Chapter 136 Dropping Out

After all, even Leopold himself didn't want the baby.

And Brady didn't know about it yet, and Elodie didn't dare to mention it in front of him.

Subconsciously, she felt that Brady definitely wouldn't support her.

Brady and Leopold were both ruthless.

Now that things had developed to this point, it was unrealistic to ask Amara to have an abortion.

So, Elodie had no choice but to accept it.

"Mrs. Lopez, I heard your daughter-in-law is pregnant? And with twins, no less." They started chatting.

"Yeah, I just found out too. My son kept it a secret and only told me after his wife was three months pregnant, saying they wanted to surprise me. I have to admit, it was quite a shock, haha."

"Congrats! My son hasn't even had a girlfriend yet. I don't know when I'll get to be a grandmother." A friend of Elodie asked, "Mrs. Wipere, your son is the same age as mine, right? Has he got a girlfriend?"

Elodie smiled. "Not yet. He's busy with his little company all the time. Why can't he just come back and comfortably inherit the family business?"

"Mrs. Wipere, you're being modest. How can you call your son's company 'little'? It's already gone public!"

Elodie raised her eyebrows proudly but said, "Oh, it's nothing, just a small venture."

"Well, my son has no interest in starting a business. Now that his wife is pregnant, he seems quite content and has even less motivation. I can't rely on my son, so I have to pin my hopes on the two grandsons in my daughter-in-law's belly to make me proud in the future."

"How? They're just embryos! Haha."

Everyone couldn't help but laugh at this.

"You all might not know this, but research shows that humans start unconsciously absorbing new knowledge as embryos. As the old saying goes, you can't let the child lose at the starting line!"

"Anyway, I've enrolled my daughter-in-law in what is said to be the best prenatal education class in the country. It's beneficial for both her and the child."

"I attended a couple of sessions myself, and it really is different! It starts by improving the mother herself, then subtly influences the fetus. It's gradual."

"Oh, the mother needs to improve too?"

"Of course! How can an ordinary mother give birth to an exceptional child?"

Upon hearing their conversation, Elodie's eyes flickered.

After the gathering, Elodie returned home and sat on the sofa, deep in thought.

Suddenly, she called the butler over. "Call the number on this business card and inquire about the course. If everything checks out, enroll Amara. I'll cover the cost. Understand?"

The butler, aware of Amara's pregnancy, saw the card with "Little Miracles Sanctuary" and understood immediately.

Half an hour later, the butler reported, "The course is fine. I've enrolled Amara."

"Good."

Elodie picked up her phone and called Amara.

It rang for over ten seconds before Amara finally answered, "Hello? Who is this? What's up?"

Elodie's face darkened upon hearing her voice, and even more so when she realized Amara hadn't saved her number.

"It's me." Elodie took a deep breath, trying to stay calm.

Amara said, "Oh, it's you. Sorry, I didn't see the caller ID. What do you need?"

Elodie got straight to the point, "I've enrolled you in a prenatal class. It starts tomorrow. Don't feel pressured; just treat it like a regular gathering. Everyone gets together, chats about interesting topics, and does fun activities like flower arranging and tea tasting..."

Amara, munching on an orange slice, didn't even think twice before saying, "I've been feeling crappy lately, always running to the hospital. I really can't do any classes right now."

Remembering the snide remarks and judgmental looks from the last tea party, Amara felt a wave of nausea at the thought of more flower arranging and tea tasting.

Elodie was livid, thinking, 'Is she not even trying to hide her defiance anymore?'

"No discussion. You have to go!"

Before Elodie could finish, Amara hung up!

Elodie stared at her phone, stunned. This brat!

She had the nerve to hang up on her.

The baby wasn't even born yet, and she was already acting so high and mighty. What would happen if she actually had a son?

Fuming, Elodie called the butler again, "Go over there and hand her the schedule. Tell her if she refuses to go, she can pack her bags and leave my son's villa. We won't acknowledge her or the baby."

At 9 PM, the butler came back.

Elodie asked, "What did she say?"

The butler replied, "Amara said she'd attend the class on time."

"At least she knows what's good for her!"

The next morning, Amara was jolted awake by her phone ringing.

She squinted, grabbed her phone, and grumbled, "Who is it?"

"Is this Amara? Hi, I'm from Little Miracles Sanctuary. Our assistant should've sent you the schedule last night. The first class is dessert making, starting at 8 AM. It's now 7:25. Can you make it in 35 minutes?"

The person on the other end introduced themselves and, realizing Amara was still half-asleep, added, "Mrs. Wipere told us to notify her immediately if you miss a class. She said she'd come get you herself."

Thinking of what the butler had said last night, Amara gritted her teeth and got up.

While having breakfast, she checked her phone. There were several unread messages on WhatsApp, all from the so-called assistant, with the schedule.

She downloaded the document and almost choked on her milk.

From 8 AM to 7 PM, the schedule was jam-packed.

From dressing and social etiquette to desserts and jewelry appreciation, there was barely any time to breathe.

Amara's whole body screamed, "No way!" She didn't want to go at all!

But thinking of Elodie's threat and the cushy life she was living, she sucked it up and decided to go.

So, from that day on, Amara started her grueling prenatal education routine.

She left in the morning somewhat energetic but came back exhausted. Even then, she had to squeeze in time for school.

Before, Amara had skipped classes without a second thought, and her advisor had even asked if she still wanted to continue her studies.

Amara had no choice but to go back to class.

But even then, she often missed classes.

For regular attendance and roll calls, Amara paid someone to cover for her. With her roommates helping out, she occasionally showed up just to keep up appearances.

But now, most of her time was eaten up by these prenatal classes, and she was constantly running back and forth. She couldn't keep it up for long.

Without much hesitation, Amara decided to drop out.
