Chapter 200 Already Made an Appointment
Paloma couldn't help but complain. "The environment in your apartment building is terrible. There's trash everywhere, it's dirty and smelly. Doesn't anyone clean up? And look at these walls, they're practically black. The railings are covered in dust, probably never been cleaned."
Camilla glanced at the time. If she delayed any longer, she'd be late. Seeing that Paloma was fine, she didn't bother listening to her complaints and left directly.
Paloma watched Camilla's back, stunned for a moment, then couldn't help but purse her lips.
The feeling of being ignored grew stronger.
She looked up; there were still several floors to go, all with these stairs.
Paloma took a deep breath, gritted her teeth, and resignedly continued climbing in her high heels.
As she went up, she kept complaining, "Why leave a perfectly good apartment to rent this rundown place? It's infuriating!"
Finally reaching the seventh floor, Paloma took out a spare key to open the door.
Sebastian wasn't there.
He should be at the lab at this time.
Paloma looked around; the living room was very clean, and there were only enough living supplies for one person.
She even checked the floor and didn't find a single long hair.
Paloma was puzzled. Could it be that she was overthinking?
She turned to the kitchen to take the lunchbox she had brought over that day.
Suddenly, Paloma froze, her body stiffening.
There was only one set of lunch boxes on the kitchen counter!
One set!
The other set was missing.
So, it was given to someone else.
Paloma thought, 'Something's definitely up!'
Paloma didn't stay long after discovering this clue and went straight back to her house. "See, I was right!"
Cedric raised an eyebrow. "Did you catch him in the act?"
"What act? It's not like he's committing a crime!"
"So why are you in such a hurry?"
Paloma was lost in her thoughts, not listening to him. "Don't you know Sebastian's personality? Even if there were girls around him, he wouldn't give them a second glance. Now he's bringing someone food? He usually keeps to himself, so he must have a girlfriend!"
Paloma was initially doubtful, but the more she analyzed, the more convinced she became.
Cedric, holding a teacup, looked helpless. "You went all the way to Sebastian's place just for this? You must be really bored. You should focus more on Santino and Ragnar's marriage."
Paloma retorted confidently. "Santino has always been independent; he doesn't listen to me, and I can't control him. As for Ragnar, he's always attracting women and constantly in scandals. He doesn't need my concern."
She continued, "But Sebastian, he's not young anymore and spends all his time in the lab. As his mother, shouldn't I be more attentive? Sebastian is so outstanding. I don't expect his future wife to be amazing, but at least I need to know her background to feel at ease, right?"
Cedric sighed, rubbing his forehead. "Santino is independent, but isn't Sebastian? If Sebastian really has something going on, it's not something we can control. It's better to let things take their course and let him handle it himself."
Paloma rolled her eyes. "You don't understand."
After a full day of classes, Camilla had dinner and then spent some time at the library.
By the time she left, it was already dark.
Walking home, the streetlights on both sides of the road were bright, so it wasn't scary.
Camilla reached the stairwell just as Sebastian returned from his night run.
Sebastian was dressed in black sportswear, his forehead sweaty but his breathing steady and his expression calm, showing no signs of having just exercised.
"Good evening, Sebastian."
"Why are you coming back so late?"
Camilla said, "I stayed at the library for a while."
As they spoke, they reached the seventh floor.
"By the way, I've cleaned the lunchbox. Wait a moment."
Camilla opened the door and quickly came out with the lunchbox.
Sebastian reached out to take it.
Suddenly, he asked. "Is Aurora leading you in a project recently?"
"Yes. But the progress is..."
"I discussed it with her before. Her approach has issues, but you know Aurora's personality. She won't turn back until she verifies it to the end."
Camilla had noticed this too.
She had even mentioned it to Aurora, but Aurora believed that without sufficient data support, changing the research direction would waste the past two years' efforts.
"Are you free this Saturday? We could have a meal together and discuss how to persuade her."
"Saturday?" Camilla bit her lip, "Sorry, I've already made plans."
Sebastian paused. "No problem, let's arrange it when you're free."
"Okay."
On Saturday, Camilla and Hestia met at Royce's place.
Royce sent a message: [I've already called the property management. Just give the apartment number when you enter.]
Camilla looked up at the apartment in front of her.
Hestia clicked her tongue. "Royce is really rich."
This place was bought, not rented, and the owner's name was Royce.
They had seen it when they registered at the entrance.
Royce lived on the twelfth floor. As soon as Hestia and Camilla entered, the sensor lock opened, and he pushed the door open, casually saying. "Come in, there are disposable slippers. Want something to drink?"
Hestia's eyes lit up. "Do you have Coke?"
"Yes. Do you want regular or diet?"
"Of course, regular. Diet Coke sucks!"
Royce didn't comment and asked Camilla. "What about you?"
"Water is fine."
She wasn't picky about drinks.
After changing into slippers, Camilla glanced around the apartment. The decor, like Royce himself, was mainly black, white, and gray—simple and straightforward.
Hestia boldly took a tour and finally stopped in front of a cabinet, pointing to something that looked like a specimen or a rack.
"What is this bone for?"
Royce said, "Decoration."
"It looks unique. Where can I buy it? Can you share the link?"
Royce replied, "You can't buy it."
"Why not?"
"It's a human bone."
Hestia immediately jumped back three steps and thought, 'What kind of family uses human bones as decorations!'
Seeing this, Royce's lips curved slightly. "Just kidding. I'll send you the link later."
Hestia was speechless and thought, 'He's really got issues! Big issues!'
Meanwhile, Camilla had already taken out her laptop. "We have three sets of data. It's not a lot, but not a little either. Let's start early."
"Okay." The two immediately got serious.
They worked through the entire morning.
The efficiency was higher than Camilla had expected.
Royce's professional ability and knowledge were impressive, to say the least.
What really surprised her was Hestia.
Although her foundation wasn't as solid as Royce's, she had a good memory and was very good at drawing inferences.
Her mental agility far exceeded her body.
