Chapter 186 Contrast
Two hours later, Clio and Travis came out of the mall carrying large bags.
Suddenly Clio exclaimed, "Oh no! I forgot to buy a necklace! Let's go back."
Travis, with his hands full and legs almost giving out from all the walking. "Mom, how about we call it a day? We have so much stuff, going back and forth is exhausting."
Clio frowned, but with so many things in her hands, it was indeed inconvenient.
Her eyes darted around and landed on the necklace around Elodie's neck.
"Hey? That necklace on your neck looks pretty good. Give it to me, and you can buy another one."
Elodie's eyes widened in shock, completely stunned.
That necklace was a limited edition from Cartier. She waited four months and spent nearly seven figures to get it.
Who did Clio think she was?
How shameless would she be to say something like that?!
Clio raised an eyebrow. "What's with that look? It's just a necklace, not your life! Besides, I haven't even minded that you've worn it. I'm giving you a chance to get a new one, and you're not grateful? If you can't bear to part with it, forget it. I was planning to have a good talk with you to resolve this matter quickly, but it seems you lack sincerity. Fine, let's drag it out then. I'm not in a hurry."
With that, she turned to Travis. "By the way, Travis, let's post that video again when we get back."
In just a few sentences, she played the game of threatening perfectly.
Elodie's face turned pale. She was about to tell them to get lost when Brady's warning echoed in her ears.
She took several deep breaths to barely suppress her anger, gritted her teeth, and reluctantly took off the necklace.
"That's more like it! You're rich, what's wrong with being generous?"
Clio immediately put it on, "Travis, does it look good?"
Travis chuckled. "Looks better."
He meant better than Elodie.
"I warn you not to push your luck! Everyone's patience has its limits!"
With that, she walked away briskly.
This time, Clio didn't call her back but instead admired the necklace in the glass reflection, feeling very pleased.
"Mom, are we just going to let her go?"
"We can't push her too hard all at once. Take it slow; there will be plenty of opportunities."
Three days later, the opportunity came.
Clio called Elodie. "I rarely come to Imperial City, and I haven't even visited a decent tourist spot..."
Before she could finish, Elodie understood immediately that there was another request. "Fine, I'll arrange a tour guide for you."
"What do we need a tour guide for? You can take us around yourself."
Elodie took a deep breath and explained, "A tour guide is more professional."
"We don't need professional; we're looking for sincerity."
Elodie had no choice.
The next day, she got up early and met Clio and Travis at the hotel entrance, then took them to a museum!
"This place has nothing to eat, drink, or play with, just a bunch of people!"
Clio complained a couple of times. She didn't understand it, so she wasn't interested, only feeling it was crowded to death.
"Let's go, let's get out of here."
Elodie smirked sarcastically and was about to leave with them when she suddenly saw a familiar figure.
Camilla was standing with Juniper, and behind them was an older couple.
The man was standing in front of a display window, taking pictures of the exhibits with his phone.
The woman was also admiring the exhibits, her gaze focused.
Upon closer inspection, her features bore a six or seven-point resemblance to Camilla.
Elodie guessed that these two were probably Camilla's parents.
Alistair was taking pictures while exclaiming, "This painting is simply amazing."
A few days ago, Camilla had already taken them around once, and today was a second visit.
Alistair was still very enthusiastic.
At this moment, a tour group of mostly elderly people came over. Hearing Alistair speak so knowledgeably, they smiled and asked him to say more.
Their eyesight wasn't good, and reading the text was difficult, so they preferred listening to explanations. Unfortunately, they had lost their tour guide.
"We love listening to you, please continue!"
Alistair, thinking he was doing a good deed, not only read the text next to the exhibits but also added a lot of knowledge that wasn't there.
When he finished, there was a round of applause.
Unbeknownst to him, besides the elderly, young people scattered around had also gathered.
"Can you talk about the artifact next to it?" a young person asked.
Alistair glanced at it and indeed recognized it! He enthusiastically explained it to everyone.
"You're amazing! Are you a teacher?"
No wonder they guessed that, because Alistair's attire, demeanor, and speech all resembled a teacher.
Alistair smiled and waved his hand. "I teach physics."
"He really is a teacher!"
"No wonder he's so knowledgeable!"
Juniper, mingling in the crowd, joined in the cheer.
"You're amazing! And your wife is gorgeous!"
At this point, everyone's attention turned to Bella.
Wow, she was stunning.
Standing together, the two were the epitome of "elegance" and "intellect."
Elodie stood outside the crowd, witnessing Alistair's eloquent speech and hearing the exclamations and praises from the crowd.
Then she turned and saw Clio and Travis, looking shifty-eyed, impatient, and eager to leave.
At that moment, her feelings were more complex than ever.
She couldn't help but feel regret at the contrast.
