q&A session, it was time for the much-anticipated book signing.
The crowd surged forward, pushing Camilla along. She tried to sidestep but was pushed from behind, causing her to lunge forward.
Just as she was about to fall, a pair of hands reached out, grabbing her waist and steadying her.
"Thank you, huh? Sebastian!" Camilla exclaimed, looking at the man in front of her, "What are you doing here?"
Sebastian cleared his throat and withdrew his hands, his fingers twitching instinctively.
Her waist was indeed small enough to grasp with both hands.
Sebastian picked up the book he had dropped, dusted off the cover, revealing Bella's "Seven Days' Discourse." "Of course, I'm here for Bella's book signing."
Camilla said, "You read it too?"
"Yeah."
Camilla looked at him with a complicated expression, "If you wanted a signed book, you could've just asked my mom to sign it for you. Why come here and squeeze in?"
"It's not the same."
"What's not..." Before Camilla could finish, she was pushed again by the crowd.
She and Sebastian had been standing face to face, and the push sent her straight into his arms.
Her cheek pressed against his warm chest, and Camilla was stunned.
Sebastian's body also stiffened.
At this moment, Camilla was in his arms, and with a slight lift of his hand, he could fully embrace her.
Above her head, Sebastian's slow, shallow breaths and the sound of his heartbeat thumping in her ears made Camilla's breathing faster.
Realizing this, she quickly tried to pull away, but damn it, someone pushed her again!
She crashed into him once more, this time even closer.
"Sorry, I..." I didn't mean to!
