Chapter 121 Marcus: Can we Talk Somewhere else?

Betty was speechless for what felt like forever.

Everyone else was just as stunned.

"Sebastian," Darren said, his eyes darting between Sebastian and Camilla like he'd stumbled upon some big secret.

Doris's lips were pressed tight, her eyes cold and serious.

"Sebastian, what's going on?" Hector finally snapped out of it and asked directly.

Sebastian shrugged, "Just helping out, can't you tell?"

"At Camilla's plac? Impressive," Hector half-joked.

Sebastian shot back, "Well, we're neighbors. Better than you just showing up for a free meal."

"Neighbors? What do you mean?"

Camilla jumped in, "Sebastian lives next door. Our doors face each other. I bumped into him this afternoon when I was heading out to buy groceries. He had his car, so he gave me a lift to the supermarket."

"Oh, got it," Betty said, feeling relieved.

She almost thought they were living together, which freaked her out!

Darren also let out a sigh of relief.

Doris's gloomy face brightened up. "Is it time to eat?"

"I'm ready for dinner." Betty nodded eagerly.

Camilla smiled, "Everyone, sit down and dig in. Just two more dishes, almost ready!"

The meal was a hit.

Betty couldn't stop raving about Camilla's cooking, and Darren was eating like there was no tomorrow.

Even Doris, who was always on a diet, ate her fill.

She didn't want to, but the food was just too good.

Totally Camilla's fault.

After eating and cleaning up, Camilla walked them downstairs to see them off.

Well, actually, it was Camilla and Sebastian seeing them off together.

Even though they knew the two were just neighbors, walking side by side like that made them look like a couple seeing off guests.

Betty noticed and had a weird look on her face.

Darren, though, was too busy bugging Doris. "Doris, it's dark. It's not safe for you to be alone. Let me take you home?"

"No need, I drove."

"Oh, okay then, be careful on the road."

In the car, Doris didn't start the engine right away. Instead, she pulled out her phone and dialed a number.

"Still working as an agent?"

"Yeah, besides being an agent, I don't know how to do anything else. Why? Need something?"

Doris bit her lip. "I want to rent an apartment near Harmony College, preferably a walk-up, no elevator, within a few minutes' walk to the library."

A walk-up? No elevator?

The person on the other end was stunned.

"Are you sure you want that kind of place?"

A rich person wanting to rough it?

Doris replied, "I'm sure."

"If you want all that, the only option is the old steel factory dorms near the south gate of Harmony College."

Doris's eyes lit up. "That works!"

"But I gotta warn you, the alley's rough, and there's no community management. The only plus is the convenient transportation."

"That's fine, just find it for me. I'll pay whatever it costs."

She thought, 'It's not just Camilla who can be neighbors with Sebastian.'

After seeing them off, Camilla and Sebastian walked back.

Suddenly, a voice called out, "Camilla."

She turned around instinctively and saw Marcus standing across the street, smiling and waving at her.

Sebastian adjusted his glasses, not showing any reaction.

The next second, Marcus crossed the street and walked up to Camilla. "I was just about to come find you. Didn't expect to run into you here."

"Is something up?"

"Yeah." Marcus nodded, looking a bit serious. "Can we talk somewhere else?"

Camilla glanced at Sebastian, and Marcus followed her gaze.

"What a coincidence, Sebastian. We meet again."

Sebastian replied, "Not really. If you're here to see Camilla, you'll probably see me too."

Marcus paused, his eyes narrowing slightly.

Sebastian met his gaze, calm and unflinching.

"Half an hour, is that enough?" Camilla checked her watch.

"That's plenty."

"Let's sit at that coffee shop across the street."

Around here, coffee shops and restaurants were everywhere. Since it wasn't yet time for evening classes to end, there weren't many students around.

So it was pretty quiet.

Camilla sat down and got straight to the point, "What's up? Tell me."

Marcus said, "While investigating the two incidents at Reefhaven Isles, the legal team gathered some evidence. But since it couldn't be directly linked to the case, it wasn't included in the investigation report."

"Recently, while reviewing it, I accidentally discovered something new that you might find interesting."

"What new thing?" Camilla was puzzled.

"Take a look at this."

Marcus handed over an investigation report, "Look closely at the places circled in red."

Camilla opened it, looking puzzled, and the more she read, the more serious her expression became.

Marcus said, "Did you notice? Whether it's the oxygen tank leak or the sudden appearance of a venomous snake in the gift box, the feasibility analysis here shows that Amara couldn't have done it alone. The subsequent review of the surveillance footage also confirms this."

Camilla frowned. "You mean Amara had help?"

"Based on the investigation results, that's highly likely."

"Of course," Marcus clasped his hands, "investigating this now might not have any legal significance."

Because the domestic police had officially responded that they wouldn't take the case.

Marcus continued, "But I still chose to tell you. First, you have the right to know; second, to remind you that Amara is not simple, and she might have others behind her."

"Unless necessary, it's best not to interact with Amara. Also, be cautious of your surroundings and stay vigilant."

"If anything happens, call me anytime. After all, I'm always at your service."

At this, Marcus spread his hands and shrugged.

Camilla couldn't help but laugh.

"You're a busy man, I wouldn't dare bother you too much."

"I am busy, but you're welcome to bother me." Marcus looked at her smile, "And only you, no one else gets this treatment."

Camilla's smile faded slightly, and she said seriously, "Thank you for telling me this, sorry for the trouble."

Marcus smiled slightly, "It's no trouble."

He said each word clearly, "Because I want to."

Facing Marcus's intense gaze, Camilla felt a bit overwhelmed and looked down to avoid it. "It's getting late, I should go back."

"Okay." Marcus stood up, grabbing his suit jacket, "I'll walk you back."

As they crossed the street, Marcus suddenly paused.

He saw that Sebastian was still in the same spot, not having left.
