Chapter 282 Be My Girlfriend

Keeping a distance was best for both Camilla and Leopold.

Camilla put away the files and pen. Suddenly, Leopold murmured to himself, "But I still consider you a friend."

Camilla left.

Leopold watched her back, then looked away calmly. He picked up his cup and took a sip of coffee.

The bitterness spread from his tongue to his entire mouth, but Leopold's expression remained unchanged.

His thumb gently rubbed the rim of the cup, his gaze falling on the cup Camilla had drunk from.

Camilla always seemed to prefer coffee with milk because it wasn't as bitter.

Leopold reached for the cup and took a sip.

Sure enough, he wasn't wrong.

They had lived together for six years and he knew her well.

Leopold squinted and turned to gaze out the floor-to-ceiling window. He wouldn't give up—Camilla could only be his!

Leopold slowly finished the remaining coffee. He used to love black coffee without sugar, but since she didn't like it, why couldn't he change?

It wasn't hard at all, just look at Marcus. He wasn't rejected by Camilla because he knew how to blend in. Subtly, he became part of her life. He advanced by retreating, making Camilla feel no pressure, so she naturally let her guard down and allowed him to get close. If Marcus could do it, why couldn't he?

Last night's alcohol did make him drunk, but he sobered up in an instant.

At that moment, Leopold suddenly figured it out.

To win Camilla back, he couldn't rush. The more he pushed, the more she would retreat.

His past actions had already made Camilla put up her defenses. If he wanted to get close to her again, he had to do the opposite and make her believe he had truly let go.

Only then would he have a chance.

Judging from Camilla's reaction just now, the effect should be pretty good?

At least, when facing him, Camilla was no longer impatient.

Azalea and her classmate passed by the coffee shop, remembering they had a full day of classes, and decided to buy a cup of coffee to refresh themselves.

"Do you want one?" Azalea asked her companion with a smile, suddenly catching a glimpse of Leopold sitting by the window. Her eyes flickered.

Her companion nodded. "I was just thinking of getting one."

"Wait a minute." Azalea suddenly stopped her.

"What's wrong?"

"Did you forget to pick up your package?"

"Yes, thanks for reminding me."

Azalea smiled slightly. "Tell me what you want to drink, and I'll bring it for you. You go get your package first?"

"Sure, thanks. I'll have an iced coconut latte, no extra sugar."

"Got it. Go ahead."

After confirming her companion had left, Azalea opened the door of the coffee shop.

Then, pretending to just notice Leopold, she looked surprised. "Hello! Fancy seeing you here."

As she spoke, she walked to the seat opposite Leopold. "Is this seat taken? Do you mind if I sit down?"

Leopold remained silent, expressionless.

Azalea smiled and said, "If you don't say anything, I'll take it as a yes." With that, she sat down gracefully.

Leopold clearly didn't intend to say much to her. Although they had met a few times, he didn't feel they were familiar enough to chat.

However, Azalea didn't think so. She naturally asked, "How are you? You sat at the school gate for so long yesterday. Did you catch a cold?"

Leopold remained silent, showing no desire to speak.

Azalea didn't mind and continued, "Are you here for coffee too? This shop's coffee is pretty good. Compared to other nearby coffee shops, it's indeed better. I've tried different flavors. The one you're holding should be their signature iced Americano, right? It tastes rich but slightly bitter. It would taste better with a small cake."

Listening to Azalea's soft and pleasant voice, Leopold's gaze suddenly became playful, and a faint, ambiguous smile appeared on his lips.

Azalea felt a chill down her spine under Leopold's gaze but maintained her smile.

"Why are you looking at me like that? Is there something on my face?" she said, touching her face with both hands.

Suddenly, Leopold spoke, "Do you have a thing for me?"

He had seen many women and was familiar with the look in Azalea's eyes. Despite her efforts to hide it and act indifferent, she couldn't evade Leopold's gaze.

Azalea didn't expect him to be so direct, causing her face to flush and her voice to grow softer. "Is it that obvious? You figured it out?"

She actually admitted it! He had seen too many women like her—beautiful, charming, all kinds. Suddenly, Leopold felt a bit uninterested.

He casually rubbed the rim of his coffee cup, his voice cold. "Then you should know, I already have someone I like."

Azalea nodded. "I've known for a long time. Camilla is my classmate. We're in the same graduate program."

Leopold's hand paused, then he laughed. "Classmates, huh?"

Azalea watched as Leopold's thin lips curved slightly, paired with his ambiguous gaze, making him look even more devilishly charming.

Soon, Leopold's voice sounded again. "Would you be willing to do me a favor?"

Azalea was stunned for a moment before reacting, "What favor?"

Leopold spoke slowly, "Be my girlfriend."

He knew how guarded Camilla was and how deep her grudge against him ran.

Only by making Camilla believe he had completely given up on her and fallen for someone else would she possibly lower her guard and accept him back into her life.

Even if it was just as a friend.

And since Azalea was her classmate, he could use Azalea to naturally appear around Camilla.

Azalea's heart pounded wildly.

Leopold's words were like the devil's whisper, stirring up her deepest desires.

She felt a mix of hope and joy, but these emotions quickly faded when she saw the indifference and calmness in Leopold's eyes. She instantly realized that was just a tool for him to pursue Camilla.

Azalea fell silent.

Leopold stirred his coffee and spoke lightly, "You play along with me, and in return, I'll provide you with some financial support. Of course, if you're not interested, just forget it."
