Chapter 143 You Are Not Worthy to Mention Her
Elodie snapped, tossing the towel off her forehead. "Are you here to take care of me or just to piss me off? If that baby in her belly wasn't a Wipere, do you think I'd even give her the time of day?"
Clara smirked, "Well, serves you right. Amara's not as innocent as you think. She's just using the baby to climb the social ladder, and you're the only one who can't see it."
Clara had disliked Amara from the start, and Elodie was just now catching on, which was pretty slow of her.
Leopold heard about Elodie being in the hospital and rushed over from work. Before he even got to the ward, he could hear the arguing.
He asked with a frown, "What's all the noise about?"
Seeing Leopold, Elodie sat up straight and started complaining, "Perfect timing. Your girlfriend is out of control! I went to pick her up from class, and not only did she give me the wrong schedule, but she also talked back to me in front of everyone! You know I have vertigo, and she made me so mad that my condition flared up!"
Clara snorted, "Mom, don't say that. Amara is Leopold's carefully chosen girlfriend. If you keep picking on her, they might get even closer and who knows what they'll say about you then."
She spoke sarcastically, not caring how dark Leopold's face got.
Clara thought, 'Wouldn't Camilla be a better choice?'
Because of Amara, he let Camilla go, causing her to miss out on getting into Aurora's grad program. Clara could never let that go!
Leopold said nothing, but his face grew darker and darker.
He ignored Elodie's complaints and Clara's sarcasm, went to the office to ask the doctor again, confirmed that Elodie was fine, and then left the hospital with a cold face.
Back at the villa, as soon as he opened the door, a warm and soft body threw itself into his arms. Who else could it be but Amara?
She was wearing a silk camisole nightgown, the open V-neck revealing a large expanse of collarbone. Leopold only had to lower his head slightly to see the faint cleavage.
"Leopold, you're back!" Her sickly sweet voice had just sounded when Leopold roughly pushed her away.
Leopold expressionlessly patted his sleeve, as if something dirty had touched him.
"Leopold."
Leopold raised his hand and slapped her. Amara's ears buzzed, and she held her face in disbelief.
"Who gave you the guts to talk back to my mom?"
Tears instantly welled up in Amara's eyes. "I just said a few more words, that's all. Did she complain to you? Why can't you listen to my explanation first? I'm a person too, I have my own thoughts and desires. I just didn't want to go to class, what's wrong with that?"
Leopold sneered, "Isn't this all what you asked for?"
One sentence shattered the little dignity Amara had left.
He had asked Amara to abort the baby and take the money to leave, but she refused and turned to Elodie instead.
"So, what are you complaining about? Enjoying my mom's protection and still making her so angry she ended up in the hospital, do you know what's the word for you? Bitch!"
"No, why are you saying this about me too? I just love you so much, I want to have our baby and stay by your side." Amara cried like a pear blossom in the rain, still not forgetting to profess her love.
Unfortunately, Leopold wasn't buying it at all.
"You're talking to me about love? Do you even know why I keep you around? If it weren't for my mom, you wouldn't even be here."
Amara's pent-up frustration finally burst out. "Can't you see everything I've done for you? I just want us to go back to how we were, without any barriers. But your heart is made of stone, you won't give me a chance. Why? Because you still have Camilla in your heart, don't you? You can't forget her!"
Leopold spoke each word slowly, "So what if I do?"
He didn't even want to pretend anymore.
"I know I can't compare to Camilla, but my love for you is no less than hers!"
Amara cried her heart out, reaching out to hold Leopold's hand, but he mercilessly pushed her away.
"You're not worthy to mention her." Leopold's veins bulged on his forehead, as if he was suppressing extreme anger. "Her name coming out of your mouth is an insult."
"I'll give you one day. Either apologize to my mom in person or get out of the villa. You decide." With that, Leopold grabbed his coat and turned to leave.
Amara trembled all over.
In Leopold's eyes, she saw not herself, but an object, something that could be discarded at any time.
She got pregnant out of wedlock for him, gave up her studies, and endured humiliation in front of Elodie, but what was the result?
He despised her and wanted her to leave!
Amara was filled with hatred. She had sacrificed so much and finally reached this point. With wealth and glory within reach, how could she be willing to give up?
Thinking of this, Amara wiped away her tears and protected her belly with both hands.
As long as the baby was still there, she hadn't lost.
Leopold sat in his car, not knowing where to go for a moment.
The hospital had a medical team, and Elodie could get the best care.
The villa had Amara, and he didn't want to stay there for even a second longer.
As for the company, he had already worked overtime for two days straight. If he didn't rest, his secretary and assistant needed to.
"Oliver, come out for a drink."
"Leopold, you've been organizing gatherings quite frequently lately."
Back when he was with Camilla, he would only gather with their group two or three times a month at most.
Now he was completely out of control.
Leopold asked, "Are you coming out?"
"Sorry, Leopold," Oliver's tone was apologetic, "I'm home tonight."
"Alright. Say hi to your parents for me."
He hung up and then called Simon, but Simon didn't answer.
At this hour, he was probably cuddling with a woman.
Leopold scrolled through his contacts and suddenly paused on a name.
It was Marcus.
"Wow, you're actually calling me?" Marcus answered quickly, but his words were filled with sarcasm.
Marcus always knew how to get under people's skin.
Leopold didn't get angry, flicked his cigarette ash out the window, and said calmly, "I didn't expect you to pick up."
Marcus said, "Blocking people is childish, I don't stoop to that level."
Leopold asked, "Want to grab a drink?"
"You wouldn't just use that as an excuse to get me out and then start a fight, would you?"
Leopold replied, "Not that I wouldn't."
Marcus snorted, "Send me the address."
Leopold arrived at the bar first and got a booth in the main hall.
He had just ordered drinks, and before he could take a sip, Marcus arrived.
He sat directly across from Leopold, glanced at the bottles on the table, and raised an eyebrow, asking, "Tequila? Isn't that a bit strong?"
Leopold chuckled, "What? You scared?"
